Yuri is always so friendly, professional and knows exactly what would look best on me and my hair texture. She's great at layered cuts and gives an amazing blow dry. I've gotten my bf to become a client too, she's also amazing at men's haircuts. I never get any split ends and it always grows out well. I always walk out with lighter and healthier looking hair! Environment is spacious and calming, there's a lot of greenery in the front. It always smells so good here because they use Aveda products. Smells like a spa. They are so energetic loud and friendly to Korean fluent people that look rich and they just rush my hair with zero communication, it looked like crap at the end but I still tipped well (30%) because I was raised right. Over $50 bucks with tip for a haircut that looks like I did it at home. You can get a haircut with tip for $15 in flushing Main Street that looks way better and they are friendlier. I really like the fact they only work on one person at a time. I chose my stylist based on the fact she had blondes on her profile, especially because she was not a new stylist. After tip it was over $300 and that is fine if my hair was blonde. When I was leaving, I had to say yeah it looked great. What else are you supposed to say it's not blonde like I wanted, on top of the fact, she said underneath needs more work. She was yawning and knew she was exhausted. I wanted see-through bangs and thought it'd be okay for me to go to any salon with decent reviews. Boy, was I wrong... I was quickly escorted to a seat and had my cut done by Summer. When I go to my usual stylist, she washes my hair for me even if its just for bangs. I thought it was the same at Mint but they charge extra for washing your hair. I told her I hadn't washed my hair last night but she said it was fine and that they have to charge extra for that. It would have been nice if she'd asked if I wanted to get a wash even if it was extra instead of acting like she couldn't be bothered for it. She began cutting and midway I knew the cut wasn't coming out right. She not once compared the length of my hair from the left and right side, she was taking too much hair from one side, it looked heavy on one side. After she cut one part, she made a face as if she'd made a mistake. She styled my bangs and it looked decent. After inspecting the cut after I left the salon, it was blatantly uneven (photos attached). I called the same day and said I would go back to get it fixed. I went back two days later and asked for the manager. She wasn't there but Summer said she would try to fix it. I asked her to make the sides even. After snipping a few parts away, she was done. I looked at it again and it looked the same. I told her to even it out and she said I should leave it because it would look too heavy if I evened it out. She said she must have cut it unevenly because my hair hadn't been washed that day and instead she'd simply wet pieces of my hair to make bangs. She whispered an apology to me for cutting the big chunk off on the side but said to leave it the way it was. It was clearly unsalvageable. I hate writing bad reviews or saying anything negative about people who work really hard at their jobs, but I was extremely disappointed after my experience with this salon. I asked for a Balayage ombré and paid 260 dollars and ended up coming out with the same color I walked in with. The stylist made it seem like my hair would lighten up maybe not to the color I wanted but would go few shades lighter. My hair legit looked exactly the same when I walked in and walked out. Completely waste of almost 300 dollars. I called back extremely disappointed and was told if I paid 150 dollars they would bleach my hair and fix it for me. As if giving them 260 for a color I didn't ask for wasn't enough. Great reviews at a new hair salon on Northern! Must try. I came in on a weekday afternoon, which is a very great time to show up without an appointment. The whole place looks fresh and and wooden, more like a fresh local restaurant than a hair salon. The waiting area is actually a wooden table with wooden chairs around it (not comfy for lounging seating, but great for eating!) Lockers were available for my items. I was quickly whisked away to the washing area, and the seats were cool and modern (slidey!). My shampoo were minty (heheh, mint). I like the display case in the washing area with the glass jars and whatnot; it feels so... organic. My hairstylist was Melissa. Came here for a haircut and silk digital perm with Nikki. She's absolutely wonderful! I love how friendly and attentive she is. She's also a very skilled stylist. The whole process took 5 hours. To give you a bit background my hair is very straight and thin so she knew that it may be hard for my hair to stay curly and have the best results for the perm. After the 5 hours she said she wanted me to wait a bit and then after I wash my hair to see the results. A few days later she proactively texted me to check in and see how things are with my hair. If it's not curly enough she wanted me to come back to make it even better. So fast forward I did go back and she personally went in on a day that she's off to fix my hair because she knew that I was leaving to go back to LA. The results were even more amazing! Really, really upset with my visit. I wish I had listened to the other reviews on here which basically warned you will not ever achieve the color you want. Not even close. Here is my version. I made an appointment for 2PM yesterday for highlights which I moved to 2:30. Arrived on time and wasn't seated in a salon chair until 3:30. I have dark brown hair with light colored balayage pieces. I requested golden caramel highlights. When I requested the prices of same, the colorist stated prices which were double the prices reflected on the website. For example, half a head of highlights is said to start at $120. This price does not include toning, which is an additional $120. This brought the price of my half a head of highlights to a minimum of $240. Colorist advises this also does not include $30 Olaplex. Moving forward, I agree to half a head at $240 (manhattan prices), and we start bleaching my hair. Pieces of my hair start falling off and I'm disappointed but whatever, I'm bleaching, getting highlights, so should be worth it. Once the bleaching process is finished, I notice a lot of blonde and white pieces in my hair. Colorist proceeds to apply super dark toner to my hair and left it on for 45 minutes to cut another customers hair. Once the toner was rinsed off, I ended up with the EXACT same hair color I walked in with, except maybe slightly darker. I'm appalled at this point. She tries to tell me it's lighter in color. I politely ask her to be honest with herself and ask if she truly believes that the color is indeed lighter. She doesn't answer but instead offers me a discount, offering me the price of having my roots done, at $120. This is the price of half a head of highlights as reflected on their website, but after having been there for 4 hours, I just want to leave. I tip her $40 because I'm generous and dip out. I just want it to be known that this colorist was hardly apologetic and not putting in any effort to FIX my hair. She stated this is the best she could do and that's that. I'm so disappointed in my experience and wish I had listened to the other reviews and never came here. I paid $165 for my hair to look exactly the same color, plus the horrible damage to my hair. This is a beautifully decorated salon, one of the prettiest I've ever been to. I would recommend that you call to make an appointment; I made one through Yelp (I contacted them two days before I wanted to go), but it took a while to get a response. He never responded to confirm the appointment even the day before so I called the salon directly and spoke with a woman who confirmed it, but when I got there the next morning, they didn't have my appointment on the book. Luckily, one of the ladies was free and I was able to do my hair as planned. I had a thorough consultation with my stylist before we started. I had dyed my hair previously and now wanted to cut and perm it and she was very honest about the risks of damage to it. FYI: if you plan to perm and dye your hair, do it in that order. (Not the way I had it.) Luckily, it's been a few weeks and my hair is fine; she said she took extra care to make sure that no damage would come to it. The place is pretty pricey. My stylist said that normally if you perm, the price of the cut is included but because I was cutting so much of it (about 8-9 inches), she would have to charge me for it. I've never heard of that practice before but then again, I've never cut that much of my hair before so... The whole process was over $300. I don't get my hair done often (I'm usually a trim and thin out kinda girl, once or twice a year), but my mom and sister who gets their hair done regularly was fairly surprised and recommended that I go to their salon instead next time. But overall, I had a pleasant experience here and I'm glad that my hair isn't falling out from over processing it! read more

I've been coming here a handful of times and it's been my favorite hair salon this year. There's a parking garage on the side but if you decide to park in the front of the building that works too. Female cuts are a flat $40 for short to medium/long. Service is impeccable and the cuts always exceed my expectations. They never keep you waiting long for your appointments and the girl who washes your hair gives the best head massage (don't forget to tip her!) They also end every wash with Oxplex which is a nice touch to treat damaged and treated hair. I had some dry ends that I was trying to cut off from my previous disaster hair salon visit (not Mint Salon). The hair stylist recommended a deep conditioning on my next visit but she did such a good job trimming the dry and damaged hair that now I don't need that deep conditioning. I just stick with my Cocoa Tree Detangling Ghee and that little tub works magic after every wash (it's at sephora.com, they don't have it at the stores for some strange reason). Sorry I digress. I came in for a free consultation inquiring about balayage. I had done some research on pricing prior to my consultation so the price was as expected, reasonable, and even cheaper than most salons given the work being done and the length of my hair. I showed my hair stylist, Sunny, some example pictures of the coloring I wanted to do and luckily, they were able to take me in right then and there. before beginning, she told me that the expected time for the whole process might take about 4-5 hours (yikes) but it actually only ended up taking 3 hours which was a huuge relief for both of us. I just want to compliment the staff that helped me today to make my first professional coloring treatment experience a lovely one! Eunice, the receptionist, was warm, welcoming, and helpful from situating me on my arrival (even though I was late) until I left. Sunny, my hair stylist, was friendly, helpful, speedy, and meticulous. She worked hard to ensure that what I was envisioning would be achieved. I am SO pleased with the results!! Even Maria, who helped wash my hair, was really sweet and careful when washing my hair. I have already gotten so many compliments on my new hairstyle and I'll be glad to tell everyone where I got it done and my experience :) Also, the salon has a hospitable atmosphere -- they offer you water, lemonade, coffee during your stay. Thought that was very thoughtful. The interior decorations are also very calming and relaxing. I absolutely loved this place ! The atmosphere is soothing with a nice organic decor of wood and plants and earth tones. They make you feel so comfy as soon as you walk in providing you with a pillow to prop up your arms while using your cell phone or reading, your own table to rest your stuff on and great beverages (recommend the mint tea ). The sinks are the most comfortable I've experienced. I always dreaded those hard neck tests but those are not here .. cushioned and ergonomically designed for comfort. Erica was my cut and color lady. She spend a good time going over what I wanted in a professional way. All the workers , in fact , are easy going and professional. She did all I'd consider the right way of balayaging and cutting hair. She spend time doing both and did a prelim cut before the color. The products are Aveda so that makes this place a bit pricey but still doable. Aveda products are one of the top in the industry so you get what you pay for! And she showed the Olaplex being mixed into the bleach. Which assured me that I was getting that stuff. The color and cut came out great! My pics don't do justice bc of the lighting but also I don't enhance my pics or use filters. FYI. My hair is naturally 50% grey (I'm in my mid 40s dammit!) This review is long overdue because I'm writing about my visit from back in September, but it's taken me a while to get over my bad experience to try to write this review from a more objective perspective. First of all, this is a disclaimer that I'm only commenting on my perm experience, not on coloring which I know Mint is known for. This may have been where I erred in the first place, as I was referred to this salon by a friend who only got highlights done and had spoken highly of this place. I made my reservation through Yelp to see Nicki, who was highly recommended based on many reviews. As my day-to-day routine is very rushed, my main goal was trendy, low maintenance hair, and my original plan was to get a straight perm and then a light brown balayage. After discussing with Nicki, she brought up the concern of causing hair damage with too many chemical treatments in one sitting, which was a good point. We agreed on perming my hair first, and then coming back on another weekend for the coloring. While setting up for the straight perm, Nicki suggested I add on digital perm for just the ends of my hair, for a more "natural" look that's in style these days. I trusted her opinion and opted in for the combination package. The salon itself is super cute and comfortable enough to sit through an entire afternoon, which was good because the perm took almost five hours. Nicki and her assistant would come to check in on me every once in a while, but they were often pulled in so many different directions with other customers that I at times felt forgotten. After I was taken for my last wash and saw my hair dried out, I was devastated by the final result: my otherwise straight hair ended in a frizzy, curly mess that didn't look natural at all. I think Nicki saw my reaction and tried to trim my hair to lessen the effect, but the damage was done. Instead of the sleek, low-maintenance hair I wanted with a straight perm, I would have to blow dry my hair after every wash to tame it into a natural shape. For the entire job to cost about $450 just made it that much worse. More than two months later, I'm still adding extra time to my morning routine to blow out the ends of my hair. It's a shame but I won't be coming back for the balayage like originally planned. read more

OMG! I almost had a heart attack when I learnt Melissa was no long in Infore. Thanks to Yelp review, I found her here. I quickly placed a call to find out if that's her and they confirmed it was. I have been following Melissa from Cinderella, Hair JJ, Infore to now Hair Salon Mint. If you want the best hair straightening, you need to go to her and she would recommend to do it with Keratin as well but you better listen to her, especially the bang, nobody can do better than she does. I am so grateful to find her again and I can enjoy my summer with my beautiful hair. BTW she is off Monday and Tuesday (for now) but she works from 10AM to 8PM on Wednesday to Sunday. I know it sounds like advertisement or a friend's endorsement but I can truly say she is good. She speaks very little English and she is actually stern if you don't take care of your hair correctly, such as using boxed hair coloring. After getting a few haircuts and colors, I knew I trusted her fully to do a perm. My hair is super difficult to work with (as my previous hair stylists have told me lol) but Summer was very patient and took extra care of my damaged hair. I wanted to get magic perm just on my roots because of my natural curly hair. I'm so happy with the way it turned out! My hair looks so much healthier and smooth. It saved me time getting ready in the morning because now I don't have to spend 15 mins straightening my hair. It was a long process but thanks to Summer, it was so worth it. I could tell she wasnt used to getting a request like this, but she still did it well, and charged me a very reasonable price!
