All of the food we tried was really tasty. Creative and delicious rolls. The sake flight was fun. Everything was reasonably priced. It gets busy around 6 but if you go before it is easy to walk in without reservations. The only thing for me was a weird smell in the restaurant when we got there, which was a little concerning considering what we were planning to eat. But the food was good.

Ikura (salmon roe), edadame, & a special riceless roll. Also had delicious mushroom. Skewers.

Last minute stopped into the newly located Hakane.Warm setting with delicious dishes at every turn. Artful, scrumptious sushi... difficult to decide between specialty rolls and standards; both were excellent. Mushroom appetizer was a flavorful concentration of shiitakeness. Hakane is a reliable culinary oasis.

Great friendly service and you can tell the fish is nice quality. We sat on their front patio and had a view of the mountains. They have moved locations to another building not far away from the last one

This was quite literally the single most exquisite experience I've ever had outside of a Michelin star restaurant , the staff is absolutely fantastic and makes the atmosphere feel like a home for the truly wonderful. The food is new, exciting, and delectable, at no point did I want to stop absolutely stuffing my face like a pig until I burst. Some places are dangers for expired food or bad service, this place is dangerous because it will make you never want to leave and always yearning for more, five stars.

We sat there 30 min with no water. Nobody came to check on us so we just stared at the menu for 15 minutes. Last time i came here was 12 years ago. Things really changed.

Very nice spot for sushi . They can get busy very fast so don't be surprised if there is a wait between courses.

All were absolutely spectacular, & the bluefin was melt-in-your-mouth buttery. Dishes were so perfectly flavored & constructed, & even the tabletop soy sauce was uniquely special. It has an intimate dining room, so get there early or plan to wait for a little (it will be worth it). The staff is very friendly & attentive. We were starved after a day in the mountains and luckily didn't have to wait too long for a space here at Full Moon. The restaurant can maybe only seat 30 ish people outside/inside at once and my girlfriend were sat at the bar which initially didn't excite me too much but being right in front of the sushi master was sweet as were handed each role by him as soon as it was prepared. My girlfriend and were instantly impressed with each item we ordered. The pork belly skewers and Ceviche came out first which was stark contrast between the steamy chewy tendy pork and the zesty rich ceviche with a lovely serving of crunchy red onion, cucumber, and a lovely mix of seafood. Also the cut rolls were premier. Quality of mint, fish, and cucumber and wasabi were all 10/10. If remi from ratatouille was Japanese, I would have thought he'd been in the chef's hat as he was preparing our food. All our plates were powerful in flavor, presentation and made us eager to return if ever in Ojai again. The service here is friendly, genuine, and efficient. I look forward to another chance to dine here again.

For food, we ordered a few things including the Cesare salad, Tortelli, scallops, seafood pasta, lamb shank, mushrooms, and one other special. Everything was ok, but nothing was particularly remarkable or interesting. All the food was well-prepared and the lamb was tender. The Cesare salad was good and so were the scallops. I wouldn't get the Tortelli again, it was plain. The service was poor. We had to flag the server down a few times. She didn't check in with us throughout the meal. My friend didn't like her cocktail and asked for a new menu and she ordered another drink. We didn't make a fuss and the server didn't ask about the full cocktail that she took away. I don't expect them to comp the drink, but the server should have at least asked what was wrong or why she didn't like it. Feedback is important and she didn't seem to want any. I expected better service at this restaurant, which is supposed to be one of the better restaurants in Ojai. Overall, I'd recommend going elsewhere if you're in town. The food was good, but nothing special and there are other great restaurants that are more affordable, with better service.

The Farmer and the Cook -- Fresh Finds Off the Main Road…read more I'll be honest, I wasn't sure what to expect walking in for the first time, but The Farmer and the Cook won me over pretty quickly. It's bright, clean, and has this easy organic warmth to it... the kind of place that feels like it was put together by people who actually care. Right off the main road, easy to find, and the family vibes are real. It's the kind of spot you want to linger in. If you're navigating dietary restrictions, this place is a quiet goldmine. Strong gluten free options, a genuinely vegan friendly menu, and plenty of vegetarian choices too... so everyone at the table actually gets to eat something they're excited about. That's rarer than it should be. The food? Solid. I went with the raw tacos, sopes, and huarache; all filling, all fairly priced for the area. The raw tacos especially surprised me... fresh, flavorful, and not in a "I wish this was a real taco" kind of way. These hold their own. Service was quick and most of the staff had a warm, genuine energy about them. The one small snag; the cashier seemed to be having a rough one. A little gruff, made me feel like my first visit was mildly inconvenient for them. It happens, we all have bad days, but first impressions do stick a little. Overall though, I'm absolutely coming back. There's more on that menu calling my name and an atmosphere that makes it easy to slow down for a bit. Whether you're vegan, gluten free, or just looking for something fresh and honest... this one's worth the stop.
