I'm very disappointed with my recent visit. I asked for a trim and clearly communicated that I wanted to keep most of my length, but Kitty cut my hair much shorter than I requested. I met Kitty when I started at SJS in 1980. She was working at Command Performance in the Sunnyvale Mall. So I've been her customer for 44 years! I have followed her around from workplace to saloons until she turned her garage into her own personal saloon. I have long black/brown hair that at its longest touches the top of my belt. My favorite treatment was a "Boo Peep" perm. A perm that needs 2 rods per strand of hair. I would be at the saloon for hours . No curlers left for anyone else! . Fun and easy to style. I would just twist my hair into a ponytail & pin it up. Kitty became a good friend, like chosen family. We had fun thinking of what to do to my hair. Now that I am older, I have it dyed a pretty brown , medium long. I leave my hair wet and put in styling conditioner and skrunch it until it gets wavey. I would highly recommend Hair Affair. I found this place after trying out many very expensive stylists. Kitty did an amazing job with my haircut. I have heavy hair and I wanted short hair with layers. She spent about 15 minutes calmly talking and going through what I think I wanted and recommended options. I was very happy with my haircut. She also gave me an option to come back in a week and she will do any changes for free. She is a self employed stylists who moved her business to her garage a few years ago which she has converted into a nice salon. She also provided facials which I'm planning to try. Ladies- we all know trusting our hair to just anyone does NOT happen. It took me a while to find the right person but Kitty is AMAZING. I trust her with anything (cut/trim/color/perm) and I have never gone to the same person more than twice- but I've been coming here for 5+ years. I JUST got my ombre done yesterday and I LOVE IT! I sent Kitty a pic of what I wanted (red tips) and she matched my color to the pic... that's rare. She's caring and knowledgeable and will take the time to find out what you want before taking on the scissors. She will also make certain recommendations (ie added more texture to my front layers) but she's definitely not pushy about it. Wonderful threading experience. Kitty really cares about her customers and she puts 150% effort into creating a relaxing environment even though hairs are getting plucked (rapidly) from your face. Seeing this very reviewed one, I call, not really expecting availability on such a short notice. Surprisingly, I get an appointment for 11 AM. Like the other reviews say, Kitty was waiting outside for me. She was super nice, her studio is clean and tidy. She did a great job in about 40 min (as a busy person, I really don't have 2 hours to devote to a hair cut, which is probably why it took me a while to even schedule another one).
