The excessive use of cumin powder was a major issue. IYKYK--some restaurants overuse cumin in an attempt to make the food taste and smell more flavorful, but too much of it actually takes away from the distinct flavor each dish is supposed to have. I also would not recommend ordering any of the spinach dishes; they were extremely bland and lacked any noticeable spice or seasoning. Unfortunately, we were so disappointed with the food that we didn't even box up our leftovers--we simply left everything there. Despite that, we were still charged full price, and there was no real attempt to address our concerns or make the experience better. Overall, very disappointing. read more

I have ordered takeout several times and food is favorful and tasty. I love their boneless grilled chicken tikka, and veggie and vegan curries. Their vegan Tika masala is one of the best I've had. It's creamy without any diary. Qorma is a distinct dish different from the rest but can be bit oily. Rice pudding is delicious. Their saffron chai is my favorite and I sometimes do a takeout just for that. Service is courteous but can be a bit slow during dine in on busy days. read more

They do not bring the sauces out till we were done but the kebabs have a great taste and did not need the sauces. The chicken biryani has a nice taste but beware of the garam masala. It's hot. So if you have sensitivities be careful. Did the nihari which also has a lot of garam masala but not as traditional like Karachi nihari. Did the keer for dessert which was nice. Came here looking to try a new place. On a Friday night this place was practically dead...not a good sign. The servers were attentive and took our order when we were ready. The place was quit, no music and blank tv screen. We ordered the tandoori chicken expecting a quarter piece have been told it would take 20-25 mins. However, they were separate legs and thighs on bone. It didn't taste like any tandoori chicken I ever had, not to mention it was the driest legs and thighs I've ever eaten at a restaurant. We didn't finish them, nor did we finish the chicken tikka masala. The chicken without the sauce had a very lemon forward taste, the wasn't the best either. The chicken biryani was good. The chicken was soft and easy to split with a fork. The rice had good flavor with spices and crisp onions. The garlic naan was really good. Generous amounts of garlic spread across the naan. It was the only thing we finished. Even with all the high ratings given to this place, I don't think I'll ever come back. read more

My mom is from Karachi originally and has been here for over 50 years. currently she is staying in a rehabilitation center in San Jose but she won't eat the food there. I found this spot online and she couldn't believe it was specifically Karachi style! She is so happy tha so she has me order food from this restaurant almost every single day. I've never heard her compliment Any restaurant food like this. She says she hasn't had such good Pakistani food in so many years. She asks for the Nihari now every day. I enjoy Pakistani food in general. Was excited to try this new restaurant. Pakistani goat recipes are generally great so we ordered Spinach Goat curry with roti and Halwa Poori Platter. It was a great meal overall. The spinach goat curry was just amazing! Goat well done and perfectly spicy ( it is on the spicier end, but meat dishes taste better that way). Didn't sense a lot of cream in the curry, but it did seem a littleon the oiler side. My husband enjoyed the halwa poori platter a lot. The chole that came with the platter did seem very bland though. Finally decided to give this spot a try after having walked by it so many times. I love Indian food so I had high hopes for this place. I got the Haji's chicken qorma, saffron chai, garlic and butter naan's. My sister got ordered their chicken tikka pizza and their salam cola. I appreciated the disclaimer on the menu saying that everything is cooked from scratch so the food may take a little longer than usual to come out. The chicken qorma was good. Could've had a bit more chicken but no complaints. I liked that it tasted clean and didn't leave a strong smell of curry on me afterwards. Both the garlic and butter naan's were great! Super fluffy and buttery. Loved them! The saffron chai just tasted like regular chai with saffron sprinkled on top so it didn't really change the flavor too much. You're better off just ordering a regular chai. My chicken qorma took about 20 minutes to come out which is reasonable taking their disclaimer into account. My sister's chicken tikka pizza took over 1 hour to come out. By the time it came out, I had finished my entire meal and we were still waiting a good 20 minutes after. If we had been a couple on a date, it would've been super awkward with how long the pizza took to come out. When it came out, the served brought ketchup with it which we initially thought was weird but after tasting a slice of the pizza it was the cheesiest most flavorless pizza I've ever tasted in my life. I'm guessing the ketchup was supposed to complement the pizza since it had no flavor. Nothing about it tasted Indian. I took two bites and couldn't eat it anymore due to how bad it was and felt bad she waited that long for an awful pizza. Service and prices were decent considering the area. Overall, it was nice to finally try this place but I don't think I'll be back. Hajis never disappoint. Tonight I tried the "All Day Brunch". The kids got the chicken tika masala and the vegan paneer. The flavors and textures that come out of Hajis kitchen are amazing. The butter naan and garlic naan are perfect complements to the meal. My daughter said, "Finally; good vegan food in Willow Glen!" Our server was prompt and friendly. The place was empty when we arrived but started filling up about 6 PM. Hajis is not fast food. Everything is cooked to order so plan on ordering a Chai and relaxing while your meal is being crafted. Since it is individually prepared, feel free to ask for a customized meal. More spice? Less heat? Add chicken? No problem. We were out the door for $62 for three meals and 2 sides of naan. We will not be returning. The food and the takeout service need a complete overhaul. - WHAT WE ORDERED - Mint lemonade It's dried mint, not fresh, sprinkled into a bad lemonade mix. Hajis Special Naan What was so special? A flavorless bread with sesame seeds. Garlic Naan The thickest, fluffiest naan I've ever eaten--thats not bad necessarily, but it's not what I expect from naan. It was also lacking garlic flavor. Paneer Tikka Masala My toddler enjoyed a few bites. But the adults found it to lack depth of flavor. Also oily and separated. Goat Qorma We pulled it out of the bag and we're met with a thick layer of grease. Again, lacked flavor. It was just greasy meat. It obviously had been prepared much earlier in the day and sat under a heat lamp to cause such intense separation. Peshawari Chaplin Kabob Simply not good. I hate to be so harsh. Out of the three adults at the table, only one took a second bite of this dish. -SERVICE- While the staff were polite, but their organization was lacking. We waited 15 minutes past the estimated pick up window for our takeout order. The lemonade seemed to be the thing holding them up.
