We got complementary chips and salsa since it was our first time in. Usually there is a cost for chips and salsa, which totally makes sense because they are fresh made. Totally worth getting! I got guac and it was fresh and tasty. Also went with a vegetarian combo. It was absolutely the best vegetarian Mexican food I've gotten in the triad. We've read so many great reviews for this place on a local FB page that we decided to give it a try. When we walked in, I immediately noticed the color scheme, I love the colors they chose for the walls and booths and chairs as well as the way they tied the wall art into the color scheme! Our server was really sweet. She gave us plenty of time to review the large menu before asking if we were ready to order. The chips came out piping hot! Very rarely does this still occur at a Mexican restaurant! The salsa was smooth with a slight bite. I ordered the quesabirria tacos and they were delicious! The cheese could have been spread out more as it was mostly at the bottom but everything tied together nicely. My husband did a combo platter and enjoyed his beef taco and beef burrito. The only thing I was not a fan of was the queso fundido. The cheese was very thin and the chorizo did not melt into it. (4.5 stars) High Point lost an underrated sleeper hit of a Mexican restaurant when Crazy Mexico decamped for Greensboro. Thankfully, the location didn't remain empty for long. Habanero is still new - they don't have their liquor license yet - but early indications suggest that they are a more than worthy successor. As with the previous tenant, the nondescript shopping plaza location is bigger than it looks from the outside. My wife and I arrived on a Saturday night and had no problem finding a table. Staff were friendly and welcoming, and service here was excellent: attentive servers and a surprisingly fast kitchen. Habanero boasts a large menu boasting everything you'd expect to find and then some: tacos, burritos, enchiladas, quesadillas, chimichangas, and more. We were in the mood for something different, so we started with an order of pepinos (cucumbers with salt, lime, and chili powder) to go with a steak quesadilla and a tropical (chicken, bacon, shrimp, pineapple, red and yellow peppers). Nearly everything was tasty. The cucumbers were refreshing, the meat in the quesadilla was tender, and the shrimp were flavorful (and paired well with the pineapple). About the worst that can be said is that the salsa (smooth and oddly sweet) was unimpressive, but that's a relatively small bone to pick. High Point does not lack for Mexican options, and Habanero may not displace an existing favorite. But much like its predecessor in this location, it has the potential to be one of the city's IYKYK spots: unheralded, reliable, and worthy of wider exposure. read more

We stopped on here after seeing a video on tiktok recently. I wanted to try a couple different things so I ordered a burrito plate with rice and beans and the queso birra tacos. The service was great! We were greeted quickly and friendly and our server was amazing. This is a typical Mexican spot but man was the food tasty. The burrito was an average burrito as was the rice and beans. The chips and salsa were freshly made and the chips were nice and crisp. The birra tacos however were out of this world. The beef was so tender and had an ample amount of cheese in them. The consume to dip them in was delicious. So flavorful! Well let me jump on the bandwagon because this place is delicious! My husband and I stopped in for lunch and there was not a single thing we didn't love. We got a California burrito and chorizo pollo with a side of queso. The mains, top notch. My burrito was huge, so fresh, and all the right fixings/innards lol will reheat later and is easily another meal. Queso, perfect consistency. House salsa not too heavy on the cilantro (ya girl is a girl). Chips had great flavor and consistency. The horchata, hubs said is not grainy and "exactly what horchata should taste like". His chorizo pollo was chopped up perfectly so he could scoop it onto his house made corn tortillas. We asked and they are in fact made in house and fresh. Bryan was phenomenal, attentive without being overbearing. And the owner/manager checked on us as well. Safe to say this is a new go to restaurant for us. Clean, well lit, ample parking/seating ratio. And well priced. My family and I wanted to give this new Mexican restaurant a try. Wow!!! what a great decision. The food is so authentic and the service was amazing. The manager Manny greeted us and welcomed us as soon as we walked in. He even gave us suggestions on the top dishes. He was amazing. Our waitress was awesome also. The chips and salsa were fairly standard. I got the quesabirria tacos on the server's recommendation. The meat was pretty tasty if not a tad dry; the cheese similar to mozzarella. The staff was friendly and welcoming. I was seated and quickly received tortilla chips, which were still warm with salsa. It was delicious! I ordered Quesa Birria tacos, they were absolutely fantastic! Filled full with well seasoned shredded beef and cheese with cilantro and onion then a dipping sauce which was amazing. I saw a TikTok review of this place and it decided to try it. I lived in California for almost 10 years so I know good Mexican food. I could tell from watching the review this place was amazing. There are a lot of good Mexican restaurants and there a few great ones as well. This place here stands alone as absolutely amazing. This is as authentic as Mexican food gets from the in house made chips and salsa to the homemade agua frescas. The service here is very umique and makes you feel at home.
