Okay, so due to various things (mainly arm in a cast for months), my already super prone to tangling hair was a nightmare. Nightmare like I tried to detangle it myself and ended up breaking off . . . a lot. I was pretty much resigned to getting a pixie cut and hoping it grew quickly (see before & after shots!). But Katie is a miracle-working goddess who prescribed keratin treatment to tame my super damaged hair and then cut it so skillfully that you would never guess that it was an emergency solution vs. a gorgeous cut. I didn't know anything about Hair Tech, chose them from reviews and oh my golly goodness--the cut and treatment are more than I could ever have hoped for, but also Katie has such creativity and. positive energy, it was like I didn't even have to tell her what I wanted, she just got me. Run, don't walk but in the OPOSITE DIRECTION OF HER SALON!!! I really don't understand how this stylist has so many positive reviews. I wish I had read the negative ones first, because my experience was very similar to the one-star reviews I've now seen. I felt completely disregarded throughout the entire service. I showed her pictures of the ashy blonde I hoped to achieve, but instead, I left with an orange-toned result that was nothing like what I had envisioned. I also specifically told her I didn't want layers, yet she gave me layers that are uneven and don't look good at all. What was even more unsettling was her super odd behavior. It was just really hard to sit through a two-hour session feeling very awkward and uncomfortable. The whole vibe of the appointment left me feeling very uneasy. What really struck me as unprofessional was overhearing her at the door, asking customers to leave good reviews on Yelp and Google. I really regret not walking out when I had the chance. I won't be returning, and I strongly recommend doing more research before booking with her. I do not leave many reviews, but I just had to for this service. My hair was sort of a dried out, frizzy triangle in a reddish (supposed to be dark blond) hue. Katie assured me it wouldn't take too long (it was about two hours - not too bad). She did a dry cut for the curls, highlights, keratin, a cut, and a blow dry/style (something I never take the time to do). I loved the straight hair. Katie is an energetic, positive, and welcoming individual. She can cut curly hair ok. Unfortunately, the positive ends there. When I arrived she didn't seem to be expecting me. She thought I was there for a cut, and I said I had an appointment for a balayage and color. She then retorted that she knew that. I asked for a cool brown balayage, and indicated I knew that was hard as it is difficult to get the red out of base black hair. I thought she understood, but she focused on getting the red l out and the color was all wrong. I stopped her before she finished up my look, and asked if she could add brown or tone it since it was nearly blonde. Needless to say that the color is still off. See photos.
