My sweetheart and I used to enjoy coming here once in a while. Not anymore. What Happened?? The Portabella Char was our favorite. What happened? The entire burger assembly is smaller than it was before. The Portabella mushrooms used to be slices of Portabella caps, cooked on the grill. Delicious. This time they were small pieces of mushroom- they were sparse and looked too small to cook on the grill. Maybe a skillet or flat top? It just was not good. We came here for a few years, now will find another place. The one thing that I will say is that the staff is very helpful and polite. There was a couple of elderly women that came in and sat in the booth next to us. They were treated so nicely, and they brought their order when ready. Offered in teriyaki and BBQ flavor. The ahi tuna filet sandwich is also grilled and all so yummy. The portabella mushroom is grilled to a smoky, carmelized flavor. They have an impossible burger and veggie sandwich for the vegetarians. Crispy fried green beans. Sweet potato fries. Four different kinds of salads. Onion rings. Hand spun milkshakes, cones, and sundaes. Besides the HFCS fountain sodas, they offer two types of iced teas and two flavors of lemonade that are made with cane sugar, no HFCS. You can order on an app, at the onsite self serve kiosk, or in person with a human being. Have been a long time customer at this Folsom location. The current staff has been great, no complaints. On my last visit, Hubs and I dined in for a late weekday dinner. We enjoyed the food. But the majority of tables needed a wipe down and floors directly under the tables sure did need a sweeping. I was excited to try habit burger with my grandson and finally get a taste of this place that I so often hear people talking about. The location is great and the service was definitely friendly and helpful as we stared at the menu, navigating our options. My grandson love the house made chocolate milk and eagerly watched while it was mixed and blended behind the counter. This location felt a bit more spacious than the others I've been to in Sacramento. I liked that they had order kiosks available right when you walk in so you can avoid the lines at the register. Our milkshakes & fries came out pretty quickly. I was surprised that it cost extra for sauce with our sweet potato fries! There was no charge with the ranch with our regular fries though. The food was good, but there was a serious issue that needs taking care of. I went to wash my hands after eating, and the water was so hot it burned my skin. It was so hot, I couldn't finish washing my hands, so I just wiped off all the soap and went to speak with someone at the front about it. I was told by the woman at the front that someone else had mentioned that to them. There was no sign posted warning the next users. When I asked to speak to a manager, I was told no one there is qualified to fix the issue (I told her it just needed to be adjusted by turning knobs underneath the vanity and she repeated herself and still would not get the manager). I hope you all fix this before someone gets hurts worse than I did. I was first introduced to The Habit while living in the dorms at UC Santa Barbara. Back then, there was no In N Out in Goleta or Santa Barbara, so, The Habit was about the best we could do. (While I'm a bigger fan of In N Out overall, if I had to choose between the Folsom locations of In N Out or The Habit, I would actually choose The Habit ten times out of ten.) By the time The Habit Burger Grill came to Folsom in the summer of 2012, I was a huge fan. I immediately fell in love with the new location, with its large posters of Santa Barbara and Birds of Paradise flowers (which are very common along the streets of downtown Santa Barbara). That summer, I was working at the Office Depot which used to be located in the same parking lot as The Habit (it's now Planet Fitness). My boss would sometimes buy The Habit for whoever sold the most protection plans that day (which was almost always me). So, safe to say I've been here many, many times, and most of my experiences have been great. I usually order either a Teriyaki Char or BBQ Bacon Char with white American cheese. (No matter how many times I come here, I always ask for Swiss, and then say "that's fine" when they explain that the closest cheese is white American.) It's been so long since I've had their regular French fries that I can't even remember what they taste like, but, I love their Sweet Potato Fries and Tempura Green Beans. Onion rings are also a great choice, or, if you're not sure, you can always order half and half! The milkshakes are good, but I think I stopped ordering them around the same time that they started printing the calories on the menu board. Back in Santa Barbara, I used to be obsessed with the malt shakes, but I haven't seen those on the menu in NorCal. Recently, I stopped by for my birthday burger, and had a kind of weird experience. It's a good thing that I was already such a long-standing fan of The Habit, or I would have been less than impressed. Knowing that I could order any burger I wanted and then have the cost of a regular Char burger deducted, I asked the cashier if I could do this, and he said-- no. "But, I could ring up a Char, and then add the cheese and pineapple, and take off the birthday discount, and then you pay the difference." I think he was just new, because, a few minutes later, I heard the manager explain to him how he should have rung it in as a Teriyaki Char and then deducted the birthday code. "Remember, man?" This particular burger had barely any pineapple, and was drowning in what seemed like a quarter cup of mayonnaise, which I am not even a big fan of. It was kind of a sad birthday burger. But, out of the dozens upon dozens of times I've dined at The Habit, this was the *only* less than great experience I've *ever* had. Overall, they've been great, and I will definitely keep coming back. Although, next time, I will probably ask for light mayo. read more

The food is fine. Pretty standard for what you'd expect from any of the Habit locations. They definitely have good burgers and their fries are on point. As far as the food goes here, it's definitely a "yes" for me. The drawbacks for this location were the clear lack of cleanliness, and the transition to electronic ordering screens. No personal touch anymore, and it's pretty obvious based on how they take care of the rest of the place. In the thirty minutes we were there, there was a "caution wet floor" sign over a spilled milkshake under a table. At no point did anybody make any effort to clean it up. The counters also weren't wiped down and it just seemed like there was a lack of care, which is disappointing. Going away from the human touch with electronic ordering boards is also a drawback. Ordering takes twice as long AND the stupid machine has the audacity to ask for a tip still. So they don't talk to you, and the only thing they do is click a button when the order is ready and set it on the counter for you to come pick it up. Get out of here with your tip nonsense. Overall, I love the Habit's food. Always fairly satisfied when I go, but was thoroughly unimpressed with their ordering and lack of cleanliness. read more
