I was looking for a place to get a hair cut! I'm not from this area so I Immediately searched YELP to find the right place; I was reading the reviews and felt comfortable to give them I try! I'm soooo happy I found them; from the time I called and arrived to meet my stylist KIM I was totally happy with my choice. Kim gave me a tour of the salon which was very big with plenty of space; the stylist stations were definitely separated and everyone had mask on. I really love the salon; it's very well laid out and they offered many other services. I was so very happy with my hair cut that my stylist Kim did; she was very professional and took her time. I could tell she was a perfectionist and took pride in her work!! If I lived in St. Mary's County I definitely would return to (Hair it is) and they would be my place for hair care and Kim would be my preferred Stylist. read more

You guys want a review? Well, hair it is. Ha ha. This place is awesome, I finally treated myself to getting some blonde in my hair. This is my second time being here, it's been about 3 years or so since my first experience. I showed up a few minutes late, and they were very understanding since it would be a little while since my stylist was with another customer. I waited about 30-40 minutes, and usually I would get impatient. BUT- I was talked to throughout, I got constant updates, my boyfriend & I were offered coffee and water and I almost fell asleep in the massage chair. I felt like a celebrity honestly so waiting wasn't an issue. The customer service was outstanding. Now onto the hair part, I do wish it wasn't so busy when I came in because I was put into the corner as my stylist did the foiling. I wish she would have communicated with me a little more, but she was very sweet regardless. I loved the outcome of my hair, it's a very light blonde just like I asked for! I was overcharged for a service I didn't get, at the time I thought maybe it cost more and it was a misunderstanding. Before I could even think about it more and give them a call, they gave me a call about it. I think that was awesome and honest. This place has a teeny tiny amount of issues to work on but nonetheless I really do recommend this place to anyone and everyone, it's truly a treasure in St. Marys. read more

Being a regular at another salon in the area, I balked when the told me that a bleach job on short hair would be over $250. A friend then recommended I come here and told me to ask for Crystal. Sure enough, my appointment date came and immediately was greeted by the staff. Crystal and I talked about the bleaching and she made recommendations based on my skin tone. We immediately went to the back and began bleaching my hair. For the 4 hours I was there I was constantly asked if I wanted a drink and kept checking on how the bleach was going. After all was said and done I glanced at the mirror and saw a new me. The best part was when they told me the total: less than $100! Crystal did an amazing job and I may consider making her my stylist from now on. The salon has a good vibe to it and it's clear the stylists are well trained on what they need to do. It's also reasonably priced, and for the service you get, it simply can't be beat. Definitely recommend this place and ask for Crystal. read more

I must say their service is excellent! I was in town for a week and my roots needed help!!! I of course found this salon on Yelp based on reviews and distance from the hotel. I am glad I decided to go here! The service is top notch and their hairstylist knew exactly what I wanted by just observing my current hair color, highlights, and they listen to me on what I wanted, without a picture. Great for hair. But that's about it. I loved what she did to my hair, she fixed a terrible tragedy. That's why I came back to get a wax and my nails done. In those two areas, you can go elsewhere and probably for a better price. The wax job was adequate, Polly even tweeted after, yet she didn't pick nearly any of the stranglers!! I could see them lying down so how could she miss them? Next I got my nails done and Ashley did an amazing job ehh my hair, but nails were caked in and blotchy and I just want them off already. Rude, rude, rude. I called trying to arrange for a gift certificate for a friend in the area. I asked for a particular stylist who had been recommended to me, and was told she was busy. I asked to leave my name and number so she could call me back, and after a minute or so someone come on the line and demanded to know who I was. I gave my name and asked if she could take me number and have the stylist return my call. "No" I was told. "Why not"? "We don't want you". She then hung up on me. I was trying to pay for a makeover for a friend who has been having a rough time lately, but I suppose there are other salons in the area who would be glad to take care of that for me. This is the only hair place I will ever go to. My grandmom started taking me and my brother here when we were little and have only had great experiences. My brother still gets his haircuts here and now my Dad too. In high school I would bring in a picture of some edgy cool style and they always nailed it. Just got my first perm this year and they did an amazing job, I love it. Now me and my grandmom will also get our toes done at the same time. Also have been getting brazillions. Way overpriced for the service you receive. They also charge 15 bucks for getting your bangs trimmed! Most other places around here will trim your bangs for free if you go the haircut there. It's nice inside the salon, and it's the only "spa-ish" place around here since the Island in Solomon's closed. But it has D.C. prices for Southern MD quality! read more

You get what you pay for! I went in for a haircut for the first time in February. It had been 9 months since I had my hair cut because I'm afraid to have people touch my hair and mess it up haha. I must say that as a new guy in the area, I was very impressed with the service given. I showed up as a walk-in (not recommended) and was greeted by a very friendly staff. They gave my hair a shampoo (while sitting in a massaging seat) and after the cutting was done, they rinsed me again to avoid the typical ruining of a styling by having to rush home and shower to clean up the strands of hair. Some people are complaining about the price, but I was only charged $16 for a cut and style with product. I've paid much more for much less and will definitely be returning soon. read more

I love hair it is salon for one reason, Marie de Palma!!!! She is the best waxing lady I have met in my life. Number 1 she is thorough. Number 2 low cost. Number 3 she is so gentle she can make a Brazilian feel like getting a shave. Number 4 she works so fast I'm in and out in 45 minutes. Number 5 she's so darn friendly it's like getting a wax from your best friend even when your a new client. I went yesterday to get my hair cut. I haven't had it done in seven months and I was really nervous about it, but I went anyway. Right when I walked in I was offered something to drink (which was really nice) and I filled out a little sheet of paper then bam I get started. My haircut was a walk in. Krystal ended up doing an amazing job on my hair. She was so nice, professional and chatted with me. I felt relaxed throughout the process and so happy when my hair was finished. It feels so healthy and it looks amazing! The price was even better! I recommend everyone to go here. I will be going again! read more

Don't bother going here is you are looking for customer service. After making an appointment with Nicki, I got lost on the way to the salon. I called and explained I was lost was was given incorrect directions on the phone by Nicki, which made me a few minutes late for the appointment. When I arrived Nicki informed me that she could not cut my hair because "for the money she charges," she would need to consult with me for at least 15 minutes prior to shampooing me. I told her that I did not need a consult or shampoo, just a cut, and she refused to cut my hair. The worst part about it was her condescending manner combined with the smug look on her face. It was very embarrassing, as there were a number of stylists and customers standing nearby and listening to our conversation. Needless to say, after this experience, I won't be back read more

I am not one to write reviews but I have to say that after 5 attempts to talk to the owner on the phone, this may be the only way for her to know what a terrible experience I had. And, my girlfriend at work told me that I was treated unfairly and they need to know. So here it goes: I want to start by saying, the price of service is second to the quality of service. I feel like I am fine with high priced salons AND cheap salons, as long as I get good service. Last week, I was on time for my appointment (that I made, for a root touchup and bang trim, 3 weeks in advance) and I still waited 25 minutes to be seen because my hairdresser had overlapping appointments. I wouldn't have been upset about her running late if she wasn't pulled away from me again. After she applied the color to roots, she was taken away from my appointment to do a manicure. Therefore, someone else washed the color out of my hair. This woman wasn't very friendly, she was sloppy and she was doing 3 other things, so I was in the bowl for about 10 minutes. She at least noticed that my hairdresser missed a spot of hair coloring ....I was already running late and I still needed my bangs trimmed so I declined her offer to stay longer and add more color. Then she asked me if I needed a blow-dry ... I said no... I still needed my bangs trimmed. Well, I never got my bang trim (it was never mentioned and I wanted my missing hairdresser to trim them.... I didn't see her again until I was paying). I have recently given myself a bang trim and I still have a gray patch of hair. The salon did ask me to come back this week but my work schedule did not allow it.... I gave this review 2 stars, only because I really like my hairdresser. read more

Wonderfully amazing A+ service. I walked in yesterday evening, my first time there, and was greeted immediately and taken care of and offered a beverage. I waited less than 10 minutes and was sat down with Nicki. It took all of about 1 minute to relay to her what I needed and she understood perfectly and delivered an outstanding result, quickly, efficiently, and beautifully. Not to mention her personality is great too and honestly all the women there were super sweet. The restroom facility was nice and tidy, clean and well stocked even in the late evening as they were approaching closing time. I was born and raised in Leonardtown and after my stylist left that salon, i walked into Hair It Is hoping for a good change. i work on base so the location was convenient but that's about all that was. I have tried MULTIPLE stylists there, and all seem to always be in a rush to get through the appointment, or run very late on scheduled times. Some don't have a professional appearance but the worst is the gossip and chit-chat during the time i spent there.. no matter who's chair i was sitting in, someone would walk up and mention a situation or another client, and in doing so it caused miscommunication, lack of attention, and not a very peaceful experience. Through this three year period i had one good stylist, DIna. However her pricing kept going up and her availability down. With hesitation i referred my mother, who went to the owner once and swore to never go back. The owner was extremely late, causing my mother to miss an appointment scheduled an hour after her hair. As she explained the owner went right past with out introduction, then spent about ten more minutes in the back. I was embarrassed for even referring her! We have since moved on from Hair It Is and now go back to our salon in leonardtown, where there are true professionals that can retain business! read more
