Always a great place to eat at. Super cozy with great service. I tried the Ika Gesu (squid) and North Shore roll today and both were delicious.

Great spot if you're looking for some sushi near Orange! I've been twice and both times the staff have always been very friendly. The quality of the sushi is very fresh! My favorite item so far is the Nemo Roll! It's a fresh roll and it's very tasty. The indoor seating is a bit small but they do have an outside patio! The vibe inside feels cozy and comfortable creating the perfect ambiance to enjoy some sushi! I definitely recommend if you're in the area :))

This quaint little spot has quickly become our FAVORITE sushi restaurant in Orange! Thankfully we live down the street but that isn't the reason; the food is phenomenal / delicious & the staff is always friendly, warm, and welcoming! We'd literally come here every week if we could... soooooo good! We ordered the kids Teriyaki chicken w/ rice & miso soup, fried gyoza, spicy edamame, and the angry bird sushi rolls!

Wazabi Sushi is kinda great. It's giving authentic, but you can also find an array of American forward menu items. Rather than order all speciality rolls, we did a combination of cut rolls + 2 specialty rolls. It kept our meal balanced and budget friendly. -spicy tuna ($9 for 8pcs): cucumber + sprout -yellowtail ($8 for 5pcs) -awesome roll ($20): tuna, salmon, albacore, avocado in soy paper, topped with yellowtail, lemon, jalapeño +cilantro sauce -grenade roll ($14): shrimp tempura, imitation crab, avocado, cream cheese + jalapeño deep fried Honestly, I highly recommend ordering a few cut rolls. This gives you a chance to eat fresh rolls at really reasonable prices. Both the spicy tuna and yellowtail rolls were great additions to our meal. The specialty rolls were also very delish - excellent interpretations of any Americanized roll you've ever had. I love that the Awesome Roll used soy paper instead of seaweed. It was different and I liked it. The space is cozy with a cute outdoor dining space for warmer days. Their menu is pretty thorough with a lot to choose from. Perfect. Great. I love.

Husband and I had lunch here on a rainy day. Parking is difficult, especially in the rain. There is a small lot behind them that was full, luckily we found a spot on the street about a block down. They were totally packed with seating room at the bar. The rest of the bar filled up within minutes of us arriving. They also have an outdoor patio but it was flooded when we were there. Service was fast, not overly friendly. Since we were at the bar the chefs handed us our rolls, and we placed an order for a 3rd roll with a chef as well. I had a cup of miso soup, which was brought out after the rolls, I had wanted it before the meal. It was good, steaming hot, light miso flavor. We split three rolls - Philadelphia Salmon, a basic Philly roll that hit the spot! Grenade, a deep fried roll with shrimp, imitation crab, jalapeños (not spicy at all, very mild), cream cheese, and eel sauce. We really enjoyed this one as well, tasted like a big piece of tempura shrimp. Finally, we had the Darth Vader, and I don't think either of us understood what this was going to be. It was another deep fried roll with albacore wrapped in seaweed. It was basically like an albacore sausage. One piece was enough for me. I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it. My husband finished it off. We said we will try them again, I want to stick to fresh rolls/raw fish and not get another deep fried one. All the people sitting at the bar got rolls that looked amazing. Glad we stopped in, hope we come back sometime!

Wazabi Sushi is a solid go-to in the heart of Old Towne Orange, right at the Circle. Parking at the restaurant is limited, but there's a free parking structure close by, so it's easy enough. Heads up during the week: they close briefly between lunch and dinner. Good vibes as soon as you walk in. Not a huge space, but it wors! It has an industrial feel with a small sushi bar, and patio seating if you want to sit outside. Plenty of sushi options. We grabbed avocado and California rolls for our niece who's easing into sushi, and they were perfect. For us, we ordered the Nemo roll, Caterpillar roll, blue crab and salmon skin hand rolls, plus a seared salmon belly special off the daily specials board--which was the standout. Service was smooth, no issues, and they stayed on top of refills. Overall, just a reliable, easy sushi spot that we'll definitely keep in rotation.

I went here because I was in the area and I had been meaning to try it after getting a lot of recommendations of it from locals. The sushi was good and the fish was fresh, but it's not 100% great. It's definitely for collegiate audience (Chapman University is nearby). I got the Wazabi (Tuna, Salmon, Yellowtail, and Albacore wrap spicy tuna and crab salad mix; with masago, eel sauce, creamy sesame dressing, and chili oil), along with an order of Salmon Belly sushi and they were pretty good. The ambiance at night was pretty noisy.

Caterpillar (left), Devil (right), B.S.C. (Front). devil was the best!
    Catherine S.

Pretty good sushi spot. It was $63 for 3 rolls and edamame, which seemed a bit expensive for 2 people. The Devil roll was the best of 3 we got. It had a little kick to it but not super spicy. It didn't taste fishy which was great! Caterpillar was very average and I would not order it again. The sauce was sweeter than expected and rice was a little hard. The service was good. But we needed time to review the menu since it was our first time and we had 2 servers come back every 3-5mins which made me feel rushed. It's a very cozy spot. One bathroom. Outdoor seating with heaters (what we did)!

The food was really amazing. I think we found another reliable sushi spot sushi spot. We started off with the chicken karaage. I think it was a little overcooked/ over fried. The sushi rolls were a bigger hit. The fish was very fresh and had amazing taste. Both of the rolls were extremely good; my only feedback is that I felt the the snow white roll was not packed tightly enough, so it fell apart a little. It was still a very good roll. The inside of the restaurant is designed like a restaurant right out of Japan. The workers provided great service and we're able to recommend some great rolls. Overall we'll definitely visit again!

Favorite sushi spot! THE only sushi restaurant we only go to in Orange. Amazing food and amazing prices. If you ask me, the food here tastes better than Nobu. We go back to this place over and over. 10/10!

Pretty cool spot in Downtown Orange. The service was great, We sat at the sushi bar. The chefs and the server were very attentive. The food was pretty darn good. I loved the rolls. The sashimi was a little "fishy" it was salmon, and my son didn't think it was bad at all. I must be a salmon snob. That said I would 100% go back.

After a bit of antique shopping in Old Orange , we were famished. We spotted this sushi spot awhile back and decided to stop by for lunch to give it a try. It's pretty small inside, but there is also outdoor seating available. The server pointed out the lunch specials and I ordered the Sashimi 8 piece lunch special, which comes with a salad and miso soup. We also added the spider and lobster roll. The salad was fresh and the Sashimi and miso soup were just mediocre. It just didn't taste fresh to me. I specifically asked the server if there was any oil or seasoning on this dish and the server said no. I would have been ok with the two oil dots not touching the Sashimi. However, I wasn't ok with the unknown sauce below the garnish that got on the fish. The lobster roll arrived and it took another 20 minutes for the spider roll. We were told by various servers that the roll would arrive soon. For as long as we waited, we were surprised that the soft shell crab was cold. I asked one of the servers, why it took so long for the roll and she came up with a lot of excuses. She claimed with only two fryers, they had a back up. But, when we entered, the resteraunt wasn't full. She also was adamant that the soft shell crab was hot, but it clearly wasn't. Overall, not great. The food and long wait for the spider roll, made for an unpleasant lunch experience.

I made reservations so we could get the premium set. It was our first time, so not sure what to expect. The reservation for seating wasn't needed as the tables were mostly empty but the reservation was needed to make sure the omakase was available. There was no sushi bar seating, so the omakase came out all at once instead of a piece by piece experience. That's fine. Oddly though, the waiter did not explain which fish each piece was, but the sushi chef James told us at the end of the meal that the waiter was new and Chef James then explained the fish himself. Weird backwards experience but every one was kind and well-meaning. The quality of the fish in the nigiri was exceptional. Some of the best I've had in the area considering how close it is located to competitors like Ooshima and Kaigen etc. The fish all came dressed, which was to be expected. It was all pretty delicious except it was all just a little bit sweet for my taste.. I prefer more savory, salty, or lemony. That being said, the quality made up for the preference in taste which could easily be remedied with some soy sauce, ponzu, lemon, etc. The bite of Wagyu nigiri was genuinely the best wagyu I've ever had. We also tried the mussels and agedashi tofu for hot appetizers. Would 100% recommend either dish. Overall, happy with the experience as wifey was a happy birthday girl. We did not have room to try any regular rolls so I cannot comment on that. The one negative thing I will say is to absolutely skip the handrolls - any of them. The machine compacted rice made a roll that should be delicate feel mishandled and ruined the texture/experience of that roll. That being said, will definitely be coming back again for some more of the best quality nigiri in the area.

3.5/5 Stars - Nice Experience, But Some Service and Timing Issues…read more We visited Tabi-Ji Teppanyaki for my husband's birthday and had an overall decent experience, though there were a few things that would make us think twice before returning. We chose the dining room seating rather than the teppanyaki tables. The staff did offer us the teppanyaki experience, but since we don't eat red meat or chicken from certain places and weren't sure how the food preparation process worked with mixed ingredients, we opted for a regular table instead. One downside was the seating arrangement. We were seated away from most of the other guests, and it often felt like the staff forgot we were there. Our original host/server was attentive and friendly, but once they were busy with other tasks, it became difficult to get assistance. It was also not busy for a Tuesday evening. We found ourselves waiting for long periods or having to wave someone down, which wasn't ideal, especially for a birthday dinner. As for the food: * Crunchy Spicy Tuna Roll (4/5): Fresh, good quality fish, and a generous portion. A solid sushi roll. * Garlic Edamame (4/5): Flavorful and exactly what you'd expect from a good appetizer. * Lobster Duo with Miso Soup, Salad, and Fried Rice (3/5): Unfortunately, the lobster was quite chewy and seemed overcooked. The miso soup and fried rice were both enjoyable and helped make up for it. * Unagi Donburi (4/5): My husband's meal came with white rice, miso soup, salad, and fried rice. It was his first time trying eel, and he really enjoyed the soft texture and flavor. He said he'd definitely order it again. Our biggest disappointment was the timing of the food. The Unagi Donburi arrived significantly later than everything else. By the time it came out, we had already eaten most of the appetizers and other dishes and were pretty full. It's unfortunate because it seemed like a dish that would have been much better enjoyed fresh, but we ended up taking most of it home. Overall, the food ranged from good to very good, and being able to reserve through Resy and use our Amex dining benefit definitely helped offset the cost. However, considering the price point, we expected more attentive service and better pacing of the meal.

Haven't been a few years post job change but stopped by today expecting at least some of that quality/price. My only explanation for today's meal is that someone from the fast food burger world, or maybe "chefs" from Bell's next door, Taco Bell, bought the place and took over. Someone who has never eaten sushi or ever rolled a roll. The talented folks that used to work there are long gone. The chefs shouting hello and goodbye in Japanese are gone. Should have known when I saw the lunch specials were absent, just new daily specials for $15 plus. And with no prices on the menu, I would rather go for the safe special than spend way too much guessing. Our rolls weren't rolls, they were rice, like a mountain of meh rice, rolled around a thimble of filling, cut with scissors by a kid in a blindfold. Oh, but not the crunch roll. It was a BURRITO cut into slices that couldn't be picked up with chop six... by a pro or a noob. As soon as they put the plates down, we were like, oh snap, some kid who has never worked at a sushi place made these atrocities. Sashimi was both warm and leaking water when bit into. Looked around at the other two patrons, and their rolls were also monster truck tires. Being a polite diner and not a fan of my food spat in if I returned, I powered through it. But now I'm on a yelp, telling neighbors this former titan of American "sushi" has fallen past an acceptable level. Go everywhere else, like anywhere, until they get their act together and begin to care again. C'mon Orange Roll, be better. Posting this hurts my soul, used to be 5 stars all day.
