When I was living in Orlando, I went to an amazing salon in Winter Garden (and boy do I miss that place), so when I moved back up to Long Island, I was looking for some place just as amazing. I wish I could say Sorell lives up to the standards of the salon I went to in Florida, but even so, I've been really satisfied with the service and quality from Sorell over the last 10 years or so. Most recently, I've been getting my haircut with Omar. Stylists here never seem to last more than a few years, but I REALLY hope Omar does not leave anytime soon! He's by far the best stylist I've ever had for my hair for several reasons: (1) he is incredibly detail oriented, (2) he genuinely cares about giving you a great haircut, (3) he listens to what you want while also offering smart recommendations, and (4) he's overall a very nice guy (and great conversationalist). Seriously folks, keep Omar as long as you can! Aside from Omar, the rest of the staff here is great. What might throw you off at first is the fact that the receptionists always seem serious/stressed, yet they are usually friendly and always efficient. The lack of smiles might rub you the wrong way at first, but the staff really is helpful and friendly. Everyone keeps this place tidy and efficient. The other thing to keep in mind is that prices can be a bit steep. Personally I try to visit on the weekdays whenever possible. Sorell offers cheaper prices if you can make it for a haircut on a weekday. Weekends might give you some sticker shock (guys, not sure $40 is worth a haircut on a Saturday, even here; I do my best to avoid these hours). Still, the staff has always treated me right and my hair always comes out great (I even get compliments now and then thanks to Omar). A solid 4 stars for Sorell!

I've also booked with other stylists when needed and honestly haven't had a bad experience with anyone there. One thing I really appreciate is the consultation process. I've messaged with my stylist on Instagram beforehand to share inspiration photos and talk through what I'm looking for, including suggestions about what would work best with my hair. Then once I'm in the salon, we go over everything again and make any adjustments before starting. I've never felt rushed or like I wasn't being listened to, and I've never left unhappy with the result. The shampoo and styling experience is always comfortable too. They check that the water temperature is okay, ask if I have any hair concerns, and offer coffee, tea, or water while I'm there. Appointments usually start pretty close to the scheduled time, and on the occasions when they're running behind, I've gotten a call beforehand to let me know, which I really appreciate. The salon itself has a very modern, slightly industrial feel with exposed white pipes, but it still feels warm and welcoming. There's a lot of pop art throughout the space, which gives it a fun, cool personality without feeling overdone. The salon, stations, shampoo area, and bathroom have always been clean and well maintained. Everyone I've interacted with, including the front desk staff, has been friendly and helpful. Booking is easy since you can make appointments online, over the phone, or in person, and depending on the appointment, you can also move it online or call the salon to make changes. I've always felt the pricing was fair for the quality of the service and the results. Parking is usually easy enough, although the lot is shared with quite a few other businesses. Overall, Salon Pop has become my go-to salon. I trust Stephanie and Michelle Nicole with my regular hair appointments, and Moon is usually my pick when I just need a blowout.
