I don't know where to even start, no bias but the sleeve I got done here is the coolest tattoo I've ever seen in my life. My artist was Hailin and he's a mastermind, something that you literally see out of a movie. He doesn't use stencils because he draws the design directly onto your arm, envisioning and visualizing the perfect piece in his head. My jaw literally dropped to the other side of earth when I saw the product from marker (not stencil) to the actual tattoo. His designs and ideas use your references and he custom makes a 1:1 piece and design that will literally exceed your expectations. Another note: he let me eat a lot of his white rabbit candy besides it tasting good, I needed something to bite hard on in the painful areas I'd rate this 3 billion stars out of 5. This review is really late, but I figured I should stand for small businesses like Hailin which deserves more recognition rn more than ever! I am honestly always amazed by the work ethic, attention to detail, and the service the artists here offers. I originally got a tattoo from Nicole who accommodated many of my requests like wanting a matching one with my friend, and also letting me split into 2 sessions because the pain was too much. Btw, rib tattoos hurt like a mf!! I love Nicole and will be getting one from her again soon!! I got another one from Jiang in 07/2020 when LA opened up a bit. By then, it was appointments only and they were pretty strict about masks and other procedures (yay!). Originally the design was a flash tattoo that was entirely pink. I requested to change it into intervals of black & red bc i thought the colors would be classier. It turned out amazing even tho my skin doesn't take in color very well. He offered a complimentary session for colors later on if needed. I love this place because the artists are really honest and passionate about their work. They won't bullsh*t you about price or the possibilities. I saw a 1-star review about not liking your finger tattoos turned out. Everything about Hailin makes me very proud to be Chinese with tattoos. I drove down from NorCal for my appointment after meeting the artist online, knowing that he could design me a coverup pattern that was both beautiful and represented my heritage. We aligned on plum blossoms as they're the flower of my birthplace. When I got there it was a hot summer day but the inside was not only pleasantly cool, it was spacious and super clean. The decor screamed "proudly Chinese owned and operated", with the kind of big art pieces you might see in a Chinatown antiques gallery. But the equipment was also state of the art - every station had a neatly sanitized sheet and a giant halo light. Every floor had a big clean bathroom. And as you went up the stairs you see all the awards the master and his crew had picked up at competitions. The main sitting area on the second floor also had bookshelves stuffed not only with famous tattoo artist sketchbooks but also tattoo magazines circulating in China today, which blew my mind that they even existed. As for the artist himself, Jiang, he spoke Mandarin which I fortunately could as well. He was so professional and efficient! Before starting, he turned on the Spotify which started streaming ambient techno to fit the mood. He spent some time setting up the workstation and printing out the design which he applied to my body several times and hand painted a few finishing touches until we were both satisfied. Then, the needlework itself began. Overall it was not too painful except for a few times near my belly button, and we took a few breaks in between for bathroom and cooling off. The sitting area also offered some fresh water and a variety of snack nuts which is so Chinese. The session in total took almost 5 hours, which is an absolute first for me, but I know painstaking details required it. Toward the end of the session, Master Fu even came up a few times to examine the work in progress and give a few nods of approval! I am super content with the tattoo Jiang gave me. While I wouldn't call myself a crazy tattoo enthusiast I'm so happy to have endured the pain and time to receive this one. And the experience of this journey has been top notch all the way. Hailin is not only the best Chinese tattoo shop I've ever been, it's the best tattoo shop I've ever been, period. read more

I'm not sure about the other artists, but I do not recommend Nicole Inkhart. I was extremely disappointed by the quality of her fine-line tattooing, and she was also very rude to me. I got a touch up on my finger tattoo for free which was nice, but it faded completely after 1 week and the touch up is fading, too. I wouldn't be so harsh if Nicole had not also treated me disrespectfully, disregarded my polite requests for improvement, etc. She didn't even say hello to me when I saw her for a touch up- just pointed at the chair and told me to sit. I paid ~250 dollars for both of these tattoos. All in all, I don't recommend Nicole Inkhart (can not speak for the other artists). Not only is she unkind, her thin line tattooing showed blotchy ink deposit and the lettering was almost juvenile. It wasn't the level of quality I had expected. Nicole wasn't able to interpret my vision even though I showed her plenty of examples, etc. (there was definitely an English language barrier there). People have genuinely asked me if this tattoo was just a scribble of sharpie marker that I did on my own! read more

I stumbled across Hailin Tattoo on Instagram while searching for tattoo artists around LA. What grabbed my attention was their unique work of ink wash styles done by most of their artists there. Considering it was my first tattoo, I was definitely a little nervous and hesitant in committing to getting one but after communicating back and forth with Eric/Zan that manages Hailin Tattoo's Instagram, my nerves were put to ease. Very informative and quick to respond to all of my questions, I was able to narrow down my artist to Gloria and booked an appointment. Just keep in mind that some of these artists are booked for a good period of time. I made my appointment back in May and just got it done today, though as you'll see, it was well worth the wait! It also helps that a free consultation is provided with your artist to discuss any general questions and the direction you want to take your piece. Regardless of a slight language barrier I had with Gloria, she completely understood what I wanted and took it far and above the base design I gave her. I'm extremely pleased and happy with how the final piece turned out and have nothing but praise for Gloria's masterful craftsmanship. The attention to detail is second to none and Zan/Gloria made my first tattoo experience a welcome one. I'm definitely coming back here if I ever decide to go for another, which I most likely will. This review is two years overdue!! After researching different artists, I finally found Gloria on Instagram and knew she was the person I wanted to do my first tattoo. I'll admit it was a little daunting to not see a sketch until the day before my appointment. But I knew I selected Gloria for a reason and put my trust in her. While her first draft was almost perfect, we tweaked the colors a little bit the day of the appointment. I was in Gloria's chair for about 3 hours, taking a little break every hour. She is such a talented artist and I loved watching her work. After the tattoo, she mentioned my skin didn't take to the ink too well and might fade quickly. Great experience here! I found this place on Instagram, and subsequently Brendan's page where I noticed his style was more in line with the tattoo that I wanted. After a few messages back and forth, we were able to arrange a day for me to come in and get my tattoo! Brendan was very affordable, I sent a 20% deposit ahead of time and paid the rest there. FYI, they only accept Venmo, PayPal or Cash. No credit cards. Parking was easy - Just parked at the CVS lot next door. The shop is very clean and comfortable - I was impressed! Brendan took time to make sure that the size and location of the tattoo was exactly what I wanted, and he was very receptive throughout the process if I wanted any adjustments made. I was looking for someone to do a Phoenix on my left shoulder blade. Unfortunately the tattoo artist I had originally wanted didn't want to do it. I found Hailin Tattoo because I noticed their shop when I would go to the Rite Aid next door. I checked out their website and that's when I found Gloria. I really liked her portfolio. Then I saw Yelp reviews talk about how amazing she was, so I was SOLD! I made an appointment with Gloria to talk about what I wanted. She was so sweet and very attentive to my wants. After doing an extensive amount of research, my husband & I chose Hailin Tattoo Studio. It was my first time getting a tattoo & I'm glad I got it here at this shop! Truly fantastic experience & definitely will be back to get another one! Setting up the appointment: I inquired online through their website & was immediately contacted by Zan through email. It was extremely difficult for me to choose an artist at the shop for my sleeve concept as I thought all were super talented! Initially, I inquired about Gloria for an arm sleeve concept, however her availability was booked until next year (6 months later). After, I inquired about Master Hailin's availability & fortunately, he was available sooner! My husband was also trying to schedule with another tattoo artist, Wil, & Zan was extremely helpful & swift with his responses. Zan is the shit!! He managed to coordinate with both Wil & Master Hailin's schedules as we reside 5 hours from LA. Zan booked our sessions on consecutive days. Arriving at the shop (Day 1): The shop is located by Rite Aid (where you can park). We entered through the back of the shop (go through the mini alley(?) towards apartment complex). Upon arriving, I had to fill out some paperwork (COVID related) & check in. After a few moments, I was introduced to Master Hailin. Explaining my tattoo concept & tattoo process (Day 1): Master Hailin doesn't speak English, so Zan eloquently translated my tattoo concept to him while also using picture references I had. Since Master Hailin does not use any stencils, he took around 15 mins (or even less) to create his design for my sleeve. I was aware that Master Hailin does not show you his sketch on paper, but sketches it onto your body part being tattooed. I was not aware at how fast he was designing the sleeve & transposing it from his mind to my arm. Keeping in mind of how much detail Master Hailin puts into his art, I was excited for the final outcome! Master Hailin Fu works extremely fast without compromising quality, as it seemed like he completed about 50% of my 3/4 sleeve in a 4 hour session with breaks in between. In between breaks, I got to know other tattoo artists at the shop whom were very down to earth & fun to talk to! Kris, Zan, & Kaho were especially helpful, welcoming, checked in on me, & were willing to translate if needed between Master Hailin Fu & I. They explained that Master Hailin Fu will most likely complete the sleeve a day earlier than expected. Master Hailin Fu is not only humble, but is a pure genius. He took my Kiyohime Hannya concept & made it even better than I expected. He portrayed his own take of Kiyohime holding a hannya mask without removing the mood & elements I wanted in the sleeve, & made it better. You would imagine the amount of detail seen in his art would take days to complete, however he works swiftly without compromising any quality. This was my first tattoo, so I'm not sure if this would hold any value, but I believe he was gentle with his needle work as the pain was bearable & manageable. I have also seen from other reviews that he isn't heavy handed & my tattoo was not raised in any way (other than normal minor swelling) that would indicate heavy handed work. The other tattoo artists also informed me that Master Hailin's work will not need a touch up in the future due to his style of tattooing. Truly fascinating. He also seemed to genuinely care if I was happy with his art & although he does not speak English well, you don't have to converse with him to see how passionate he is with his art. I love this piece!!! In summation, the experience set the bar for my husband & I for tattoo shops. So much so, that we don't want to veer away from this shop & already plan on saving for our next one!!! read more

Have to start off by saying I absolutely recommend you book your sessions with Kevin if his style is what you're looking for. I was nervous when initially booking with these guys because this is only my second tattoo and a very big piece that I wasn't totally sure of the placement or design. Luckily I made the right decision coming here and working with Kevin. He was super patient with me through multiple design changes and me deciding to change the placement last second!! I must say that the quality of Kevin's work is very rare to find especially for the price and I could not be more happy with my tattoo. Almost 1 week since I got it and it is healing great and looks amazing, I love it more everyday!
