Recommended by our friend. Amazing, amazing food. The service was so fast and friendly. We had the vada idli combo, vijaywada paneer pesarattu, and apricot sweet delight. Everything was delivered super fast. They even took our picture with the Ganesh ji at the entrance.

Not my favorite Indian food to be honest. I prefer northern Indian cuisine aka butter chicken. This thali was pretty spicy and a lot of sides were pretty sour to the point where I couldn't tell if it was supposed to be that sour, or if it was going off. Unfortunately not coming back.

Really loved this spot for good South Indian food! They have really tasty dosas. I got the vijaywada Paneer dosa and it was delicious. Ample parking and really nice vibes inside!

TLDR: Solid spot for andhra style tiffin; standout chutneys I liked the spacious set-up and decor of this spot- we walked in on a Saturday morning and were promptly seated. i got the idli vada combo - prices are similar to Mylapore Express but i liked the taste way better than their idli and vada. Their chutneys are specifically awesome - I couldnt get enough of it. Will definitely be visiting this spot again.

Decent 4th of July Dinner, But Service Needs Work We came to UlavacharU Tiffins for a 4th of July dinner. Overall, most of the dishes were good, but the experience had some rough spots. What We Tried: - Idly Vada Combo: Fresh and tasty. - Hot Pongal: Warm, comforting, and flavorful. - Kara Masala Dosa: Nicely crisp with good spice. - Korma Paratha: This was the only real disappointment--bland and lacking any distinct taste. The biggest issue was the service. It was excruciatingly slow, and we waited so long for extra chutneys that by the time they arrived, we had already finished eating. Overall, while most of the food was enjoyable, the slow service and the underwhelming korma paratha made the experience feel just average. Ambiance is basic and suitable for a cozy meal with friends and family.

We went for brunch on the weekend we ordered a thali and rava dosa. After 25 minutes I got a cold rava dosa, I sent it back, but still no thali in sight, then after several requests got the thali. It came with 2 small poori, cauliflower fries not crispy but tasted good. All the sides were decent. Dal was good tamarind sambar (Pulusu Gojju) was the best of all even though it had watery consistency. Tamarind rice and pulao dishes were ok. Rice was so less it was not enough for the amount for the sides. Dessert was one of the worst that I had. Finally again checking got my rava dosa. But overall lessons learned, food is ok but you won't get service unless you are a big party racking up bill. I know it is common but this one I was feeling like was being ignored, we were just a party of 2.

this is definitely what my favorite does it places in the Bay Area. The service is super quick and I'm always impressed how fast they can whip out your dinner. I have gotten the thali well though it's only available after 6:30 so time your meal correctly. Everything is so delicious and for a great price. The location used to be a Japanese restaurant and you can still see some of the paper sliding door doors, but I think it adds a great vibe.

The menu at this branch was slightly different from the one in Sunnyvale - it has more offerings. In terms of the food: - poori/channa: not as good as the one in Sunnyvale - cheese dosa: good! - masala dosa: decent - chutney/sambar: more spicy compared to the Sunnyvale branch. Service was quick! Ambiance: the venue feels more roomy compared to Sunnyvale.

They now have thali for $18. It's delicious. Though it's limited, there are lot of varieties. The day I tried it, there was puri, four varieties of rice, pappads, pickle, sambar, rasam, dal, two or three varieties of curries, dessert etc. Most of the dishes took me down a nostalgic trip back to Andhra. The dal had ghee and was pure deliciousness. The puris are tiny though, rest of the varieties are also served in tiny quantities so it's not a lot of food. The thali might be a little overpriced given that it's limited. Looks like they now have millet based dishes on weekends before 11.30 AM, will try that next!

High quality and the standard for South Indian food. My dad, brother and I make it a tradition to come here all the time because the food is too good. Comfort food is the best. Service is fast. I love this location more than the Santa Clara one because of all the wood. I think this place used to be a Japanese restaurant.

    Daily Special Thali

Went here for dinner on a Sunday night and it was moderately busy with a 10 minute wait to be seated. I tried their daily special thali, which was delicious. The best dishes in the thali were the Amaranth leaves moong dal fry, Pooris, and Spinach dal. One thing that could be improved is the rice portion size in the thali, which was a little small for the amount of curries. The ambiance is better than their Santa Clara location, and the service was quick.

If you cherish South Indian breakfasts, Ulavacharu Tiffins in Campbell is a gem that's open early from 8:30am to 2:30pm making it a perfect spot for morning cravings or an early lunch. Morning Favorites * Podi Idli: My go-to favorite! These soft, fluffy idlis are dusted with their house-made podi, bringing bold South Indian flavors to every bite. * Kara Dosa: Crispy, spicy, and brimming with taste, this dosa is a must-try for anyone who loves a bit of heat with their breakfast. * Benne Dosa: An especially unique find at this location. This buttery, rich dosa isn't available at other Ulavacharu branches in the area. * Take-home Podi: Don't leave without picking up a tub of their signature podi to enjoy with homemade dishes. Don't Miss * Filter Coffee: No South Indian breakfast is complete without a cup of authentic filter coffee. Their brew is smooth, aromatic, and the perfect companion to their tiffins. Why You'll Love It * Open early for breakfast, making it a top choice for morning South Indian fare. * Spacious, inviting, and clean ambiance. * Friendly, attentive staff and quick service. * The menu has plenty of vegan and gluten-free options. If you want big south Indian flavors and unbeatable value, wake up and head over to Ulavacharu Tiffins for an experience that sets the gold standard for breakfast in Campbell!

Coffee dumped by the server (John) on the table spilling on the floor and pants!

We were here for a farewell lunch for a friend and the service was horrible! One order took forever to arrive - the rest of the group had already finished. The server John was extremely rude on multiple occasions. He asked us to hurry up as he said there were others waiting and this was even before all of us had even finished eating. We had ordered coffee... John came and literally dumped the coffee on the table spilling it on someone's pant apart from the table and the floor - see pictures... so overall very disappointing experience- least expected!!!

I ordered the egg biryani, butter chicken, and their friday curry flight that came with the choice of 3 curries, a salad, raita, and naan. The biryani was super flavorful and not dry, and the egg paired with it well. All the curries were spicy and delicious, honestly not much more to say about it. I will say their raita is not my favorite, its just thick plain yogurt. I ordered online and I had to wait a little when I got there but that was okay. Local Pakistani artwork adorning the walls. Delicious grilled meat smells wafting around as well. ***FOOD: we got chicken 65, naan and samosa chaat sans yogurt. *chicken 65-3/5- this was almost beetroot red in color. In my naivety I hoped it was some natural food color using beetroot. But I later learnt from them that it was not. It left me appalled at the liberal use of such toxic artificial colors. Colors aside, the chicken itself was delicious. But I will make sure to ask them beforehand next time and order something that doesn't have colors. *naan-5/5- this was amazing. Hot from the tandoor. It wasn't charred at the bottom. It was light and large. It was clear that it was made by someone who knew their craft. I will come back here just for the naan. *samosa chaat-3/5- this made me sick, I had an upset tummy for a few days after. It was hot day so I m assuming they had problems with their chutney or maybe it was the samosa with the potato filling. Upset tummy aside, the chaat flavors were decent, not the best of the lot but decent nonetheless.

For a Saturday morning, the energy was calm -- a good sign for a small spot that could easily get overwhelmed. The waitress set the tone early. Warm, unhurried, she asked how we had heard about the place before taking the order -- the kind of question a restaurant only asks when it is still building its crowd and actually wants to know the answer. Filter coffee arrived without delay, hot, no shortcuts. The upma and mini tiffin combo followed. Portions were generous and the food arrived warm. But dish after dish played it safe right up to the edge of forgettable. The upma had correct texture with none of the assertiveness that makes a good upma worth finishing slowly. The sambar leaned thin. The chutneys were there, present and accounted for, doing the minimum. Everything assembled correctly, nothing bold enough to make you look up from the table. Meenakshi Bhavan gets enough right on a weekend morning to be worth knowing about -- clean space, genuinely warm service, honest portions. The waitress clearly takes pride in the hospitality side of things. The kitchen needs to match that energy with a firmer hand on the seasoning. Good enough for a familiar weekend breakfast. Not yet good enough to become a habit. The paintings on the walls that were Indian and Tamilnadu related was great, but the other art work seemed out of place, not sure what the thought process there was with the management. Things where this could improve: Coffee taste can improve (may be sourcing from a different coffee vendor may help, seemed like a standard Narassu's powder from a grocery shop near by that probably was at least a few months old) Chutneys need a certain kick and that was definitely missing. Cleanliness can be improved for sure.

Everything was just wonderful, and the food alone gets a solid five stars from me. Complex flavors, just the right amount of heat. Papadum, tandoori salmon, lamb saag, and gajar halwa were outstanding. The staff, unfortunately, looked inexperienced and standoffish. We came in at an off-peak time. The place was nearly empty, so it was not like they had their hands full. As we were going through the meal, not a single dirty plate was taken away from our table. When we finished dessert, all the used dishes from the appetizer and main course were still on the table. That was so odd. It was rather hard to get the attention of the servers. At one point, a server who had brought our dishes before was standing in the back of the room and looking straight at me. I tried to summon him first by making eye contact, then by a meek hand wave, but he redirected his look a little away from me and just continued standing there. We were brought the wrong dessert and realized that only after we started eating, but decided it would be too much hassle to get it replaced. We live very close by and will likely come back for takeout, but not for dine-in.
