Went here for my wife's birthday lunch as sushi is her all time favorite and we love trying different omakase sets when an occasion presents itself. I made reservations so we could get the premium set. It was our first time, so not sure what to expect. The reservation for seating wasn't needed as the tables were mostly empty but the reservation was needed to make sure the omakase was available. There was no sushi bar seating, so the omakase came out all at once instead of a piece by piece experience. That's fine. Oddly though, the waiter did not explain which fish each piece was, but the sushi chef James told us at the end of the meal that the waiter was new and Chef James then explained the fish himself. Weird backwards experience but every one was kind and well-meaning. The quality of the fish in the nigiri was exceptional. Some of the best I've had in the area considering how close it is located to competitors like Ooshima and Kaigen etc. The fish all came dressed, which was to be expected. It was all pretty delicious except it was all just a little bit sweet for my taste.. I prefer more savory, salty, or lemony. That being said, the quality made up for the preference in taste which could easily be remedied with some soy sauce, ponzu, lemon, etc. The bite of Wagyu nigiri was genuinely the best wagyu I've ever had. We also tried the mussels and agedashi tofu for hot appetizers. Would 100% recommend either dish. Overall, happy with the experience as wifey was a happy birthday girl. We did not have room to try any regular rolls so I cannot comment on that. The one negative thing I will say is to absolutely skip the handrolls - any of them. The machine compacted rice made a roll that should be delicate feel mishandled and ruined the texture/experience of that roll. That being said, will definitely be coming back again for some more of the best quality nigiri in the area. read more

Phone order was easy and person was great on phone. Picked up order on time but food didn't taste right. Oil seemed old , cucumber salad was either sitting too long in juices or days old - definitely not fresh. The roll under the fried popcorn crawfish tasted decent. The eel sauce was like jelly . I had high hopes with such great reviews online - but really sad it was way below expectations. The place was not busy on a Wednesday at 7pm. I was on board with this sushi place until I learned they charge extra for spicy mayo. OK, I get it. It's a business, they need to make money. But if you're going to charge an average of $20 per roll, it would be nice if you can just offer a little something on good faith. And it wasn't like I asked for anything big - just a little bit of sauce to elevate an otherwise bland (and small) roll. My only favorite thing was the crispy rice with spicy tuna. Everything else was pretty average. Our first time was a weird experience. The lady looked at my BF weird during the tipping part as he was entering it on her Apple Pay machine, like she was expecting him to tip more or something. The whole thing felt awkward. read more

I ordered the 12 piece omakase and my husband for the BOGO rolls, garlic albacore, and yellowfin tuna. The omakase pieces were large and tasted great. My favorite are amaebi and hotate. The place is not very big but very quaint. Seems like good amount of seating with none at the bar. I liked the decor including the mural and endless bottles of sake. I came here off another friend's recommendation and for another friend's bday. I was a but skeptical given the paper menu but boy this place did not disappoint. We called in a day before to reserve the omakase which I believe days it on the website. The omakase was delicious! 15 pieces of $61 seems like a steal compared to other sushi restaurants. If i remember correctly it was tuna, salmon belly, hamachi belly, king shrimp, albacore, halibut, amaebi with fried shrimp head, black sea perch, scallop, squid, toro, wagyu, eel, tamago, uni. All of them were amazing especially the toro and wagyu. It looks like it came with miso soup too which was a good starter. They also had hamachi rib bones which were a first for me but also delicious. Ankimo is one of favorites so ordered the sashimi and was delicious as well. Im really glad they had kizami wasabi which alot of places dont carry. The wait staff was very nice and attentive. Refilled our drinks fairly regularly and cleaned up our table whenever we finished a dish so we would have room. Overall I would definitely come back and recommend this to anyone. read more

This has been a goto spot for me and it's not for the rolls. I get their nigiri and specific fish are super fresh. I recommend their Hamachi, Kurodai, Hamachi Toro, and Hamachi Jalapeño. I guess you could say that I like my Yellowtail. I am normally a big salmon fan, but their salmon is really bland and I noticed even with soy sauce it still doesn't really taste that great. Within that last few years I've really grown to like scallops, so I normally like trying them at every sushi spot that has them, but theirs are one of the ones that do not taste fresh. The price was really good. And any roll you order is BOGO for 50%. So we ordered 2 "8 pieces Omakase" and 2 rolls. The Omakase was a disappointment. The pieces were just regular fishes, no Black Cod, no Cherry Salmon,... The quality of the fish was average only. They were kind of tasteless. In addition we also ordered a Caterpillar Roll and a Salmon Lover Roll. The rolls were not bad for the price. Service was great. The decor was minimalist. Hidden Gem found in Orange next to Target called Daoni Sushi and Sake. I came here by chance not expecting much but I was quite surprised by the charm and ambience of this little restaurant. I ordered their Omakase sashimi plate full of assortment of fresh delicious fish of the day. It paired well with my uni masago and ankimo rice bowl. Just the perfect size for a nice lunch time treat. My partner and I ordered the 12 piece sushi omakase for $42/pp. We enjoyed all the fish selections except for the cooked shrimp and halibut. I am not sure why you would include cooked shrimp because it's so basic. I would rather have another piece of fish. I am not sure if the halibut was supposed to be crunchy but the texture was a little strange and I wasn't a fan. I feel like the tamago and shrimp were filler pieces so you're really getting 10 pieces of substancial seafood. We also ordered an additional crunchy salmon roll which had crispy onions on top. We arrived an hour before closing so it was pretty empty on a Sunday night. The server was nice but I wish she told us what each piece of fish was. I had an idea but I am not really sure. It's not your typical Japanese omakase experience which checks out since I heard them speaking Korean but the fish was fresh and I was full. My party ordered the Soft Shell Crab, Calamari Tempura, Salmon Lover and Las Vegas roll, and two cups of water. The service was awesome! Staff was very attentive to us. The variety of items on the menu was also a plus, and the humble but clean interior made this a nice spot to enjoy lunch with the kids. But I gotta say, the 4.5 stars was slightly misleading. This is not the best quality sushi you will find in town. In fact, it's not the best quality fish you will find on this street. But what you will find here is good quality nigiri that comes at a great value, with 3 pieces per order versus the usual 2. You will also find well-constructed fancy sushi rolls that are big and tasty, as well as a good variety of small appetizers. The vibe of this place is nice. We went when it wasn't busy and the service was courteous and attentive. We felt welcomed and taken care of. The menu wasn't overwhelming. I like having choices but also having it be easy to make choices since I can get rather indecisive. The rolls I had were Moon Night and popcorn scallop. I liked them both but the roll part was the same, so only the top(ping) gave a variety in flavor. Ordered the takoyaki and it wasn't....it wasn't awesome. I loved it when I was in Japan.
