I just received the best haircut in my life. . .and I am 75 years old. I have naturally curly hair and I am always disappointed with cuts and especially when I want to do a smooth style. I described my issues and desires on the phone and he understood me immediately texting me photos of what I was describing. Nico did a "dry" cut after it had been blown out straight and he did an amazing job! i was so pleased with the way it looked and the ease of caring for it (or not) that I did not wash my hair for a week because I did not want to "ruin" the style. when I finally did, I was so surprised at how great it came out with much less work than I anticipated. When I have a haircut, I only want that - a haircut. Instead I had to listen to preaching about God and how wonderful Trump was that he has "great morals" etc. This did affect my cut too - but it was bad. I had to go somewhere else to fix it. Just got my hair cut and colored by Nico on Friday and I have to say, I am SO HAPPY with the results. He has a fantastic eye for color- I got just the shade I wanted and I have received so many compliments. Nico's salon is located in a work/residential suite in the 1600 Vine building. It was very easy to find- I just told the doorman where I was going and he escorted me to the elevator. The salon is very nicely laid out and welcoming. Working with Nico was a total joy- he definitely got what I was talking about in terms of color. I pointed to Florence Welch as my color inspiration so we checked out some images together and he worked out a formula to give me beautiful copper locks. The color is vibrant but still looks natural- not too orange or too brassy. My cut was a pretty simple affair because I'm trying to grow my hair out so I can't really go in for too many layers or losing any length. That said, the cut is very flattering. I loved that Nico listened to me- this is unfortunately a rare quality in hairstylists that I have met before. Nico himself is very warm and charming. He made me look and feel like a rock star during the entire appointment. At the end I purchased some of the shampoo and conditioner that he had used but it was not a pressure sale. The hair products leave my hair feeling so soft and they smell great. I'm so glad to rock the red for the holidays this year. There is a reason he has unanimous 5 Star Reviews! Nico is hands down the best I have ever had. What makes his hair cuts worth it is how long I can go after my cut. Typically, I need to get a haircut ever 6 weeks. I found myself going 3 months when Nico would cut my hair. You pay more going with Nico....but I find that it all balances out due to being able to go twice as long without another cut. Another thing I like is how passionate Nico is about hair and making sure you are 100% satisfied. For the last 11 years, I visited my hairdresser twice a week and Keratin every 3 or 4 months to maintain that "typical" Chinese "tame" long straight hair look. Recently, I started to feel "imprisoned" by my own hair -- couldn't do anything without worrying about having a bad hair day. I so wanted to love this hairstylist after all those raving reviews, but to be honest it was a nightmare!!! I booked my appointment for CUT and COLOR and truly it was a mess. the guy freaked me out, after he panicked while the chemicals of hair color were on my head. he started to wipe the stuff off my hair and after some minutes, he mumbled "that is a freaking nightmare" my hair turned green, the grey did not cover, so he washed it out in huge hectic ...which made me truly nervous....well to spare you the entire nightmare story...I was there for 6 freaking hours, till he fixed the mess...telling me he was not a colorist!!! I told him, you booked me in for CUT and COLOR !!!! he truly wanted to tell me, that all of this is my own fault. my hair looks much too dark and horrible, has all kinds of weird shades. I got an ear infection and a rash on my neck and behind both ears. I have to wait till this is healed and then I can go somewhere else to get this fixed. I am truly upset..and no !!!
