    Veg combo lunch thali

Not my favorite Indian food to be honest. I prefer northern Indian cuisine aka butter chicken. This thali was pretty spicy and a lot of sides were pretty sour to the point where I couldn't tell if it was supposed to be that sour, or if it was going off. Unfortunately not coming back.

The newer location! Ulavacharu always deserves high praise, and my experience was overall positive! But compared to the other locations, this one felt like it had room to grow, but that's justified seeing that it's still pretty new. Masala Dosa 7/10: Good, but definitely a far cry from the best dosas i've had. The potato mixture inside was very chunky and not mashed much, whereas the crispy outer layer of the dosa was nice but felt a little lackluster with cracks and being slightly cold to the touch. Podi Idly 9/10: Damn good! a little bit of spice to them, it comes with 3 and are a great shareable appetizer with lots of yummy dipping sauces. i liked the peanut based one in particular and the bell pepper sauce is a close second! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Service was pretty good but the bathrooms were on the dingy side.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Parking is plentiful but i saw lots of people struggling to park near the restaurant entrance... highly recommend just parking near the back where it's very roomy if you have a big car!

Really loved this spot for good South Indian food! They have really tasty dosas. I got the vijaywada Paneer dosa and it was delicious. Ample parking and really nice vibes inside!

TLDR: Solid spot for andhra style tiffin; standout chutneys [[HIGHLIGHT]]I liked the spacious set-up and decor of this spot- we walked in on a Saturday morning and were promptly seated.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] i got the idli vada combo - prices are similar to Mylapore Express but i liked the taste way better than their idli and vada. Their chutneys are specifically awesome - I couldnt get enough of it. Will definitely be visiting this spot again.

Decent 4th of July Dinner, But Service Needs Work We came to UlavacharU Tiffins for a 4th of July dinner. Overall, most of the dishes were good, but the experience had some rough spots. What We Tried: - Idly Vada Combo: Fresh and tasty. - Hot Pongal: Warm, comforting, and flavorful. - Kara Masala Dosa: Nicely crisp with good spice. - Korma Paratha: This was the only real disappointment--bland and lacking any distinct taste. The biggest issue was the service. It was excruciatingly slow, and we waited so long for extra chutneys that by the time they arrived, we had already finished eating. Overall, while most of the food was enjoyable, the slow service and the underwhelming korma paratha made the experience feel just average. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance is basic and suitable for a cozy meal with friends and family.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

We went for brunch on the weekend we ordered a thali and rava dosa. After 25 minutes I got a cold rava dosa, I sent it back, but still no thali in sight, then after several requests got the thali. It came with 2 small poori, cauliflower fries not crispy but tasted good. All the sides were decent. Dal was good tamarind sambar (Pulusu Gojju) was the best of all even though it had watery consistency. Tamarind rice and pulao dishes were ok. Rice was so less it was not enough for the amount for the sides. Dessert was one of the worst that I had. Finally again checking got my rava dosa. But overall lessons learned, food is ok but you won't get service unless you are a big party racking up bill. I know it is common but this one I was feeling like was being ignored, we were just a party of 2.

this is definitely what my favorite does it places in the Bay Area. The service is super quick and I'm always impressed how fast they can whip out your dinner. I have gotten the thali well though it's only available after 6:30 so time your meal correctly. Everything is so delicious and for a great price. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The location used to be a Japanese restaurant and you can still see some of the paper sliding door doors, but I think it adds a great vibe.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

The menu at this branch was slightly different from the one in Sunnyvale - it has more offerings. In terms of the food: - poori/channa: not as good as the one in Sunnyvale - cheese dosa: good! - masala dosa: decent - chutney/sambar: more spicy compared to the Sunnyvale branch. Service was quick! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance: the venue feels more roomy compared to Sunnyvale.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

They now have thali for $18. It's delicious. Though it's limited, there are lot of varieties. The day I tried it, there was puri, four varieties of rice, pappads, pickle, sambar, rasam, dal, two or three varieties of curries, dessert etc. Most of the dishes took me down a nostalgic trip back to Andhra. The dal had ghee and was pure deliciousness. The puris are tiny though, rest of the varieties are also served in tiny quantities so it's not a lot of food. The thali might be a little overpriced given that it's limited. Looks like they now have millet based dishes on weekends before 11.30 AM, will try that next!

High quality and the standard for South Indian food. My dad, brother and I make it a tradition to come here all the time because the food is too good. Comfort food is the best. Service is fast. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I love this location more than the Santa Clara one because of all the wood.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I think this place used to be a Japanese restaurant.

    Daily Special Thali
    Srujan N.

Went here for dinner on a Sunday night and it was moderately busy with a 10 minute wait to be seated. I tried their daily special thali, which was delicious. The best dishes in the thali were the Amaranth leaves moong dal fry, Pooris, and Spinach dal. One thing that could be improved is the rice portion size in the thali, which was a little small for the amount of curries. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance is better than their Santa Clara location[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]], and the service was quick.

I ordered the egg biryani, butter chicken, and their friday curry flight that came with the choice of 3 curries, a salad, raita, and naan. The biryani was super flavorful and not dry, and the egg paired with it well. All the curries were spicy and delicious, honestly not much more to say about it. I will say their raita is not my favorite, its just thick plain yogurt. I ordered online and I had to wait a little when I got there but that was okay. The interior is also spacious will lots of seating.

Local Pakistani artwork adorning the walls. Delicious grilled meat smells wafting around as well. ***FOOD: we got chicken 65, naan and samosa chaat sans yogurt. *chicken 65-3/5- this was almost beetroot red in color. In my naivety I hoped it was some natural food color using beetroot. But I later learnt from them that it was not. It left me appalled at the liberal use of such toxic artificial colors. Colors aside, the chicken itself was delicious. But I will make sure to ask them beforehand next time and order something that doesn't have colors. *naan-5/5- this was amazing. Hot from the tandoor. It wasn't charred at the bottom. It was light and large. It was clear that it was made by someone who knew their craft. I will come back here just for the naan. *samosa chaat-3/5- this made me sick, I had an upset tummy for a few days after. It was hot day so I m assuming they had problems with their chutney or maybe it was the samosa with the potato filling. Upset tummy aside, the chaat flavors were decent, not the best of the lot but decent nonetheless.

On our most recent visit we ordered 6 food items: * the chaat was good, creatively executed * the corn seekh kebab was raw and inedible and had to be sent back. To their credit they did not charge us for that item, or the chaat * the Andhra style chili chicken came out as a glob of unrecognizable stuff, and we couldn't even tell what the white strips on top were because they were so mushy * based on the texture and smell the fish they used in the red snapper curry had been frozen at some point--one would expect them to source fresh seafood * the okra was tough and stringy, a sign that they used poor quality okra * the reshmi paratha was dripping in oil/butter, and not hot when it was served To top it all off, they let someone bring a dog into the indoor eating area. Which I'm sure is a health code violation. It seems they've started cutting corners in the kitchen, and it shows up in the product. The problem is mostly back-of-house Jashn had so much potential when they first opened, and it's disappointing that things have gone downhill. We will not be going there again.

They were one of the few places still open, and we're really glad we stopped in. The restaurant was quiet with only a couple of other tables, which made for a nice, relaxing lunch. Every dish tasted fresh and homemade, and the portions were huge for the price. Our favorite by far was the garbanzo bean roll. It was packed with flavor, and I'd honestly come back just for that. The Himalayan chicken was another winner. We ordered the dark meat, and it was incredibly juicy, tender, and perfectly cooked. We also tried the YYWAIWAI, a popular street food dish. It reminded me a little of chaat, but I was expecting more crunch. Ours was a little soft and soggy, so it's probably not something I'd order again. The only dish I'd skip is the garlic pesto naan. It was pretty flat, oily, and just didn't do much for us. Even with a couple of dishes that weren't our favorites, everything else was so good that we're already talking about coming back to explore more of the menu. It's always fun finding a spot that's a little off the beaten path, and this one definitely earned a return visit.
