Really disappointed in them lately. The other week I ordered for pick up and received minimal chicken and a stale end nub of bread that was about the size of their dressing container lid. I received credit online for the disappointing food and placed another order on Friday for pick up. It was placed at 1:54pm after the normal lunch rush with an estimated ready time of 2:15. I left my office at 2:15 to pick it up since it hadn't updated on the app. Usually it's always ready by the time I get there so I got to the restaurant about 10-15minutes later. It was empty, no other food on the shelf expect my order. I went to pick it up and everything was checked off on the receipt. The sticker and bread were covering most of it so I didn't open the sealed lid to check. Once I got to my office I opened the container and saw that there was no chicken even though it was ordered and the receipt shows it was checked off. I was hungry and really disappointed that the main part of the meal was missing. No notes about it. Then at 3:37pm I get an email that it's ready to be picked up.... If I had waited until then that means my food would have been sitting out at room temp for almost an 1.5hrs which is unacceptable. If they were waiting to cook more chicken I don't think it would take 1.5hrs and they definitely shouldn't have had the food sitting out. There should be some communication if there are issues or if they are out of something. It shouldn't be checked off if it isn't in the container. On the app they offered me the same $10 credit I received for the other order with very small portions, but I feel that I can't trust them anymore to fulfill the order. I started to question if I was the silly one for waiting 15 minutes not even have the chance to order a $20 salad with not so much as a nod in my direction. The sushi restaurant called me bc they thought I left without taking my order home. I gave up - 23 mins of waiting with no hello, no salad. I ordered the caramelized garlic steak seasonal bowl with 3 sauces Miso, Pesto, and Spicy. I didn't use all of the sauces at once. It is nice to have options. The steak bit like filet mignon, not tough to the bite, tender, flavorful. The wild rice was nice. Not bland, perfect Al dente. Spicy broccoli wasn't even spicy. It was crunchy which was fine. The tomatoes were tomatoing but the star of this bowl is the roasted sweet potatoes. Let them soak up the sauce and enjoy. I couldn't eat the entire bowl in one sitting, but it was perfect because I ate half with the miso ginger sauce and the other half with the pesto sauce. I poured the spicy sauce all over the entire bowl when I first got it still piping hot. It's not easy for me to find gluten free, dairy free, delicious AND healthy takeout. This is one of my shameless repeats. Oh wait. I meant guilt free. Shameless is appropriate for another use case. My first experience at Sweet Green was very pleasant, as two friends treated me to lunch there. The place was immaculately clean, and the staff welcoming. I ordered the steak, with baked sweet potato, sliced tomatoes, and warm mixed grains, with a pesto dressing, plus a can of Kombucha. The steak was cut up in small pieces, which I appreciated, as it made it easier to eat. The taste of the food overall was a bit bland, and could have used a bit more seasoning. It was a very plentiful serving, and I took half home to enjoy for dinner. Seating is limited inside, but outside there was lots. Fortunately, it was a lovely day, so we dined al fresco. I intend to go back to try something else. The food is already prepped, and, depending on what you order, ranges from $15-18. I checked the tracking again and it still said bring prepared. I finally got an email that it was ready at 453p. Almost 1.5 hrs later than it was supposed to be. Apparently, they forgot to hit the button or whatever is involved. Was not at all busy when I went in. Lesson learned. I waited a half an hr when I had many errands to do on NY eve. Sweetgreen is a national fast casual chain of healthy salad bowls. Call it Sweet Tomatoes meets Chipotle in concept. Build your own salads the way you like them. Like other "Puzzle" food concepts, you put the pieces together, starting with a base and adding toppings, dressings, textures and flavors. You know that $5 clear plastic box of mixed greens or spinach you get at Safeway? Start with about 1/5 -1/6 of that in a paper bowl, roughly medium Pho bowl size, as your base, or mix with a carb, like wild rice. You get 4 toppings free, and that combo starts at $9.95. There are a lot of premium toppings that cost $1-$3 more each (I.e. avocado, grilled tofu, etc). You can pick your salad dressing, which comes in those plastic mini containers that is about the size of the Tempura dipping sauce I get from the local Japanese restaurant for takeout. They have on the overhead digital menus 5 Warm Bowls set for you, like Harvest, Crispy Rice, Chicken Pesto, Shroomami (mushrooms), or Fish Taco ($15-$17) And 5 set Salads: Guacamole Greens, Kale Caesar, Super Green Goddess, Hummus Crunch, and Buffalo Chicken ($11-$15.50). I had a mixed green and wild rice base, toppings of raw beets, avocado, carrot shoe strings, cucumbers, some almond bits, with a hot honey mustard dressing, Rosemary Foccacia bread, and a Healh-Ade Kombucha, all totaling $27+. Not cheap, but this is Marin county, nothing is here. And being Marin county, 90% of the clients are pale, 90% of those working are POC. Sweetgreen has well over 100-200 locations in mostly Blue State urban areas, and was founded in DC by 3 recent grads of Georgetown business school in 2006. In 2023 based on Q1 financial results, it is projected to have revenue close to $500 million, but an annual loss of perhaps $100 million. In fact, it hasn't made a profit in 17 years, ever. So even though they serve healthy food, use local farming, has a compost program for waste, etc., they may not be around forever. Perhaps there investors, like Naomi Osaka, the Black/Japanese tennis star who invested, will lose out, and of course the people working at Sweetgreen's many locations. We'll see. They have a new "SweetPass" frequent eater program, where you pay $10/month, and you get $3 off your bowls, how often I am not sure. They are also testing their first fully automated kitchen in Illinois. So this might help save money toward a profit eventually, either way, this may not be a long term career option, lots of greens but not a lot of greenbacks. read more

I don't think most who think "fast food" typically think it will cost $16 for a fairly small meal, but on the plus side, you are eating fairly healthy food here. Most meals are salad based, or quinoa based. Mine included a healthy protein, quinoa, a little bit of cabbage, kale and carrot slaw. Was not wowed by the taste of my meal. Bonus points for democratizing healthy fast food, which is a big plus. Hours at this Greenbrae location (open until 7 pm) allow for family dining. The lettuce was yellow and brown and wilted. I kept picking out the pieces which wasn't enjoyable to do at all. It was a complete contrast from my previous orders. I ordered later in the morning than I usually do so maybe that is why? I have no clue. One upside is it's easy to order ahead on their website. I really like this option rather than standing in line. I've been so excited to visit Sweetgreen's Bon Air location, but they are only open until 3pm, which isn't ideal for me. Hopefully only short term as it would be a great spot for an early dinner with kids. My husband had the buffalo chicken salad and I had the crispy chicken salad. Both were great, but I slightly preferred his salad to mine and will get that next time. The ingredients were fresh and the service was quick. I like option to dress your salad either lite, medium or heavy dressing. The salads are definitely smaller than Blue Barns and are a few dollars less per item, but it was still a $40 lunch for 2 salads and a kombucha. But is what it is, and food costs are expensive anywhere! So next time I want a salad (for lunch), I'll add this with Rustic and Blue barn as an awesome option. read more

I paid by CC and for some reason I wasn't able to make out what machine was asking me to do (perhaps my brain was tired from communicating all week long from the east bay) Who knows. I popped through just before closing and ordered a garlic steak salad with a couple of changes to suit my palate. I swapped out Bleu cheese for parmesan and went with balsamic vinaigrette instead of their recommendation. Service was attentive and quick. Quality was ok and ingredients are fresh, except for a $20 salad, the bar is set higher, and I expect something better than what they are serving up.
