I don't normally leave reviews but I had to this time. Bastian is amazing. Very polite and incredibly skilled. I showed him one reference photo and he asked me what I liked about the hair being shown in the photo so he can get a better understanding of what I liked. Which he gave me exactly what I wanted and more. He also asked me about previous hair experiences at other salons -- what I liked/didnt like about those experiences. I really hope Bastian never decides to move some place with a cold climate or bad Mexican food, because I'd have to pack my bags and follow him there. I first found him after another place completely botched it and no one else has touched my hair in years. Bastian is an artist. I have thick straight hair. It shows every snip of the scissors and no one else has taken the time necessary to really blend my layers and and make it move the way want. I came in most recently about 1 week ago. Shortest we've gone, I think. This one took some planning. I asked for the feel of a longer a-line "without losing too much in the back" (-_- I know..) but Bastian made it happen. I think I'm going to take the plunge into true a-line territory next time! Bastian takes the time to understand, not only your vision for your look, but your actual hair! I bought a groupon but would definitely come back without one. I came with damaged hair, really unhappy with how the other salon dyed it. Although he could've serviced me, rather than talking negatively about the service I got or try and put some extra dimes in his pocket, he was really nice and gave advice on how I might want to go about repairing my hair and fixing the color, and suggested I try to talk to the salon to fix it since I had already paid for the service with them. He gave me a great cut, getting rid of all the dry ends and seems very experienced. On top of that, he texted just to let me know his other client's appointment was going to take longer than he had expected so that I wasn't just sitting around and waiting. Finally made sometime to write a review... I been going to Bastian for years not sure how long but since his salon was back in Cerritos/Artesia had a color and cuts and all those times I am very satisfied as he is very good on his profession he gave suggestions on what could look good for you. I highly recommend him to anyone also his price is reasonable and fair. If you decided to get his service make sure to plan ahead atleast one month as he is always fully booked. I drove an hour to come to this place due to a recommendation from a friend. I am super hesitant when it comes to haircuts because I have thick, coarse, curly hair and many hair stylists have butchered it in the past. Bastian was incredible. When you make an appointment online, they are segmented into hour-long timeslots. However, Sebastian was patient and attentive and didn't rush my appointment at all!! At the end, he used a diffuser to dry my hair and enhanced the natural texture SO much--the curls on my head were so lively I couldn't believe it!! I seriously wanted to cry bc I have such mixed opinions about my curly hair and most stylists just straighten it. It was 100% worth the drive and I can't wait for my next cut. read more

I have always been very picky about hair stylist from eyebrows down to my southern region. And I have fired many! most are just hype when it comes to the degree of skill/craft they put out there, believe you me and I've been burned a plenty! But finally Bastian...oh Bastian, god sent from the hair gods!....nails it EVERY. SINGLE. TIME!! One word....YUKO! He is the sensei of all sensei of this technique! He literally taught other stylists so anyone who claims they're an expert, They learned from THE Godfather himself and even then , less than a handful can pull it off and usually comes out mediocre. It's not just a skill, the knowledge, the detail, the time spent, delicate balance, the entire broadway production that goes behind it, It's a masterpiece! This is a small place, inside the Sola suites, but both stylists have a great work ethic, are nice, and do their best to take care of their clients. I've been going to Bastian exclusively for the past 7+ years and he is the real deal. Even when I moved away from SoCal for a while, I would see him whenever I flew back down here. One of my favorite things about Bastian is that, not only is he very well educated in all aspects of his craft through decades of experience (techniques, chemistry, everything!), he continues to keep learning by going to seminars and staying up to date on new products. He is truly passionate about the work he does and it really shows in his high quality services. I initially came in with fried, thinning hair, and with his help, have fixed the quality of my hair and have even gone from dark brown Indian hair to having light blonde balayage for the past few years, while keeping my hair healthy and long! He really listens to what you want during the consultation and if there's a color you really want, he'll make sure it's done in a way that keeps the integrity of your hair. Plus, he never pushes you to buy any products during your service (like some stylists I've been to). I am so grateful to have a stylist that I can depend on to give me the look I want and know that I will have his full attention and focus whenever I come in.
