I am a BIG fan of my local Habit Burger on Las Gallinas Avenue next to the Northgate Mall in San Rafael. Robust and tasty burgers, salads, and sides; fast and friendly service; spotless and bright location; generous portions and good value. On my last visit the food and service were wonderful, as usual, but I want to thank the manager, Karina, for going out of her way to help me with the HB phone app (yes, I AM of a certain age) and redeem an HB offer I received in my email. From kiosk order to food in hand took almost 15 minutes. I watched my order for extra crispy fries hit the prep stand and remain there for 7 minutes before being mated with the rest of the order. They WERE crispy, but they were only medium warm by the time I received them. The burger was overcooked, dry, and left a slightly "off" flavor in my mouth. Baja Crispy Fish -Don't bother, I love fish, had high hopes, but ended in complete disappointment. A mushy little, and I mean tiny sandwich, had more bun than fish, and the slaw was practically puréed, and was the predominant filling of this very underwhelming and terribly overpriced $11 slaw-wich. Why do businesses bother adding items they can't master. Ive never been a real fan of their burgers, I think they excel at chicken sandos and sides honestly. Convenient location across from Northgate Mall. Lots of parking and seating, both inside and out on the patio. Lunchtime was busy, but order line moved fast and wait time for food was reasonable. We had two char cheeseburgers, an order of fries and an order of onion rings. I really enjoyed the onion rings. Burger and fries were ok, but likely won't bring me back. read more

OK so I wouldn't normally go out of my way to write a yelp review for the Habit, don't get me wrong--the food is good, it has never disappointed. I go so infrequently that I forget that they have TEMPURA GREEN BEANS, OMG!! So yeah, I got those which did not go wrong & a BBQ bacon charburger. Good lord, I feel like I've gone to heaven. The reason for this review is the same reason for my trip which was the salad. I got an email saying that I could get a free salad with $5 order. Sounds like a plan right?? But then my email was not communicating with the app & the passwords & I just said forget it. But you know what?? Adi, the manager there, said she felt bad for me & gave me the salad anyways as a surprise when I got my order. TALK ABOUT INCREDIBLE SERVICE! This girl takes the cake. I ordered the $10 Gotta Habit Meal with a half burger, chicken nuggets, and tempura beans. It seemed like a strange combination to have chicken with my burger, but the chicken was crisp, flavorful, and plentiful. The burger included avocado, but I couldn't taste it. It was difficult eating a half burger because there wasn't enough bread to contain all the ingredients that kept slipping out. I agree with other reviewers--the chicken sandwich (on the $6 occasional special) is much better than the burger. The burgers are quite bland and boring. I dislike the music, but at least it was at a low volume. I wish they didn't play the music outside--some of us just want to have a relaxing meal. read more

I stood there telling this very unfriendly worker that I'm ready to order! More than 5 times, I got closer and I can see that she's in social media!! Unbelievable.. embarrassing how she ignored me completely.. when I raised my arms in the air saying 'hello!! Hello!' She walked to the register still holding her device and said 'yes... This is an update from my review. Management reached out to me regarding my response for serving well done seared ahi burgers and they have addressed it and now they are medium rare. I can honestly say the the Ahi burger I recently ordered was indeed seared on the outside and rare on the inside. I was happy to see the improvements made. I hope they stay consistent. Although I have had several meals there, as it's close to my house, I haven't quite made Habit a... er habit. The service is good and fast, being a fast food place as it should be. The employees are almost all Latino, efficient and polite. I only mention their ethnicity because key people in positions of power believe that these hard-working folks somehow don't belong here. I heartily disagree. But I digress. My go-to item is the ahi sandwich. It's delicious and not expensive. Had it several times, as quality consistencey has been drilled into the program. The one time I tried a hamburger, it was a bit disappointing. Fairly flavorless, so much so, I went to the condiment bar to find something, anything that would impart some flavor. They slather on some sauce(s), melted cheese and a greasy burger so in a matter of minutes, you're a mess. It's basically an In-and-Out type of burger only a little more expensive. I'll stick with the ahi. Maybe try a salad even. read more

Horrible service from the manager. I literally saw her be mean to an old lady who needed help with her kiosk order. The manager didn't even try to help the old lady. She doesn't even call your order number out she just puts it on the counter with a horrible look on her face. It's literally the same worker who was on her phone in one of the last reviews. As someone from Santa Barbara who grew up with Habit, I am sad that it has become so corporate. The workers have been trained to get you THE CUSTOMET to use their POS systems but they don't give you all the options. (Eg cant choose sourdough bread)... they also nickel and dime you for extra sauce and they don't realize that the menu SAYS that certain items COMES WITH SAUSE so you end up paying 60 cents extra for a sause you should get for free. The ambiance use to be charming and now it is very corporate. This is not a fault of anyone except the faceless corporation who took over this once family business. read more

Always fresh and hot fries, thick, real ice cream milkshakes, the burgers are cooked perfectly, and I love the charbroil taste--the staff is efficient and friendly--emphasis on efficient. The thing that stands out to me is the cleanliness of the entire restaurant and bathrooms. You can order on the screens or go directly to the counter. We had never tried Habit burger before. We usually get burgers at the other place who's name rhymes.. At first glance the place looked clean but the tables were not wiped down. We got the char burger and fries. There was a number of condiments to choose from which includes 2 types of peppers, different hot sauces, Worcestershire, and A-1 sauce and of course ketchup. The burger was not greasy (like the other place who's name rhymes) which was great but it also lacked some flavor. Even tho I added A1 sauce and pepperocinis. Love habit burger! I'm so excited that they opened up a new location here in Terra Linda! The location is next to the CVS where the old car repair shop used to be. The location is super near and fancy. I loved that they have both register ordering and self ordering at the door. Lots of parking outside. No drive through for those who were wondering. The location is right across from the North Gate mall. It was quite busy during lunch time on a Sunday which is expected. I ordered the #2 meal which includes: 1. Double charbroiled burger: SO GOOD! Perfectly cooked and very flavorful. Love the melted cheese and the quality of the burger. 2. Fries: perfectly cooked and crunchy. Perfect amount of salt. 3. Fountain drink: I tried a few of the teas which aren't sweetened but I ended up getting the strawberry lemonade which was really good but very sweet. Came in for the free meal 8/15/22 for the first 200 guests. The new restaurant is lovely inside and out. All the staff I interacted with were wonderful and nice. The charburger was overdone. I'll chalk that up to being super busy and new. The French fries were hot and delicious. The meal would normally have cost $13, so on the more expensive side for fast food. The food was ok! Not the best Habit I've had but ok. The tropical iced tea bin was full. yay. Issue: need to be wiping down tables. Every table I went to was messy with crumbs etc. Ick. Not a huge seating area, so should be a priority. Ketchup dispenser was not working. Had to get packets. Was the meal that I got worth the price paid? $11.99 plus tax? no.
