I went in to fix a hair cut with Marlene. Not the first time. She was angry that she wasn't getting paid for this service. She stated several times I could be getting paid right now. I asked her to cut down the top of my hair. What she did after we exchanged words. That she will only touch what needs to be fixed. I'm not getting paid to do anything else. She cut the top down and she took two chunks of hair out of the back of my crown. I got home I was modified!!! I can't cover it up!! It looks awful. My hair is my attitude. No one sat in her chair for about 1/2 hours. I asked her to clean the back of my hair line. She said that's not what you came in for, it will cost you. I've gone to Hair101 a few times and have had nothing but stellar results. For starters, I firmly believe it's Newbury St quality for a fraction of the cost. The hairdressers are always super nice and helpful. Almost every time I've gone in for a color and/or cut, I just say "I trust your opinion" for the shade to color or how much to take off and I've never been disappointed. I drive from out of state to have Mandy at Hair 101 cut and style my hair! I have now been to Hair 101 to see Mandy several times, and I have asked for a different style every single time. I always bring pictures of the haircut that I want from multiple angles and I swear my hair always looks EXACTLY like the pictures after Mandy is done! I am also shocked every time by how inexpensive it it!!! I have very think hair, and Mandy is a perfectionist about making sure every single hair on my head is cut and styled perfectly. She is so calm, friendly, and also meticulous with my hair and so I'm always completely relaxed and able to enjoy my time in the salon. Taylor turned my dirty-blonde and gray roots into beautiful, natural looking summer highlights - I'm really pleased with her work (and I'm usually pretty picky). Further, even though she's only been doing hair a few years (based on our conversation) she made good recommendations about the type of highlights, color selections that I should pick (going forward) and she worked quickly and efficiently so I wasn't sitting there for hours on end. Finally, Taylor talked just enough to be friendly, but not so much as to be overbearing or annoying. I'd go back to her in a heartbeat. As a side note - the chicks who cut hair in this place look like models. Even the lady in the next chair over from me said the same thing. I felt like a slob sitting there in my frumpy "just in case they spill color on me Goodwill clothes" - but it certainly inspired me to go home and put on some real clothes and actually do my makeup properly. I bought a groupon for a color and cut. I met with Devin and she was pleasant but that was about it. She didn't ask me what shade of blonde that I wanted and just colored my hair. It ended up coming out yellow. She also cut my hair and I have thick long hair and I like to get it layered all over and she pretty much gave me a mullet! I thought she understood what I was talking about but apparently not. I did go back to have the yellow toned down, they do not include a toner in with the groupon. It was obvious that I needed one but Devin did not say anything to me. She didn't even show me the back of my hair with a mirror. The salon was dirty and the products looked old and very dusty. I don't think that I will return. Very disappointed. read more

This salon is a pit! I had a Groupon for 5 wash and blow dries and will NEVER be back! It took 40 minutes from start to finish. The stylist never asked how I wanted my hair styled. I asked it to be blown starlight and I got a bizarre flip at the ends that looked like a 1999 hairstyle. He used no styling product to protect my hair. The salon itself was dirty and unimpressive. read more

I made an appointment online for Monday 10/9 5-6 days in advanced. I received a confirmation via email and via text on that day that my appointment was scheduled for 1pm. I arrived early and the salon was closed. I waited in my car until about 1:15 before leaving, the salon was completely dark and clearly no one was there. It was a minor holiday so my guess is it was closed that day. No one tired calling me in the week after scheduling and before my appointment to inform me. Both confirmations stated that is was set for 10/9 at 1pm. not only did I waist my time driving there I waited for about a 1/2 hour. read more

Amanda was my stylist. I did show her the pictures of my previous haircut and told her to keep the length longer than last time. I do notknow what she did but at the end, the length was shorter, ends were sharper , I lost the original shape completely. I don't think I ll go there ever again. Total disappointment. read more
