A few things to note here - 1. You do not tip upfront. Your initial payment is only for the base massage rate. You tip after your massage. They have a sign right next to the front desk which basically encourages you to tip more (1 thumbs up - 20% tip, 2 thumbs up - 25% tip, 3 thumbs up - 30% tip). Don't feel pressured because of that sign. It's better if you carry cash for the tip. They prefer it that way because you give the tip directly to your masseuse. 2. The short form you fill out lets you provide information like pressure level, sore points to focus on during the massage and any injuries that the masseuse needs to be aware of. This is very helpful in case there is a language barrier. The front desk lady was really nice and friendly. And I wasn't pressured into tipping a certain amount which is great. I opted for the Swedish massage with back walking. The rate was very reasonable and the massage was well worth the price. You can find all the rates on their website. My masseuse was quite good. I have had back walking experience in the past but this one was a little different (and more intense). My masseuse used her heels and the toes to dig into my back to loosen it before the oil massage. It was maybe 5 - 10 minutes long but there were times when I definitely struggled to breathe. This part was definitely not relaxing but it's on me. I could have asked them to lower the intensity/pressure more but I thought that they were already doing the lowest pressure because I had mentioned it in the form that I filled out. My masseuse engaged me in a few conversations during the massage. I was okay with it but I can see how that can hinder the overall experience for folks who enjoy their massage in a more quiet and peaceful setting. There wasn't any communication barrier so I was able to ask my masseuse to lower the intensity for the oil massage which was great. Their massage tables are heated but you can ask them to turn it off if it gets too hot. Unlike other massage places, this spa didn't have water or tea after the massage was over (or at least I didn't see/get any) but that's fine. Overall it was a good experience.

The masseuse was Chinese speaking so the language barrier was a little bit harder, but the overall massage was pretty good. I appreciated how accommodating the owner was which is why I'm giving it five stars. Overall the cleanliness is above average so I would choose this over the Asian foot spas even though it's a little bit pricier.

As soon as I was out in a room and ready for the massage, the staff made sure I was comfortable and asked if I had any areas I wanted them to focus on, to which I answered my lower back. I liked that they even checked in once they started applying more pressure to make sure it was okay. Overall, I was very satisfied with the experience and as someone who sometimes tenses up during massages because it's too much, was able to a actually relax during my appointment and even dosed off a little. Even afterwards, my body feels great and the lower back pain has definitely improved! Overall, I would recommend coming here and would definitely come back to try their other packages.

She spends a good 7-10 minutes (I think?) on my IT band for each leg. She's great about sensing when to put more or less pressure on tight muscles or knots depending on whether I tense up or show reaction.. I've had many sports massages from other hotel and "brand name" businesses in the bay area at half or double the price. Mood Up Wellness is reasonably priced especially for package deals. In a private room, the massage is a set routine with no room for personalization. With English at a minimum, there is no way to explain to work on troubled areas. Lighting is very dim and music is soft. In the same room, the facial takes place with the same person, I think. It's difficult to tell with the dim lighting. During the facial one of the products they used was very oily and it got into my eyes. Additionally, the mask product was still stuck to the sides of my face and nose. When I arrived home, I had to get a warm towel to try to extract the oil from my eyes and scrub the mask from my face. Whatever they use, it's tenacious as it took some scrubbing to remove. While the massage is a standard non-personalized routine, I would return for the massage as the prices are attractive. However, I am unable to recommend the facial due to the application and products that are used. With cash, there is a small discount.

I've not been known for my look in recent years. I needed to give up my "homeless" look and dropped into Tangles Salon. Oh my gosh! I had no idea just how talented they are at Tangles! I started out with Bri cutting and styling my hair. Now I've always been a wash and wear kinda gal. Bri made me beautiful, and even taught me how to style my hair, gave me tips on curlers and curling irons, products and how to use them. What a difference!! I finally look professional again. Soooo, I decided the bushy eyebrows needed to go, you know the ones that go down to the eyeball.. the ones that prove you are a blond, there's absolutely NO color to them so the disappear, unless the sun hits them and reflects off of them??? Another appointment and voila! I have the most unbelievable, defined, shaped, colored brows ever! They match my hair, they are shaped to compliment my face and eyes, and the "bush look" is GONE! Did I mention, the prices are more than fair, as a matter of fact, they are less than I paid back in the '90s at salons! And I may as well mention, everyone at the salon are wonderful, sweet , kind and most importantly, TALENTED! I was truly pampered at my appointments! They serve you adult beverages, or non-adult beverages as may be your preference. Doesn't matter, no matter your preference everyone gets to be served in a beautiful long stem wine glass! And just so we don't feel out of place, cuz sometimes during the day it may seem strange to be drinking from wine glasses, the stylists even drink their water or juice in a "stem" so we don't feel out of place. Hooray! Isn't it wonderful they make you feel as if you are at a lovely party or dinner? Isn't wonderful to be pampered for a change?!! Hey, Bri, thank you for making me feel beautiful again, and BTW, my man is looking at me in a MUCH different way now! My son even said he hadn't seen me come away from an appointment at a salon for at least 6 years where I looked better after going there. He could understand why I went toward the homeless look.... Today, he kept staring at me saying how beautiful I looked!! How good it felt to see me radiating knowing I looked GREAT!!! I didn't even have to put makeup on... oh yeah!!! As if this isn't enough, I've always been known for my beautiful nails. Mind you, I can't have tips, my nails are too weak and break off leaving bloody stumps. After moving from Arizona, I couldn't find ANYONE willing to do full sculpture nails... so disappointing... and Laura came to my rescue! She does FULL sculpture nails, free form! OMG, it took me 1.5 LONG years to find her! She quickly and expertly fixed my nails right up! I'm a pink & white kinda gal and I tend to break one nail very easily, so she quickly figured out what needed to be done to prevent a break. I haven't had a lifted or broken nail since she put my first set on! I work in an office, on the computer ALL day. I garden at least every other day so my nails are put through the paces! I can't believe Laura has given me such a wonderful gift, I get compliments ALL day on my nails too now! I had her put gels on our brother's caregiver for Christmas. She's had the most beautiful nails, and is only now needing a fill, that's 6 weeks later!!!! Do you know how many times a day a caregiver washes her hands? How many chemicals she encounters on a daily basis keeping her clients homes clean and preparing meals in a clean environment? So Laura has impacted both of our lives, we don't have to hide our hands anymore!!! Thank you, Laura! So... if you are looking for a salon that you can trust the people working with you, have GREAT prices, are friendly, caring and truly want to help you look the best you can, stop in, schedule an appointment, do whatever it takes to get yourself to Tangles! I used the coupon for the hair cut so I can only make appointment with the selected two stylists. Then Jennifer was arranged to do the hair cut for me. (I think there two Jennifers. Maybe she is Jennifer H. I didn't see her picture in the company's website). I used to do my hair cut in Atelier Salon Spa in Santana Row. I had very good experience there and I was very happy with my new hair style. But this time it's such nightmare. The hair cut makes me older and like antique. I even don't think she know how to blow dry. She made curve inward then outward. The temperature was so hot that I feel like I am burned. I felt so frustrated the whole day after I got such ugly hair cut. At night I took a walk outside, then came back I saw myself in the mirror. I decide to make appointment with another hair salon to save myself. This lady isn't professional at all. I still pay her tips for the service she offered. I don't think I get equal quality as a return. As a customer, I was so happy when I walked inside the store. I was expecting to get a new look. But when I walked out the store, I'd rather not cut the hair. This hair cut destroys my holiday mood. read more

I was already laying down so was too slow to stop them. That was the only time something like that happened, and I figured it's similar to if they don't wash or sanitize their hands in between customers (which I think they probably don't do consistently, anyway). I don't think their general practices would be "up to code" but the location is convenient and the pricing is good so they seem to get plenty of business.
