I think this place is slightly on the more fast-food and Americanized side of things but don't let that deter you from trying it! My favorite is the chicken kebab, it's juicy and flavorful but it's also lean and healthier. I tried the shawarma once and it was too heavy for me. The rice is always cooked right and the toppings are always fresh. They have four different sauces depending on how much you want to spice it up. Service is quick and the whole restaurant is clean and put together. Really exceeds expectations. I've dropped Chipotle and just come here instead when I want a healthy bowl. Everything is clean, sanitized, and shiny. The service is great and fast, but spending over $20 for a plate with a single skewer and a fountain drink is really not necessary. The ingredients are fresh, and the proteins are good. Not overly seasoned and does demonstrate the healthy side of their tag line from the poster on the wall. The chicken is a chicken breast. The Shawarma is decent. The beef is tender, and they even offer shrimp. Wraps are decently sized and neatly constructed, but really lack an acceptable amount of protein. Side offerings cover your usual Mediterranean accompaniments. Very unfortunately, the Tabbouleh was drenched in so much lemon juice that all I tasted was sourness and nothing else. With multiple locations, The Kebab Shop spans from San Diego to Florida to Texas, and many in Southern California. They are a family-run chain backed by Private Equity.
