I got to tell you. This place was great. I haven't been in the south in a few years, and I've forgotten just how pleasant people are. We live in NY, have a lake house in the Poconos, and spend about six weeks in LA every year. We decided to drive to Florida with a stop in SC, and on the way back NC to see family and check on a property that may have received some damage in the recent storms. After checking into a motel for the evening, we ventured out for dinner. I saw the reviews for Haggerty's and decided to give it a try. We went, ordered some drinks, and dinner. I always ask the server for recommendation's. It's in their best interest to steer you in the right direction. So I did a combo, ribeye and scallops. I asked her what side should I get, and she said the steamed vegetables, "and I don't even like broccoli". Then she rattled off a few more, and I went for the steamed vegetables. Best damn broccoli I ever had. The steak and the scallops were great, cooked to perfection. The house salad and Texas toast, all fresh and delicious. Everyone in the place, from the hostesses', to servers, to bus people, were just really nice people. The owner came by too. You guys are doing a great job, keep it up. We arrived around 5:00 on a Wednesday and the place had several customers. We were seated promptly with perfect accommodation for our friend who uses a wheelchair. We were greeted promptly even though our waitress apologized for a delay! Our drinks came out in great time and our food order did as well. My husband got the grilled chicken and he raves about it! Our waitress suggested a special dill sauce to add to it. He tried it and liked it but the chicken was so good he didn't need it! The salad was good with a good amount of toppings. The food was hot and perfectly done. The manager popped over to check on us as well. I didn't need dessert but couldn't resist a good key lime pie. It wasn't too sweet and was a perfect slice. I had a nice experience at Haggerty's Steakhouse. I was passing through town and sat down at the bar early on a Saturday evening. I ordered their recommended steak with sweet potato fries and Texas toast. Service at the bar was prompt and friendly. The owner inquired how I liked my steak. I gave him a positive response. I finished my entire generous portion. All in all, it was a much nicer experience compared to eating at one of the chain restaurants in town. read more

Haggerty's was disappointing this time around on 11/16/21. Placed an order and waiter could get my salad right! Had a party of 6 so I knew gratuity would be added to a party of that size. Website (which they don't have) or their menu should exactly state how much gratuity should be added to that size. I have been to many great restaurants (not comparing this to this place) and they would specifically mention/state the % gratuity. Never knew that you would be charged extra (to cover fees) if you paid credit card and or debit. Owner came after we paid and asked how good was and told us to leave since others were waiting. Never in my entire place have I experienced this. Customer is always right and owner was rude after that comment. Will not go back and let others know. read more

We came to Haggerty's after Ralph's barbecue closed early. We have a GoldenDoodle dog, Rodger, who is a registered service dog as he helps me with getting around with my handicaps. Though Rodger wore his service dog vest, the hostess not only refused to seat us in the dining room but would not even allow us to sit at the outside tables. She said management will not permit service dogs anywhere in their establishment. When told they are violating federal law, they said they do not care. They should be cited for violating the Disability Act. read more

Pretty good restaurant off the highway. You have to pay attention to the turns otherwise you'll miss it. This place has the feeling of a local place but does have a lot of travelers coming in. At least that's what our waitress said. The service is great. Very friendly and pretty efficient. No taps for beer. Only cans and bottles. They do have wine and mixed drinks. Bar was full, especially since they only have one or two large tables inside. Get the salad from your choice of soup or salad. The soup was basically out of a can, but the salads looked pretty good. Steaks were awesome. Sides were solid. Well worth the stop. All in all, a good cozy place to stop and get a meal. read more

We stopped here on our way to Topsail for a late lunch. The food was really great! My husband said it might've been one of the best burgers he's had in his life! My wife is a disabled vet with a medical service animal. We went in to have a meal and were refused service due to my wife's service animal. Another cozy little diamond in the rough. After long haul on the I-95 corridor we were famished. We had stayed in Roanoke Rapids several times over the past ten years, but this was our first trip to Haggerty's. Don't ask why, because it was nothing short of fantastic. They have a full service tap room right up front, with full food service at the bar. Dining tables are also in the bar area and beyond. The menu isn't overwhelming, but has all the stables, with a nice balance. I ordered the filet mignon 8 Oz, while my wife selected the chopped steak in dark brown gravy. Both were delicious. The chop steak was sirloin and of more than ample serving. The salad was too large for me, so we shared, and it was crunchy with lots of ingredients. The house red wine was very good. I also tried a cup of the gumbo was spicy, but not excessive. We'll be stopping on our return trip for sure. Oh and the waitress was terrific. read more

Great new place. Serves ribeye, seafood and chicken. Salad bar had more than just salad. Dinner starts with crackers and spread cheese. I had the scallops and they come serves on a crispy bread. The salad bar includes 2 different kinds of soup, salad fixings and other pasta salads, etc. Not sure if was a full bar or wine and beer. Seating is limited so get there early. You've got staff who have the kind of "professionalism" of some five-and-dime diner trying to act as though they're working in a five-star restaurant in Long Island. The steaks were good but not noteworthy-- I've had better at other mid-priced establishments. The salad bar was small and limited, and felt too ordinary for those prices. We felt claustrophobic as the seating area was really cramped. Then, they start you off with the pimento cheese and six crackers-- so the immediate impression was not at all favourable! It's friendly enough, but the health department should go in and note several practices seen. Gordon Ramsay would sadly clutch his chest at this place! Overall Experience: A dinner for two, iced tea, and tip cost nearly $80, so... save yourself about $40 and and a huge disappointment and go to Logan's instead. Was searching for a place to eat dinner while in town for the night and the reviews drew me in. Busy Friday evening, but we were seated rather quickly. The waitress was super friendly and service was fast. I got the salmon which was fantastic and the dill sauce made it even more delicious. My friend ordered the ribeye which was also amazing (eventhough he eats it well done which I think is a crime!). The amount of food was just right (each came with two sides). Don't miss this Gem! Location is odd but we'll worth the effort to get there. The atmosphere is that of a locals spot with the owner taking time to visit each table. I had the ribeye and a skewer of scallops along with a salad (it was enormous) and a baked potato. They serve Texas toast with their meals also, but I passed (gluten free). Folks, this was one of my favorite meals ever. The steak was absolutely perfect, and if it weren't for the huge salad, I would have ordered all of the scallops they had. I was driving from the Jersey Shore back to Texas and craving a good steak. I was going to stop at Emporia off 95 for the night but when I saw there was a steak house just 20 miles further down the road with almost a 5 star rating I put the metal on the pedal and kept driving. It was worth EVERY BIT OF IT!!!!! WOW!!!! This place has a full bar, NICE STAFF, GREAT SERVICE. Doug was my waiter and he was so nice! I ordered a 10 oz steak with a baked sweet potato and a side salad. I thought I died and went to Heaven. If you want a juicy great tasting steak get yourself to this amazing place!
