I was really excited to try Haifa Coffee House, but overall I left feeling underwhelmed. I ordered the baklava latte expecting something more house-made or unique, but noticed they were using Torani and Monin syrups for their drinks. For a specialty menu, I was hoping for more in-house flavors rather than standard syrups. I also tried the "Dubai" croissant, which sounded amazing, and even their IG photos looked good but didn't quite meet the expectations. It appeared to be a basic croissant (similar to something you might find at Costco), then they take Nutella and spread it on top themselves, then finished with kataifi and pistachios. I was expecting something more elevated-, like a house-made croissant, possibly filled with pistachio cream and topped with a richer chocolate and pistachio spread. The concept is great, but I think the execution could better match the expectations set by the menu. read more

Haifa coffeehouse is tucked away behind a few restaurants and can be easy to miss so be sure to look out for their signs. I loved steeping inside of this coffee shop, it felt welcoming and rich in cultural heritage. What we ordered: Large iced strawberry matcha latte $8.50 - enjoyed the drink, but was too milky for my preference. I could and should have asked for less milk to have a stronger matcha/ strawberry flavor. Medium hot Dubai matcha latte $8 - absolutely delicious. No complaints. Beautiful presentation and tasted as good as it looked. Manakeesh with half cheese, half za'atar served with l $12 -The flavors were decent, but the portion felt small and the bread was much thinner and less fluffy than what I'm used to with a traditional manakeesh. The za'atar was also very thick and clumped rather than evenly spread out. A note on pricing, the medium Dubai matcha rang up at $8, while the menu lists a large at $7, so the smaller size ended up costing more. Additionally, the strawberry matcha and the manakeesh did not have listed prices. Something I really value is price transparency and accurate listed pricing when visiting a shop. Would I visit again? I would visit again and try more of their traditional offerings. read more

It looks like they specialize in specialty drinks with Middle Eastern spices. They had some yummy looking pastries and cookies and things for sale too! The inside seems cozy, albeit a bit stuffy. Beautiful and cozy Palestinian-owned cafe! My partner and I came here on a lovely Saturday morning and were greeted by the very friendly staff. We got the Burin and the Akka lattes; so so good! The Burin latte had almond roca syrup and the Akka latte was pistachio-flavored, which are such fun flavors. Both drinks had the perfect balance of coffee, sweetness, and smoothness! I can tell the menu has been wonderfully crafted and it makes me wish I lived closer to try all the drinks! This place is tucked into an alleyway that is shared with the outside seating of the neighboring restaurant so it might be a little harder to find. The inside is very nicely decorated and homey. Tucked away in a secret corner lives a Palestinian coffee house. We had the Jerusalem latte and Nazareth and paired with a special of the day, chicken STREET wrap, laveesh and hummus. Please beware of the deception that this small business is displaying, especially if you are Muslim. My parents and I were driving to Big Sur and wanted to grab coffee. Had a choice between two coffee shops, this shop was one of the choices I had, and as soon as I saw it was Palestinian owned I was so excited to support a Palestinian owned shop. However upon receiving the customer service my family and I were extremely disappointed and deceived. There was a line which we waited patiently in, upon my mother and I receiving our coffees it took a lot longer afterwards for my stepfather to receive his. Once he received his coffee he wanted to get sugar before we left. After grabbing his sugar he saw that they had creamer on the counter, but when originally asking for creamer while ordering owner stated they didn't have any creamer (not liquid or powder). Not only was this misleading, but when asking for more sugar the other employee threw the sugar on the counter. The customer service gets worse, as at the bottom of my stepfathers coffee cup there was a whole penny! We called the store to speak with the staff to complain about this matter as this was extremely disrespectful and unsanitary. Inside the shop I had seen the owner grab the coffee cup from a stack that was upside down (meaning this was purposely placed inside). Not only was the owner arguing with my stepfather when he was politely explaining what happened, but even after I got on the phone to speak with the owner she did nothing but argue with me as well. The owner accused us of lying about the penny being in the cup, as she stated she would check the cameras to see if what we were saying was truthful. Which also makes no sense because her checking the cameras doesn't benefit anyone, as she could be lying! Not once in the entire phone conversation did the owner apologize for the penny being in the coffee nor did they apologize for the customer service we received. As someone who has worked in customer service, even if the customer is wrong, the business is still at a minimum supposed to apologize for the inconvenience for the fact of manners. Both my mother and I represent the religion of Islam as we both are hijabis. While speaking on the phone I mentioned to her that if I was in her situation even if the customer is wrong, I would handle the situation with more manners and respectfully, as I represent my religion because I am Muslim. It is apparent that they are against Muslims based on the way that we were treated through the interactions in the store as well as the interactions on the phone, as on the phone the owner laughed and said "I love that for you" in a very sarcastic manner when I said I am a Muslim and represent my religion. I'm making such a long review to warn those who support true Palestinians to avoid this place at all costs. This shop does not honor Palestine nor do they honor the mannerisms and customs that Palestinians are known to carry. They are extremely deceptive and deceiving to the public, and they do not deserve to be trusted. Please spend your money elsewhere, I'm just as shocked as one would be reading this review. read more

We found this tiny hidden gem tucked in the halls of downtown Carmel. My friend and I love looking for small coffee shops anywhere we go, and we saw that this place was Palestinian owned so we had to check it out. Staff were absolutely amazing, they were nice and relatable. The drinks we got were really good and we were both satisfied with our choices. They also had some small pastries, but we didn't get any of them since we were both full. I've had the luxury of tasting a few drinks off their unique menu and I have to say that the Golden Milk is by far my favorite! The baristas were kind and informative, warmly sharing coffee related stories from childhood. What a special addition to downtown Carmel!
