if I could give 0 stars I would! when donating and arranging pickups there is 0 communication. I was cancelled on 4 times in 2 weeks causing me to lose money at work and taking time off for a scheduled pick up that did not happen. on top of getting attitude from Tori who was facilitating the pickup. I had to call 4 different numbers because the automatic service doesn't not give an option to speak to a person. I will NEVER donate to this place ever again! it's unfortunate because you want to give to good causes but the people are what ruin it in the end. read more

I called ahead yesterday and asked about a few items to take and they said no problem. I didn't mention that we had furniture, but I thought they shouldn't have a problem! Our truck rolls up and the volunteers /WORKERS looked at the truck and gave a big sigh and decided not to take our load. 2 chairs, head boards, 1 dining table, 1 desk, art, rugs and 2 boxes of accessories. Not a lot of stuff! Our movers took it to Goodwill instead... Which is not the best company. Very disappointing read more

Doors as low as $10.00, used globe bulbs for my patio string of lights as low as $0.25 each, kitchen cabinets, random cabinetry parts including doors, shelves & hardware, dining room sets, china cabinets, sofas, coffee tables, bed frames, canvas art, lumber, vintage tools, power tools, paint, paint brushes, toilets, chandeliers, vinyl records, flooring, crown moulding, trims, books, plumbing stuff, donations from homes, construction site leftovers, used hotel furniture, used retail display cases, pianos, doors, windows, area rugs, carpet remnants, the list changes every week. Just walking in this store will get my creativity inspired! If you're like me, expect to spend at least an hour in this store. My best purchases: Vintage full size bed $60, mitre wood box $10, bi-fold doors $10, used vanity lighting $10, stair balusters $2, paint $10/gallon, $1 paint brushes & foam rollers, $3-$5 cabinet door pieces, $1.00 cabinet pulls, $0.25 drop ceiling brackets, $1.00 towel rods just to name a few! My husband and I are in desperate need of new living room furniture...a coffee table, an end table, and an entertainment center/tv stand to be specific. We are on a very tight budget because we are about to move cross country to Colorado. I heard from a friend of the family to check this place out, and boy am I glad that I did! I found the perfect coffee table, and got to spin a wheel to save 20% on the already ridiculously low price of $35. I adore the piece, and can't wait to see what treasures I will find at the Colorado locations I found on Google maps. I must also mention the staff. They were so kind and helpful. Good store for a great cause! Don't know what ReStore is? Basically it's a thrift store for home items. It falls under the Habitat for Humanity charity. Household items are donated at the store, and new customers can then buy and "restore" their home. Habitat for Humanity then uses the proceeds from the store to pay for materials to build homes for people that can't afford them. They have a good selection of items at a decent price. read more

I've been to most of the Habitat Restores in the past few weeks due to rehabbing a rental property. You can always come here and find great deals on everything you need for your home or a rehab. You never know what you may find when you come here. This specific location is the largest one that I have been to with what I would call more high end items. Whenever you come in make sure to have your measurements so you don't buy the wrong item. There are no returns. Some items have a 7 day warranty though. You can also come here to donate items in which you don't need or can't use to help others in need. read more

I will be honest; I'm surprised there are no reviews for this location. If there are, I couldn't find the listing...and it has been open for a while! I first popped in last fall, just to see what they had when I needed to replace a fridge quickly. They had a good selection at the time (but as things are donated it changes from time to time) They had a brand new fridge that had been a prop in a movie and it would have been perfect for me except I needed a white fridge and it was black! I've swung by for a food drive they were having and so I know they are working in and around the community. I appreciate that. This week I was browsing for a kitchen light fixture. My neighbor actually got a great deal on a nice looking light for his dining room so I decided to see what they had in the way of kitchen ceiling lights. Dontcha know the very first light I saw there was the one I ended up going back to get after a HUGE fiasco with an expensive light at a chain store??? Instead of spending $130, I spent $12! :) And the light looks as lovely as can be! They have loads of other things that you might need if you were in the market to remodel. It would definitely be worth your while to stop in and look, especially if you have a better idea of what you are looking for than I usually do! Good selection of building materials to support a great cause! The volunteers at the store are very friendly, don't bother you while you are looking, but are always ready to answer a question or Lend a hand. The deals go fast but when you hit it right you get great bargains. I was able to replace all of my bedroom windows for less than $90 per window. Retail would've been close to $300 per window. read more

Such a great organization and I really appreciate all that they do for the Chicagoland area. That being said, this review is a review that I am writing comparing this location to other habitat restore locations, including Joliet and Addison which I patronize frequently. This place has a decent selection of everything, but the prices are probably 15 times that of the other locations. Not 15% higher, 15 times higher. Need a huge area rug? Get one at Addison for $25. Get one here for $530... No joke! Need some 70s kitchen cabinets for your rental? Get them here for $3300 or got them in Addison or Joliet for $500-$600. Need a headboard? Check out the one that they have here that is particleboard and damaged for $290 or head over to Joliet and pick one up that is solid wood for $50. Last but certainly not least, there was a glass set here for $40 that can literally be found at any thrift store in the area for $.49 each. Good for them if they can get these prices, but it would be offensive to me if I donated things to them and they were trying to rip off people in need. read more

Well, this was fun! I stopped in for one thing and came home with something completely different. I guess you never know what you'll find, and that's half the fun. Like a treasure hunt almost. I found a couple of replacement screens that were brand new! A bargain of a price and on Wednesdays you get to "spin the wheel" for an extra added bonus! I definitely will be back! NEVER SHOP, VOLUNTEER OR WORK AT THIS PLACE. If i could give this place no stars I would. I went to this place to at attend their orientation for volunteers 5/7/16. When i arrived the first person I ran into to ask about the meeting was this lady who looked of Latin descent with black hair and stood about 5'9. She was not friendly, rude rather. I brushed it off, thinking maybe it was just me. About 5 minutes later this Caucasian lady with sandy colored hair who stood close to the same height as the other lady and seemed to be pregnant. She seemed to have a more pleasant demeanor. She took the orientation group of about 4 people to the back office and sat us down in chairs. I happened to be sitting in front of one of their computers. As the lady was speaking going over details, some guy who is about medium weight size, stands about 5'9 with loose salt and pepper colored hair he looks more of Spanish descent. I wish i knew all thier names so i could state them. He stands next to my chair, than rudely exasperated for the whole room to hear. He than says to me, I quote "move". Just like that as if he's talking to an animal. I turn to him and say sorry thinking I misheard. He than says again with the same tone "move". So I say to him, "do you know how to ask politely?" The Caucasian lady than says to me "that's our front end manager. You can leave!" I asked "wait, I have to leave?" She says "yea, you can leave." I got up and said " wow, you guys are very disrespectful." As I was walking out of the room the guy says "all I said was move." If this is supposed to be a place that helps people in need why do the staff have no people skills. I feel sorry for the staff who work under them and the customers who have to deal with them. I will be contacting this company's president, posting this all over the web. This situation can be interpreted many ways, especially discriminatory by name. After donating 3 times for a total of hundreds of dollars of building materials I had an unfortunate experience. I arrived at 7:45 pm (They close at 8). The man accepting my van load of donations went inside and came back several minutes later--after beginning to unload my donation. When eh was finally done it was 7:58. I drove tot he front of the building and wanted to run in to get a track light fixture. The door was locked. When I got the attention of the person inside who would only talk with me through 2 glass doors I found that I could not come in. I explained that I had just made a donation and only needed one item and knew exactly where it was--NO DICE--Why should I donate to them when they can't even provide a bit of understanding and good customer service? read more

I used to work at the restore as receiving dock through a school summer youth employment program, I worked there for around 4 months and was offered a permanent job that I had to turn down, Most of the items donated are put out onto the floor.. Others of value and wealth are stashed away or chosen by managers to keep or sell for cheap to the employees or worse.. taken free... The managers at this location have a company card which is used to pay for the necessities of the job Every single day working here (at the back dock near parking lot) I would witness the managers coming back from lunch with mc donalds, frappes, every single day. I said to myself (wow they must spend a lot eating out) then one day when being asked to work on a day off I was offered my lunch paid for "its covered by the company, you sure you don't want anything?" If you plan on donating : "recyclable electronics" "vintage items" "anything of value" Expect them to end up in a home of an employee rather then the item "helping build habitats for humanity" Or even better, paying for the workers lunches every single day. read more

It is hit or miss of what you might find and how it is priced. For certain projects used is good enough. I had no bad experiences with the staff like others have. I am giving 5 stars, because you can find great bargains some of the time. read more

This was my first visit to any Re Store. I found some really affordable items here. Associates were helpful.

The web site requests that pre-approval be obtained for donations, providing a complete description and pictures. We have some excellent condition items and sent a description along with pictures for pre-approval. We received a cryptic e-mail response saying that all items should be in the garage and that all donations are accepted at the drivers discretion. So there wasn't any point in sending the e-mail or pictures, since their form paragraph reply did not either accept or reject the items. Therefore, we willl donate to another charity who is more committed to their cause by following their own guidelines. read more

4/6/2013 Very BAD experience avoid if possible there are plenty of other stores close by Yesterday I was visiting Family in Aurora, IL. I really was looking for the opportunity to visit the Restore as I am not in the area very often. I regularly shop at various Restore's in the southern Illinois area and have been very satisfied with the service and pricing. I was surprised to see that the pricing in this store was very high for reclaimed items but there was a large selection. I collected a section of used 1" pipe about a foot long consisting of several fittings and connected pieces. 4 of the pieces were marked for $1 each and 2 had no markings but they were all connected and seemed to belong together. Again, the price was a little high since the same fittings could be bought new for 1.29 at a different store down the street. I picked up a packed of bolts marked $. 50. I get to the checkout and I offered $6.00 for the bolts and the pipe. The clerk insisted that they cannot bargain and that all prices are strictly as marked. I pointed out that 2 of the pieces are not marked so could he just charge me $6.00 for the whole thing and I usually donate the loose change. The clerk then again insisted that all prices are marked and if there is no price they will have to look it up. Finally there were two Managers A clerk , myself and a line of people waiting to check out. The two managers looked up all the prices and the total came to $9.85 so i decided not to get the pipe because of the bad experience. Was it worth it guys. The Moral: Bad business decisions are probably why the prices are so high. By refusing a reasonable offer you cost your company money and a bad review for $2 Guys-really. read more

It's sad that Kristy's review was written in 2013 and not only has nothing changed, but I'd bet that many of the same items are still on the shelves. Whereas most Restores seem to take the approach of marking things down every month, this place sticks to their ridiculous prices as if they were written in stone, and seems to prefer to hoard donations. Dated price tags go back several years, and the shelves in the furniture area are stacked to the ceiling with a donation of kitchen cabinets which I helped price at the chicago location when I volunteered there over three years ago. Furthermore, many items are not priced and when I inquire I'm often given a price that is very close to retail. If something hasn't sold in three years it's obviously priced too high. It's unfortunates that this Restore would rather keep all the donations than sell them to people who need them. This place really is a joke. read more
