Benne Dosa, super combo (was missing the vada tho..), Adai + aviyal (Thursday $5 special - good deal!!)

Idly Express is a chain - I've been to the one in Fremont, Milpitas, and this one! Came on a Thursday at 7:30pm and it was pretty busy! This location has outdoor seating and one indoor table reserved for seniors. Honestly, I really love Idly Express as the food is consistent no matter which location and its comfort food. It's a no frills place. If you love carbs + sauce, you will love the food here!! Sometimes I don't even know what I'm ordering, but it's always good!! I've tried basically all their snack menu, dosa, onion uthappam...I think my favorite to order is their super combo and also their $5 daily specials! Sambar and all the chutneys are full of flavor

Love this place for a nice hot meal. Especially on a cold night. The sambar is delicious and hearty their idols are nice and fluffy and the vada is nice and crispy. I tried the super combo recently and it came with a mini masala dosa which was a nice surprise because I thought they didn't do any dosa at this location. The service is quick and the guy at the front is always helpful and happy. This time he offered us a complimentary Dahi vada which was super nice of him! :-)

Came in excited because of the reviews, but left underwhelmed. Service was cold and inattentive no real greeting, no asking if I was dining in, and my food was handed to me packed to-go without utensils. Not a welcoming experience, especially after a long drive. Food was mediocre at best. The idli was fine, but the sambar was bland and lacked flavor. For a South Indian spot, that was disappointing. Between the poor service and underwhelming food, I wouldn't return.

Placed a huge order on jan 1st. found a piece of plastic in Benne masala dosa when i was almost done eating.. Tried calling the place but it went to automated ordering system..sent a message to the owner just letting them know on facebook.. no response or any apology. terrible!

Hungry after running some errands with UPS I decided to check out this spot. I'm not a huge Indian foodie, so take my review with a grain of salt. I was so amazed by the amount of food I received for what I paid. The meal was served quickly and I ate it at the outdoor seats. I regret that I don't remember what I ordered, but there was soup, some sort of carbs, donuts, and some dips and sauces. At first it was good, but the texture of the carbs and soup and donuts were too mushy and similar that I started to feel sort of sick. I believe I may have ordered some sort of combination of side dishes and not a main so that's why. I would definitely try again and choose something that has a distinct flavor and texture to differentiate from the mushiness and mild spices.

Amazing food - food is always fresh consistent and tasty. Great service. Meet Mr. Ahamed here everyday and he greets with a smiley face.

Pleasant service n tasty quick food to go. Few tables outside for seating.

$10 for 1 idly and 1 vada combo!!! Is it worth it? What are your thoughts? I didn't realize till i picked up my order that the combo is no longer 2 items each plus price has gone up. Fyi Manager reached out via DM to share factual data. $8.77 + $1 customary tip =9.77 ~ approx $10. I gave a higher 20% tip when the combo consisted of 3 items. Thank you.

Food was good- service fast. Ambiance- na since it was take away. No place to dine which is an issue.

We definitely will be back to check out other things, though my partner loved the baingan bharta, so I'm guessing that will be a repeat. It had a really complex flavor with some sweetness to it.

The chaat and dahi vada were the highlights of the meal--both were fresh, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. I also tried the samosa with chole The chole tasted fresh and comforting, with a mild spice level that I really enjoyed. However, I wasn't a fan of the samosa's outer layer, as it seemed a bit overcooked and slightly burnt. That said, the filling was tasty and paired well with a cup of chai. For the entrée, I ordered their vegetarian meal and requested a customization with paneer which they happily accommodated for an additional charge. The meal turned out to be satisfying and delicious. My friend ordered the Chicken Seekh Kebab Wrapand mentioned that it was very good as well. The mango lassi was super fresh and refreshing. Another nice touch was the self-service station offering sweet chutney, green chutney, and pickle, which added extra flavor and earned bonus points from me. *Vegetarian Foodie Review*…read more Always wanted to try this cafe and finally went in there today. It was at a walkable distance from my daughter's gymnastics camp. It was around 2PM, and we wanted some quick snack bites. This felt like a perfect place. Super cute cafe kind of ambiance. It has books, games etc to chill and my daughter & I had fun exploring it together. The menu didn't feel super huge, which is good because it makes me feel the items must be really good. I ended up ordering the paneer sandwich for myself and the veg panini for my 5 year old. 1) The paneer sandwich was my fav - it had a subtle hint of sweetness. The flavors really talked to me. The paneer portion was generous in my sandwich, a good protein-packed sandwich. 2) My daughter attacked the Veg panini and finished it in just a few mins. She told me it was super tasty, and didn't even let me try it. All sandwiches comes with fries - they were super yummy too, however, they were a tad bit salty and it would have been the best if they would tone down the salt a bit. Overall, I would rate the food at 5/5. My spouse joined us a little later, and I ordered the paneer sandwich one more time for him to eat. He also agreed that it was a 5 on 5. He loved the place too and told me he will definitely try the chai there next time he drops our kid to the gymnastics class. Service was surprisingly a little slow. They took 15 mins to get us the sandwiches, which in my opinion was a bit long considering it was just us in the cafe at that time. However, I had a feeling that they probably made it fresh, so it might take longer due to that. Took off 1 star for slow service. Definitely coming back again to try out more options from the menu!

It did have a lot of sugar, but it was pretty similar flavor-wise to Indian chai (sans milk), so it paired very well with our order. We ordered the chicken suqaar and the beef wrap. We opted for the chapati (sabaayad in Somali) with the chicken suqaar, but would love to try their rice or their version of injera during our next visit! The menu at first glance looks kinda confusing since they have Lunch in big letters on one side with a ton of their dishes and Dinner on the other side with the remainder of the dishes, making it seem like a few items are available during this time... but the Lunch portion just states that it comes with a side of rice, pasta, chapati, or injera (which is the same as Dinner...) so kind of an interesting stylistic choice there, but this is to say that everything on the menu is available the whole time they're open. The meals were so flavorful- the chicken suqaar had a ton of onions, carrots, chicken, green-bean like veggie, and spices, and was served with a green sauce that had kind of a habanero or jalapeno taste to it. The beef wrap was huge and I only ate half of one for dinner- it was flavored so well and the beef was cooked perfectly. This came with a side of the green sauce and a white sauce. I'd love to return and try their injera with chicken, kay kay chicken, beef suqaar or beef steak, and their sambusas! I saw some on another diner's plate and it looked sizable and filling. Jubba is located right next to a VTA light rail and an apartment complex so there's decent foot traffic, but overall, a wonderful place to try and eat!

One of the few Indian restaurants that doesn't taste like they have three main sauces they pull from with no effort to make flavors differentiate or pop. The dishes here taste like the chef's actually care about the food. Service is polite and simple. Very low maintenance. Not a restaurant if you like to be picky. Come to enjoy it as it is. My only complaint (and it is minor) is that, because they do a lot of take out, they have a lot of drinks and other items prepared to just grab and go for you. This doesn't work if your order anything other than water to drink at the table. They offer really interesting and refreshing tea/lemonades, yet when they bring the drink it comes prepared to go in plastic cup, sealed, with boba style fat straw (as opposed to the very elegant picture on their menu). It stood out as massively tacky and ugly, especially because of how thoughtful the design choices are for the table scape and the rest of the dining experience. Strange place to cut a corner. Even opening the to go cup at the counter, pouring it into one of the lovely water glasses (which is what I did, lol) would be easy and streamline the beautiful experience.

I stopped because I felt that…read moredining experiences are personal, and everyone should have the opportunity to form their own opinion. Yesterday, however, I changed my mind after having one of the most disappointing dining experiences I've had at Saapaaduu. I've tried to dine here a couple of times over the past few years, but it was always crowded, so we ended up leaving. Since we were in the area yesterday, we decided to give it another try. We arrived around 8:00 PM with our family, including kids, and waited about an hour for a table. Even though I added my phone number to the waitlist, I never received any updates, and it didn't seem like people were being called in the order they were added. By the time we were seated, it was already 9:00 PM. We ordered a few dishes. The appetizers--Chicken 65, Chicken Lollipop, and Pallipalayam Chicken--arrived one by one. About 30 minutes later, our server informed us that they were out of Seeraga Samba Chicken Biryani and only had Vijayawada Chicken Biryani available. Since it was already late and we had no real alternative, we agreed. It then took another 20 minutes for the biryani to arrive. Unfortunately, the Vijayawada Chicken Biryani was nothing like a biryani. It was simply dry basmati rice with chicken gravy sitting at the bottom of the bowl. The rice was dry, and the dish lacked the flavor and texture you'd expect from a biryani. I took one spoonful and left the rest--I didn't even want to take it home. The Pallipalayam Chicken tasted nothing but same chicken curry in Vijayawada biryani with coconut chunks and didn't have the authentic flavor I was expecting. Overall, nothing stood out. The food was mediocre at best and did not justify the long wait. The restaurant itself is quite small. The person at the front desk mentioned that it accommodates around 40 guests at a time, which seems about right for the 8-10 tables inside. Given the limited seating and the consistently long wait times, I strongly feel they should implement an online reservation or waitlist system. Families with young children shouldn't have to stand outside for an hour without updates. It almost feels like the long line has become part of the restaurant's image rather than something they're trying to improve. I genuinely wanted to like this place after hearing so much about it over the years, but unfortunately, the overall experience--from the wait, to the service, to the food--was disappointing. I apologize for leaving a negative review, as that's not something I usually do. However, I believe sharing an honest experience is fair to both the restaurant and future customers. I sincerely hope the restaurant takes this feedback constructively and improves the overall dining experience.

They had some teas where I had good experiences many years ago. Who knows what has happened in since then. The expiration dates ranged from a few months from today to two years in the future. Check the expiration dates before you purchase. To my ignorant eyes, I couldn't even guess at the identity of 98% of the items. I did recognize a few items which I've had before. They seem to be part of most Indian meals and they're quite delicious. Unfortunately, the carb count is so high that I can't really eat them anymore. The size of the store is big enough that there is an array of each product so you have great selection. I couldn't tell if the prices were high or low so I took a bunch of pictures and you can decide for yourself. The kitchen area seems super well stocked. I recognized a spice/coffee/peppermill. I actually purchased this. It was a total disaster. The brand was kinjal. It was completely unable to grind peppercorn. I tried grinding oregano . No dice. Since the item cannot be returned, I am stuck with recycling it. I recognize a press. I would have guessed it was a tortilla press, but I doubt that was it. I have just purchased a tortilla press. The only drawback was mine is bigger and more suited to what I want. I recognized the mortar and pestles.. They were made of heavy stone and I didn't recognize what it was made of. But the price is sure better than the marble mortar and pestle that I purchased 40 years ago. I saw something that looked like a wok. It was so large that there is no possible way for me to heat that thing. To me the only way to handle a wok that big would have to be a bonfire. Also, who the heck makes that much food. I think this is an implement that is most useful for a restaurant. There was an array of copper products. Pure copper. Hand hammered. The price was amazing, but I don't really need these items. I reluctantly passed them by. But the prices were astonishingly low for copper. Now copper has antimicrobial properties so I felt higher confidence in performance than rival products made of glass or stainless steel. If you let copper form the reddish brown patina, the patina is more durable and has higher antimicrobial activity than pure copper. This is the reason why copper pipes command such a high price and last longer than other materials. For now it's time for me to acquire an Indian cookbook so I can have a shot at recognizing at least some of the ingredients. Like many Asian stores cleanliness was certainly not the highest priority. The floor was faintly grubby, although the products didn't have any dust or dirt. But an enormous number of products had no expiration dates so who knows. But based on my experience with the teas I decided I would not pick up spices here. They do have a section with whole spices and powdered but Indian cooking seems to have shifted to pre-milled spice packets. I certainly appreciate this convenience. It also means I have a shot at recognizing the mix. I did not eat any of the prepared foods. Most of them looked carb high and oily. I have problems tolerating both so it was a hard pass for me. I ended up buying an assortment of kitchen implements which filled some of the holes in my collection. That's pretty impressive since my collection is extensive.
