C9. Baked Salmon Roll and F25. Salmon Roll

For almost a decade this location has been not only consistently delicious but fair. A poke bowl with fresh ingredients and cold fish under $20 is unheard of in areas surrounding this location. Aside from treating myself with their bowls, interacting with the owner/lady is always pleasant since she is very kind and sweet. They deserve more attention! The bathroom and tables are very clean and free cups of water as well. They check all the boxes. 5/5 location. Been coming here a long time and plan to keep it that way.

A little disappointed. I ordered the a spicy tuna roll and salmon sashimi. The salmon was great but the spicy tuna tasted a little too fishy. (Almost bad). I hope it wasn't off. I never finished it. You walk up to the counter to order. The server was friendly. No ambiance sadly... eating amongst boxes. It was clean but not tidy.

EDIT: FOOD POISONING I got sick the morning after eating here, do not recommend. Especially with the poor service. The fact that you can't see behind the counter makes me concerned for unsanitary practices. Definitely will not return.

My wife got a poke bowl to go from here. Price was around $10 which is a pretty good deal. I liked the sauce and fish in the poke.

Came here for lunch in Saturday ! Super clean and welcoming owners. The quality of the tuna and salmon is good. Live the garlic ponzu sauce !

F8. Jessica Roll (-1 piece - delicious, but it was missing tuna), C2. Salmon Skin Roll, and C6. Dragon Roll for takeout.

I go here all the time for a quick and cheap lunch! Cost: great prices! I feel like it's hard to find places in 2023 where the basic rolls are under $7. Portion sizes: small but still satisfying. The customizable Poke Bowls are a medium portion for $10 and all their rolls (that I've ordered so far) come with 8 pieces instead of 6. We order 3 rolls when we get takeout and can finish it in one sitting. I've had the Pokerrito before - not big enough to have leftovers but still satisfying. Service: I haven't dined in yet, but takeout is usually fast. I recommend ordering ahead on their website. It's a mom and pop shop so if there is a rush of people, then expect a wait. That being said, I've come in during regular lunch/dinner hours and I've never seen more than 5 parties in the restaurant at a time. Ambience: very casual, not super well lit, there are boxes everywhere. Quality: 7/10, but you get what you pay for. Sometimes the rolls fall apart. Unagi is good, shrimp tempura is soggy (takeout), salmon is decent. They forgot (?) the tuna in our Jessica roll and replaced it with more salmon, so I can't speak for the tuna quality . Bottom line: It's not the most extravagant place, but it really satisfies the craving for sushi/poke at an unbeatable price.

This is a hole in the wall spot located in a quiet strip mall, but it fixes a craving for poke at a low price. I like poke spots where you can submit a paper slip with what you want as opposed to asking for it Chipotle style like other spots, so that was nice too. Tuna in the bowl was good!

Typical non-friendly Asian mom n pop shop. Big in size, and nice that they have poke, sushi and udon, but the experience and food will make me never to go here again!! First they make you go to another station to order poke when you could order right from the menu above the mamasan's head. Then they gave me the skimpiest meat (I ordered tuna, salmon and scallops). Never again.

Food was good! But the amount of tuna I got was very little

Mine came with intestine, others had a fried chicken or dumplings which was really good and meaty. I like how all combos came with a sauce to accompany it Oxtail noodle soup (5/5): slightly spicy, very satisfying. Tender oxtail Overall so good and will be coming back! The chicken wings were phenomenal. We got all flats, which I'm not sure if they normally serve it like that. They were crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside and just enough seasoning. The broth was super tasty. The oxtail cooked well. The noodles were in my opinion too soft. That's fine, my granddaughter likes him a little soft. The service was service, not bad or good. It was a small place, felt a little chaotic. Would I go back, if I was in the area probably.

We waited one hour on my visit, but that is to be expected as the restaurant is quite small. Beef Rolls (5/5): We got two orders of these, and it was our favorite for a reason. Crispy and flaky wrap on the outside and it was packed with flavor. It was very satisfying to eat! Scallion Pancakes (3.5/5): They were plain but that is to be expected, I didn't taste much scallion. It needed the sauce of course! Spicy Wontons (4/5): These are solid and the chili oil does pack a lot of heat. I would say they are on the spicier side, just wish there was a little more depth to it. Seven Grams XLB (4/5): Juicy and flavorful! Not the absolute best I've had, but still worth ordering. Golden Beef Noodle Soup (5/5): This bowl right here was amazing. Green leafy kale paired with the extra hearty soup was what made this bowl a standout dish for me. 100% would order this alone! Mapo Tofu (5/5): Yummy silky tofu cubes with the minced meat sauce were delicious in every bite! I had no other complaints, but this dish gets very filling easily. Seriously, this place is one of my favorite places in Tustin. The service one inside is efficient, and the ambience is a bit noisy and packed, but this place is popular for a reason. I'll definitely revisit this spot when I get the chance.

Seating consider is around 10 tables plus hjgh top stools, so if you are a large group the wait can be long. We stopped by yesterday to try out some new items, which were a mixed bag. First the Cheese Chicken Roll was surprisingly good. Imagine the Beef Roll and swap things around to get something off of a fancy KFC menu. It features a crispy flaky tortilla outside, wrapped around copious chicken (katsu texture), some lettuce for a crunch, some melted cheese, and then a spicy Thousand-Island type dressing. It all pairs well, has a good chicken portion, and texture variation too. My only desire would be for slightly more lettuce and slightly less cheese, otherwise perfect. Crispy Lotus Root Fries are solid, but not a replacement for typical potato fries. The lotus version was not as crispy or crunchy, but would be an Asian version. It comes with ketchup and the same spicy thousand island dressing as the chicken roll. Lastly we were let down by the Pan Fried Shrimp&Chicken Dumplings (Whole Wheat). The whole wheat wrapping had a very slight texture difference, not as chewy as the typical dumpling wrapping. But the inside was the main focus. It seemed like it was a fishball inside, a homogenous color and texture and more reminiscent of fish than of shrimp. It's possible we got the wrong dumpling. Based on this experience we would not order it again. Wheat wrapping would be fine, but the shrimp/chicken filling would be a no.

At random hours, there can be tons of movement outside the restaurant. The food here?? Oh my gosh. I absolutely love that combination plate. I always order the combination meat with grilled chicken vermicelli noodles. I think this time I went was probably the best I've received! My boyfriend and I decided to try their fried rice because we constantly order the same thing here and in all honesty? It was delicious! They added a generous amount of beef to the dish. I honestly thought it was great. Their lemonade straight up tastes like lemons were truly used (we have a lemon tree and it reminds me of my dad's lemonade.) Highly recommend the food here. She was attentive, warm, and genuinely great with my daughter. The one hiccup came when my daughter wanted to swap a meat option for steamed veggies in her pho. Daisy let us know the kitchen doesn't accommodate menu customizations, so we got creative and ordered everything on the side. It worked out, though it ended up costing about the same as a kids' pho for what amounted to a simple substitution. Outside of that, the experience was excellent, the restaurant was clean, the service was top-notch, and the menu had a solid variety to choose from. The lack of flexibility with customization is the only reason I'm not giving five stars, but I'd still recommend Mama Hong's without hesitation.
