unfortunately I came in for a curly cut because I hadn't gotten one in years. I wanted to trim my ends, get some layers and face framing. I showed some reference photos as well. I was told I only needed a half inch off so that's exactly what I was expecting. At LEAST a few inches were taken off. My hair went to the middle of my back before I came in. my hair now just barely passes my shoulders. I was genuinely in shock when I went home and did my normal routine. I know with curly hair cut there will be shrinkage but this is diabolical. I am so sad and upset because it looks nothing close to what I asked for and it took me years to get it to the length that it was at before. I didn't wanna write this but my hair is fuuuhhh'd up. if you have curly hair maybe think twice before you go or you may end up like me :/ (side note I've cut my own hair many times before so I know what shrinkage from cutting a half inch would look like and it's definitely NOT that) read more

I took my daughter here for a cut yesterday and the stylist butchered it. All she had to do was follow the previous stylist's work. I asked her to give her blunt bangs that blend into her the sides that land right above the eyebrow. She gave her no blending, uneven cut, and they're like 1.5 inch above the brow. It looks terrible and it'll probably take months to undo the damage. I'm really upset. Update: I reached out to the salon manager and she got back to me right away. She offered to try to fix it and is providing me a refund. I'm sad that we're stuck growing out this cut, but I am appreciate that the manager did her best to rectify the situation as much as she could. read more

I want to start by saying the stylist I had was great! She did nothing wrong at all. So after I got my hair cut I wanted to buy some products, at the counter there was a 3 pack of products that was on "sale" $10 off the bundle so I grabbed it. She rang it up and told me it was coming up as $59 and asked around the shop to make sure that was the $10 off sale price. The other lady said yes, she looked at me and I said ok. I knew it would be expensive because it's a salon so once in a great while I will splurge on myself. So I paid and left and when I got home I went to take apart the set, looked at the bottom and there is a sticker that says - ciibu trio $46.00 - interesting as I was charged $59 on "sale"! So I called and spoke to the manager, she informed me that she would have to call her regional manager and get back to me. A few minutes later I get a call and the message says "you can accept the price it is or you can return the product. The products were marked up and that's the sale price $59.00". Please call us back and let us know what you want to do. I called back and said I would like the products just give me the difference in price, she said she cannot do that as they were marked up on sale???? What kind of business practice is that, the lady at the store had the same tag on the bottom of the bottles at the store. They would rather not have the sale than honor the correct price. There was no signs saying the price at the shop just when they dang it up we found out the price. So to say the least I will be returning my products tomorrow. Shame on hair cuttery for having such a bad business practice, they should honor their pricing that is shown not something in the computer that is "marked up on sale" be warned before buying items from there! It is odd but they always have some sort of problem or issue going on. One time they were very understaffed, another time they were closed without notice, and most recently they said their booking software "double booked" my appointment time. I hope they can improve on all of these fronts in the future. read more

Probably not BUT I go where the talent is and this place now has my favorite hair stylist/ hair nerd/ librarian/ therapist. Shanna is stuck with me for life. I've been going to her for 5yrs so when she left her previous salon for HC, I was legitimately sketchy about switching but she gets me, she knows how to manage my expectations and that's hard to find! I just tried this salon out for a haircut. I had been going to another one with "clips" in the name for quite some time. I found this to be closer. What a surprise. I thought I was walking into one of those fast cut places, but it wasn't. I found out that Hair Cuttery is really closer to a salon. I asked about prices for men's cut and found the prices to be very reasonable. The Hair Cuttery turned out to be more "upper scale" but with very reasonable prices. BTW, Kim, the Manager, cut my hair. She was very pleasant, polite, friendly and did a fantastic job. I would highly recommend Hair Cuttery and Kim. read more

I have been looking for a salon that would cut my hair to my liking. I am super picky when it comes to my hair. My hair is long and thick. I have gone to other high end salons, paid way to much and have walked out in tears. Today I went to Hair Cuttery on Ogden in Naperville. Sarah did an amazing job on my hair. Maybe the worst haircut I ever got. I've gone to other locations and was always a good experience. But this was horrible. I said take abt an inch off the top - immediately took over two inches off. The woman who cut my hair was very new - she kept asking the other stylist what to do, the other stylist was annoyed and of no help whatsoever, she had no idea how to even out sidebars. I felt like a guinea pig for someone learning how to cut hair. If Haircuttery let's this woman cut, do they have any standards? Never going back.
