Kept seeing Hair Jungle on IG and after scrolling, decided to join their waitlist for a haircut the next day. I added myself to the waitlist after midnight and received an automated text, the next morning I received a phone call from the salon to learn more about the haircut type (trim), current hair length, and my availability. I was added to Leslie's schedule for 3:30pm that day. The person on the phone was warm and enthusiastic. I also appreciated all the text updates leading up to the appointment. Closer to the appointment time, I received a text link to check in. Upon arrival, I was greeted right away and taken to the waiting area which was stocked with SO many drinks and snacks! Prob the most and nicest setup I've seen for snack/drink offerings at salon. They make their own cold brew, have a large selection of teas, nespresso pods, milks, syrups, and bubbly drinks! Seriously such a cute setup. The salon itself is very clean and modern with a lot of natural lighting. Leslie was super sweet and I liked my haircut! My appointment wasn't too long but I didn't feel rushed at all. I went in on a Saturday and did not have issues with parking however I can see parking being a little tricky if you book during the week, so be sure to plan ahead just in case. I'm giving this 2 stars because the staff is very nice and it's a beautiful salon, but I'm just really disappointed with my hair experience here. I came in with multiple reference photos for what I thought was a pretty straightforward style: layers, curtain bangs, and a blowout, with about 3 inches taken off my base length. Instead, I essentially left with 3 inches taken off and a few layers in the front that didn't translate into the back. I was also disappointed to find that their version of a blowout was simply blow drying and curling the hair, which was not what I was expecting based on my photos. More than anything, I wish they had just been upfront and told me they weren't comfortable doing this particular haircut. When I showed the stylist my photos, they gave me several reasons why certain techniques or the style itself wouldn't work for my hair. I would have much rather known upfront that they weren't comfortable executing the look and waited to see my regular stylist. I also should have asked to see some of their previous haircut work beforehand as none of their work is similar to the photos I included here. I really tried to be understanding throughout the appointment, but unfortunately, I left with a basic haircut that wasn't what I asked for and a result I'm still dealing with weeks later. I got service-matched with Leslie through their website and she's a pro!! She's so friendly and she listened to what I wanted and delivered EXACTLY what I was envisioning: long layers with long face-framing pieces. Leslie's laidback but professional demeanor made the whole experience even better. If you're looking for a sophisticated yet effortless cut, Leslie is the one for you!! With a keratin treatment and toner (plus having long hair), pricing is definitely on the higher end but it is WORTH it. I've had my hair cut by Aaron twice now (technically 3 times) and he is hands down the most meticulous stylist I've come across in 4 decades of having my hairs cut. I have naturally curly hair and have always been told that it's hard to cut my hair but he knew exactly what to do. He tries to deeply understand what you're looking for and then proceeds to cut your hair with so much attention to detail as if he was sculpting a statue for the gods but in like a super calm and chill way. I mean, the man cuts his own hair and the feathering in the back of his head shows how skilled he is! I don't want to recommend him bc his calendar is already hard enough to get on but man he's really good and deserves all the best. Good energy, good vibes. He's the best and I'm happy I found him. I want to preface this... the girls are so nice. The vibe is cute. Literally so easy to get an appointment. This is all about pricing and my hair. I guess I misspoke and said I wanted a blow out, which I've gotten many blow outs before, and it's never cost this much or been this disappointing. It was $60 for blow out. $75 for long hair. EXTRA $15 to CURL MY HAIR USING HOT TOOLS? Okay. I don't mind paying for quality. I tipped her 20% because she was nice but I fcking hate my hair. I even showed her EXACTLY what I wanted. My hair looked better going into the appointment than leaving it. Seriously. I travel OUT OF STATE & tip well for my hair stylists. Finding a good hair stylist is hard. And doing a good job? Yeah I appreciate a really good job. And will pay for it. But this? No volume. No life. Special occasion for my sister's birthday ruined. I had to recurl it myself. I'm never coming back here. I'm already signing membership with another place that includes curls for their blow outs. And they offer champagne & wine with service. I'm so beyond upset. The good thing about it is booking it. The front desk person was so nice and my hairstylist was actually really really nice and I hate that I'm leaving this Review, but I just need to warn others that I had a less than stellar experience with the outcome of my hair and the actual price I have a few friends who are cosmetologist and do hair, and when I told them and showed them what my hair was, and how much I paid and tipping on top of that 20%, they were flabbergasted. It was extra to curl my hair. I understand that the appointment was for root touch up and you were supposed to MATCH the roots to the rest of the hair. She never asked for you to color her whole hair. The problem was that when she returned to you to match the color, you were very unprofessional and told her that you won't do anything to fix the problem. This is a gem of a salon in Lake Forest. I no longer have to venture out to Newport for amazing hair. I saw Aaron on a Tuesday for bayalage and he took a look at one photo perfectly matched the tone and styling. He took extra care to maintain the integrity of my hair which is naturally very curly and damaged from previous coloring. It's been the best salon experience I've had in the past five years. From overall attention to detail, careful listening, gorgeous interior styling, friendly staff and star expertise, it was a five star experience. I ended up coming back today for a Brazilian blowout. A simple "we apologize that our stylist is not experienced with low or highlights " would have been great but if shifting the blame back on me as a client makes you feel better go for it. Horrible! Spent literally three hours for low lights. I expressed to her that I wanted to keep the blonde in my hair that was on the ends of my hair...... This was the turnout.
