My hair is very light blonde and some grey so I was nervous cuz my stylist I have been using is now charging $200 for roots only so I can no longer afford him. Instead, they'll reschedule you with someone else. And the last time I rolled with it? The girl I got flat ironed my bangs THEN proceeded to cut them!! I gasped and I was ruined! The only way to ensure your appointment will go well at this spot is: 1. You have your person AND have their phone number to text in case they call out the day before. 2. You get a great scalp and neck massage during the thorough shampoo and conditioner session. She listens to what you want, makes suggestions and then it's quick and efficient and done correct. Women's haircut for long length was $30 Kids are $20 (?) I think. Note, if you are asked if you want it styled and you say yes they will charge you for it. One time, my daughter was in the chair without me by her side and they asked her and she said yes and her cut (& style) ended up being $37! I barely had enough cash to tip on top of that. read more

Not so Nice Hair Salon I came here off and on for several years. I used to see some hair stylists here but they all left. Just came back from a long trip so I was tired and didn't want to drive far to my other salon so I called here. As always, the owner, Cece, was so rude, loud, unkind. obnoxious, and condescending. She literally has no customer service skills at all as a business owner. She basically told the assigned hairdresser what to do and what color to use for the touch up of my hair roots. She also told Hannah, the hairdresser, to do my entire head and not just roots touch up as I had asked for originally. Hannah told me she's my boss so I have to listen to her. Say what? I never heard of such thing? You're a hairdresser, aren't supposed to know how to do the coloring? And do what a customer requested? And not what the owner wants you to do? Long story short, after they finished the job, my hair (medium golden brown with some gray roots) became jet black! Unbelievable. They literally ruined my hair!!! Hannah was paranoid seeing how black it became. Her comments were, well, I didn't realize how dark it would turn out. If you get your hair perm, it will lighten up. Really? Are you freaking kidding me? I would not recommend this place. Don't come here. Especially with Cece's attitude and demeanor. And they don't even know what they are doing. read more

I only get a haircut when my hair starts annoying me. I am writing to give honorable mention to Helen. Her haircut was the most calm and serene experience. I have a sensitive scalp so her gentle approach was most appreciated. She waited until the shampoo water was the perfect temperature before shampooing and rinsing. I have been taking my boys here for years now. Honestly, you just can't be your prices, probably anywhere in the country. Ha! Just remember two things: make an appointment in cash only! We get better quality cuts here for $28 versus anywhere around in Laguna in Niguel for $50. And all of their stylist are very sweet people. My daughter just got a haircut from a salon on jerronimo and los alisos, near snow to go. It was awful. Her hair looked looked like it had been cut by her little sister, a 6 year old. Very choppy, uneven, and seriously worst cut ever. We walked in to Nice hair salon not expecting too much from a $15 fix it haircut, (but hoping the reviews on Yelp were true), and my daughter walked out with beautiful long layered hair again. We had to wait a bit because they are very busy (with the prices they charge, it makes sense though) The lady was attentive to my daughter's request to not cut so short (imagine how traumatized she already was). What's even more valuable is that a simple trim takes just 30 minutes. No upselling--perfect for those who prefer efficiency without unnecessary conversation. Comparatively, "Tonys" in Irvine are overly money-thirsty, charged way too high! They charged like $300-400 for a perm, which seems absurd when a surgery after Kaiser insurance is only $150 in the same year. Some were even greedier, charging separately for pre-cutting before perming and complaining about tips. The constant upselling created a lot of pressure, and there were reports of credit card fraud among them, so I stopped going to Irvine . This salon is an excellent replacement! read more

Quick and so cheap! I needed a haircut SO bad. It had been like a year since I'd gotten one so you can only imagine how long it was: damaged ends and old, discolored summer layers - I'm low maintenance and I was busy okay?! So anyway, my sister told me about this spot once because it's in our hometown - she is also low maintenance with a similar hair cut so in my desperation. I went for it! I called this little shop because it's the day before New Year's Eve and I didn't want to start the new year with the same old hair so I called at about noon without a preference on stylist they quickly said they could take me at 1:30 - so awesome. They said they have seven open stylists, can take walkins and if I don't have a preference everyone could give me the long layered haircut I want it. They were right. I walked in at about 1:25 and Bonnie greeted me, took me to her chair and we got started. She was nice and Got right to work on did my crazy long hair: combed it out, went to wash it for me but there were three other people in line so we would've been fourth. Honestly? It was NYE and I didn't want to wait so she just sprayed my hair down with water and cut it wet then she blowdried it so that she could see it dry and then continue to trim just in case. She made a few more snips and then I was on my way. $18 was my total... crazy right? I didn't get a shampoo but honestly it maybe took 18 minutes to cut my hair as well so I think that's a pretty awesome deal! I gave her 23 and wished her a happy new year! On top of this amazing deal they also gave me a Christmas gift with their business card on it - how sweet is that? Honestly you don't get that kind of love from the big chains - you maybe get a little more chat but I got my haircut and I got to take away gift on top of that! I love supporting local small businesses so if I continue on this low maintenance, long layer look, I'll probably be back. It was packed with people of all ages and I'm sure if I had kids or frequent hair habits (like guys who need their hair cut every 2wks) - totally recommend this spot! Nice hair salon is my go to place for hair cuts in the OC. Everyone there is really friendly and they listen to you and give you exactly what you ask for. You can call in to make an appointment or just walk in. They are busy most of the time, though, so I recommend an appointment. All of the ladies there do a really great job, so I just go in and have my hair cut with anyone. I've also gotten my hair bleached and colored here before and it turned out great. It's in Aspen Plaza (exit Lake Forest when on the I-5 , and there's plenty of parking in the lot. The best part is that this place is super affordable! The price can't be beat! Good for straight trims or kids. Make appt or if you're cool with getting a different stylist every single time, just walk in. 2/5 prices: Shady prices & changing. The manager quoted me today for a simple straightening with a flat iron for short hair at $18. My hair falls just past my shoulders, short by all stylist standards. That's right, no shampoo, no cut, nothing, just a simple straightening with a flat iron= $18. Which is way off since a wash/cut /and style runs about the same $20. Normally a flat iron runs about $5 on top of a normal haircut. It's definitely fishy business when the prices start getting inflated. The whole reason I've been going in going here is because of straightforward, base prices affordable. I inquired with the manager why and showed her the price listing and she began talking in circles & couldn't explain how pricing works. read more

So cheap for a good haircut. I've been coming here for a couple years now and have referred multiple friends. My favorite hair stylist is Linh! She is the sweetest and listens to your needs. I cut off 8 inches last time and she was giving suggestions on how I might like it. Back when I first came here to color my hair I got a different hairdresser and told her the color I wanted. She said she couldn't do it without bleaching my hair. I guess Linh overheard and said she could do it so I let her and it was exactly what I wanted. I kept going to her for touch ups and bang cuts.
