Too many food safety violations to count. Lack of refrigeration for raw meat, cross contamination in the prep station, condiments above cold holding temperatures, etc.

Halal Kebab by Farhod is a standout spot located under a bridge in downtown Los Angeles. This is the original location that gained popularity on social media and it truly sets itself apart from the other food stalls nearby. The service is great and the staff is very catering while the food arrives in about 15 minutes. The plate comes in a large box loaded with yellow rice and your choice of two meats alongside a fresh salad and pita bread. I ordered the chicken and beef but the beef was a bit chewy for my taste. Next time I would stick with the chicken or try the koobideh. You can customize your meal with various sauces on the side or add lemons and jalapeños for extra heat. Despite the texture of the beef, the meal was spectacular and the chicken was a highlight.

Baba Kebab is the real deal. We went on a Friday night and got there at 8 p.m. The line looked short, but it still took about an hour. That's because everything is made to order, right in front of you. They skewer the meat by hand, grill it over charcoal, and refresh the grill often. The toppings are also prepped right there. It's a full process, and you can tell. By the time we reached the front, they only had two items left. The Adana beef kebab was sold out. We got the beef shish kebab and the chicken kebab. Both were phenomenal. The chicken was tender, juicy, and full of spice. The beef had this deep smoky flavor from the charcoal that made it unforgettable. You can tell how fresh everything is. It's incredible how hard it is to find delicious Turkish kebabs in L.A. There's metered parking around the block. They take cash and Apple Pay, which made things easy. If you're thinking about going, do it. It's worth the wait. They're not on Yelp, which makes them hard to find unless you've seen them on TikTok or searched them on Google, but spread the word. It's truly a gem. I've already shared this with friends and reposted the TikToks. This spot deserves the hype.

Would not recommend. First off they throw the tortillas over the RAW chicken to heat it up before putting it in your cooked plate. My dish came with no sauce no tziki no hummus nothing. The plate is a mess and I won't be eating it. Waited a half hour for this. Nope nope! The meat is so tough it's not edible at all! Like this was a waste of 17 dollars! If you can't get rice salad and meat right.... What can you do?

Tbh it was just alright. The service was fine, nothing special, kind of slow to be attentive. To that, it had a nice layed back and chill vibe. It took about 15 minutes for my food. Waiting there, we'd constantly be hit with the whiffs of smoke from the open grill, which got me more excited and hopeful for a good smokey flavor. When actually eating the food it was a bit disappointing. The meat was fine, only tasted that Smokey flavor here and there. I felt the ingredients were fresh and at that they're good, but the flavor itself was kind of lacking. Just felt like ingredients thrown together but no strong combination of flavor to take it home

This is two guys set up on the street here on Figueroa just south of sunset blvd on the west side of Figueroa . They make delicious kebabs made of chicken , rib eye, lamb and possibly other meats , cooked over mesquite right here on the street , they've definitely got this thing down . The kebabs are delicious , I had the chicken kebab and it was great , very flavorful , tender chicken over basmati rice and a nice salad , they were nice and very welcoming , the food is good and has a good price point . Support your street vendors and especially the delicious street vending spots which these guys definitely fall into. Plenty of food, I couldn't even finish the whole thing they give you two kebabs per meal and it's super good .

Once you're seated, they bring out a few complimentary side dishes (Kimchi, pickled carrot, seaweed, salad and their signature dry spice seasoning. Ordering is easy through the QR code menu. Depending on what you order, some skewers are grilled by the kitchen while others are cooked on the automatic rotating grill right at your table, which adds to the fun dining experience. This visit, I tried: * Lamb Kebab (10 pcs) * Mala Lamb Kebab (5 pcs) * Beef Kebab (10 pcs) * Beef Tendon (5 pcs) * Chicken Heart (5 pcs) * Chicken Gizzard (5 pcs) * Chicken Wings * Quail * Matsutake Mushroom * Green Chives * Cucumber * Eggplant * Pan Fried Bun with Pork & Vegetable The lamb kebab and quail remain my two must-order items after all these years. The lamb is tender and flavorful without having a strong gamey taste, making it a good option even for people who don't usually eat lamb. The mala lamb kebab simply adds a nice layer of numbing spice which I don't find it special. The beef kebab was good as well, although I personally prefer the lamb. Chicken hearts and gizzards were decent. The beef tendon wasn't my favorite this time and didn't seem as fresh. Chicken wings were solid and nicely seasoned. For vegetables, I actually enjoyed the cucumber more than the chives and eggplant. The matsutake mushroom was good, though not particularly memorable. If you're a fan of meat buns, don't skip the pan-fried pork and vegetable bun. The bun itself was soft and fluffy, and I especially enjoyed the savory sauce paired on the side. One helpful tip: after 6 PM, you can park for free in the bank parking lot across the street, which makes finding parking much easier. After more than 15 years, Feng Mao continues to be a reliable spot for skewers, especially if you're dining with friends and want to try a variety of grilled meats and vegetables.

The restaurant has a really homey feeling inside, with about four small tables that make it feel cozy and welcoming. It's the kind of place where you immediately feel comfortable. My partner and I ordered the chicken shish kebabs with mejadra rice, salad, and sumac fries. Everything was delicious! The plate also came with hummus and pita, which were incredibly fresh and flavorful. The hummus was smooth, rich, and perfect with the warm pita. Hermon helped recommend our food, cooked it, and even served us. She was so kind and made the whole experience feel really personal. She also offered us complimentary baklava, which was amazing. It had the most soft, chewy texture with just enough sweetness. When I asked her what the secret ingredient was, she just smiled and said she couldn't spoil it so you'll have to try it for yourself! Definitely recommend stopping by if you're in the area.

Chef Okay Inak is a chef of Turkish descent who has worked at fine dining establishments Eleven Madison Park, Per Se and Melisse. In 2024 he opened Sora Craft Kitchen near LA's Fashion District on a street rather devoid of other businesses open to the public. It's a small space, about 14 seats, but very nicely done. The seats are reinforced cardboard boxes that open to store your belongings. The tables are Ikea-like. The large open kitchen is like a stage, visible to all, with a magnificent sound system and a nice unobtrusive playlist. Sora is open Thursday-Sunday for dinner only. This restaurant is literally a one man show, clearly a labour of love. Chef Okay is the chef, host, waiter, busboy and everything in between. He handles each job with aplomb. Although I heard him speaking out loud at times, I don't know if there was another person present (perhaps a dishwasher?) or if he was talking to himself. After being shown your table, you order and pay at a kiosk. The Mediterranean menu includes some classic Turkish dishes, and chef uses traditional methods of lacto-fermentation and limestone/water preservation. Here's what I ordered: 1) Mastabe. A traditional cold meze of house-made yogurt topped with veggies, almonds, garlic and olive oil. 2) Icli kofte (kitel). a Bulgur shell filled with spiced beef over yogurt with herb chimichurri and oil. 3) root vegetable falafel with hummus, herb salad, pickles and a sweet pepper jam 4) garlic-spiced beef kebab with tomato/onion salad and lavash 5) Kirecte kabak. Pumpkin candied using a traditional limestone/water method, finished with tahini and pistachios. I think all tables get pita bread. Everything was fab; my faves would be the kitel, falafel and kirecte kabak. I had heard about and wanted to order the Corti taplamasi, a traditional soup made with lacto-fermented cabbage, but chef said he could not find appropriate cabbage. Everything came out quite quickly; the meal was complete within an hour. Note alcohol and pork are not served. I believe most beverages are canned, except the Turkish coffee of course. A delicious, from-the-heart, soulful meal.
