Shrimp Bowl

The food is fresh and delicious. The costs are very reasonable. The garlic butter sauce is definitely the chefs kiss. It takes about 15 minutes for the order so call ahead if you can. I'd definitely recommend.

New York Steak Bowl

We had been wanting to try this place but unfortunately the food was bland and very overpriced. We would have been better off going down the street to a sit down restaurant for what we paid, we won't be going back.

My hand as a size reference

I waited half an hour and paid 27.48 with $11 tip and got this. What is this? Where is the meat? Where is the rest of my food? This is my hand as a size reference. Give me back my money. Also the chicken and vegetables have no flavor. Did you steam the chicken as well? This taste like what someone who thinks salt and ketchup is spicy thinks spice should be.

Hibachihana doesn't disappoint. The food is consistently delicious and they give a decent amount for the price. We usually go for the New York steak, which is always tender and flavorful -- definitely good quality meat. This location is pretty small, so it's probably better suited for takeout. That's what we usually do, so I can't really comment on the dine-in service. While the prices are a bit on the higher side, it's still a solid option if you're craving that hibachi flavor without the full sit-down experience or the show. Great for a satisfying, quick meal when you want something tasty and filling.

I'm sad to say this place has fallen off lately. The last time we came in the staff really seemed out of sorts and couldn't handle the workload. When we ordered there were only two people in front of us but we were quoted a 25 minute wait (not completely usual - they do a LOT of DoorDash/pick up service) but it took 45 minutes for us to get our food. When it arrived it was missing the lobster tail and veggies which they fixed but at that point it was just frustrating. The serving size has gotten smaller over time and the price higher - I know inflation and whatever but doing both is disappointing. The rice was really hard, pretty much inedible, like maybe it got freezer burn and they tried to warm it up? I really couldn't figure out how it was so hard but it basically tasted like eating uncooked rice. The steak was good as usual. They were playing the television and music and both were turned way up. I don't mind background noise but we couldn't even hear the girl when she called us from the front stand. Ultimately for $100+ it was a huge let down and we decided that would be our last visit.

Great food great service! I order three times a week, Usually delivery, but sometimes I go inside and it's a very lively atmosphere. My daughter gets the filet mignon bowl with the garlic butter, which is amazing even my husband loves it and he's picky. Then I get the two meals for 25 which is the chicken or shrimp I get one of each and your choice of white rice or fried rice and vegetables then you get sauces to go with it. It's absolutely amazing. Really good

We decided to try this place just to see for ourselves. We were a little wary because there was no one inside eating....but we went ahead and ordered various items from their menu. The service was good and didn't take long to get our food. The food was good, but nothing amazingly good . For the price point, I was definitely expecting better. But hey, we tried it and now we know. The sushi was meh. I'd stick to their bowls/plates with protein and noodles. They do offer various sauces like garlic butter and their yum yum sauce.

Our server was so good at his job that I didn't even realize he slid my drink in front of me without me noticing. He was super attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. In terms of the food it's pretty on par with nice steakhouses. We ordered the lobster Mac n cheese, mushrooms, BLT salad, French onion soup, and the NY prime rib steak. They also have complimentary bread with multiple different flavors - the jalapeño cheese one was the best. Everything was very tasty. The French onion soup was decent at first but became quite potent after a while and became harder to finish since it was such a strong flavor. The steak was cooked perfectly and they even confirmed the color of the inside with us! At the end they had surprised us with a sweet treat on the house to celebrate our anniversary! Such a pleasant surprise which made the experience that much better. Another random bonus of dining here - if you show your receipt at the front door, you can enter their saloon for free. It seemed to be a nice fun line dancing situation if you were up for it. Overall prices for dinner was quite high but pretty worth it if you care a lot about the experience itself.

Great food, great service, great atmosphere. The Tartan Room is exactly the kind of place locals like me keep coming back to. The owner claimed we forgot our IDs, which isn't true. One of us simply left it in the car and went back to get it. He also claimed one of us was wearing a tank top, which was completely false. It was a regular short-sleeve shirt. Maybe the owner should learn what a tank top actually is before making assumptions and insulting customers. On top of that, making comments about people "living at home" and not being able to "afford sleeves" was immature, unnecessary, and honestly just embarrassing behavior from a business owner. The whole experience was strange and uncomfortable. Considering it was a weekend night and there were only about four people there, the place already looked like it was about to close down. After the way we were treated, it's not hard to see why. I give it a few years since most of it audience is old and passing away with it

The restaurant was dark and stylish, and I immediately liked the vibe. Even though it was crowded for a Thursday night, we were seated within 15 minutes. We each picked a shareable dish to split. Predictably, my daughter chose the mac and cheese. I rolled my eyes -- it's so her -- but it turned out to be the best of the four. Maybe it was the velvety cheese sauce or the golden cracker crust that made it so irresistible, but that mac and cheese was, as she'd say, absolutely bussin'. The next standout was the maple-buttered Brussels sprouts, my man's pick. If all vegetables tasted this good, I'd eat them every day. Candied pecans, maple butter, blue cheese -- how could that not be amazing? Was it healthy? Sus, but definitely worth it. I picked the pig candy for the group, which was outrageously sweet and candy-like. Clearly, this wasn't healthy -- bacon, sugar, and rye whiskey caramel make a trifecta of indulgence. But it was so delicious, I couldn't complain. The sliders were the last shareable we tried. They were fine but didn't stand out -- the meat was a bit dry. I also ordered a cocktail (something pretty and fruity, though I can't remember the name). The bartender nailed it, delivering a delicious drink. My man enjoyed his Negroni. The service was great, and I loved the grassy area with fire pits for hanging out. Excellent place for our first night out in Irvine!

The slice was very thin and I don't think it was 10 oz. The green beans were very good but the mashed potatoes were over whipped and starchy. The meat was a bit chewy. We both had med rare and that was right. The cost was 46.95 per dinner. It also came with Yorkshire pudding which was also delicious. I ordered a carrot cake ( my favorite) to go and the frosting was very thin. It used to be thicker. The inside is still nice but our booth seat needs some TLC.

The evening began with appetizers and drinks in the cellar at 6 PM before being seated for dinner at 7 PM, which made the entire experience feel special from the moment we arrived. A few days before our reservation, the restaurant reached out to ask about allergies and thoughtfully adjusted the menu to accommodate my boyfriend's fish allergy. The service throughout the night was exceptional. Every member of the staff was warm, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in making sure each guest had a memorable experience. We were especially impressed by how seamlessly they accommodated dietary restrictions without sacrificing any part of the experience. One of the highlights of the evening was the opportunity to explore the house and meet members of the kitchen staff between courses. It added such a unique and personal touch that you simply don't find at most restaurants and made the evening feel even more intimate and memorable. As for the food, every course was outstanding. The tasting menu was beautifully executed from start to finish, but the star of the night was the filet mignon. Our entire table agreed it was the best filet mignon we've ever had--perfectly cooked and incredibly tender This is definitely a special occasion restaurant. Our dinner for four was around $800, so it's not an inexpensive night out. That said, we all left feeling that the experience justified the price. Between the multi-course meal, exceptional service, unique atmosphere, personal touches, and overall quality, it felt like much more than just dinner. You will be spending a pretty penny, but that's because this is not an everyday Friday-night dinner spot it's a full culinary experience. If I had the budget, I'd come every week... maybe twice. Dinner is a multi-course tasting experience that begins around 5 PM and carries you through the evening you'll likely be there until 10 PM or later. There's a wine cellar, curated pairings, and an atmosphere that feels intimate, elevated, and deeply intentional. This place is clearly designed for guests with an elevated palate and a true appreciation for the culinary arts and thoughtfully sourced, curated dishes. For just my husband and me, we spent a little over $600 for the evening, and I can honestly say every single dollar was worth it. If you're someone who loves food, storytelling through cuisine, and unforgettable dining experiences, this is a must. You're able to interact with the chefs, the staff is incredibly hospitable and professional, and the entire experience feels warm yet refined. I truly cannot rave enough about this restaurant. I came here for my wedding anniversary, which is very special to me and I have a relatively young child and they were still able to accommodate this alone to me meant the world and for them to be able to accommodate to a small child was incredibly amazing. This is hands-down one of the top dining experiences in Orange County, and it will forever hold a special place in my heart. I will absolutely be returning every year, guaranteed.
