Luckily, our Airbnb was only about a 5-minute drive away. Located in a parking lot, this spot was bustling at 1 AM. Service was fast and speedy, and they have a self-serve bar stocked with all the fixings, including salsas, onions, cilantro, and the BEST creamy avocado sauce I've ever tried. Everything was super affordable too! My favorites were the asada and lengua tacos. Definitely adding this to my return list for my next trip to LA!

Appreciate the free potato with each order, and toppings included grilled onions, fresh onions and cilantro, salsas, limes, and radishes.

It's probably about as good as a classic burger can get. The meat was juicy, the bun was soft, and everything was cooked and constructed really well. Does it justify the higher price? I'm not entirely sure. Was it a mind-blowing experience? Not really. Was it delicious? Absolutely. I just don't think it's so far superior to other great burgers that most people need to travel 45 minutes for it, especially considering the extremely limited seating, crowded space, and slightly grungy DTLA location. If you're anywhere nearby, Amboy is absolutely worth trying. If you're a true burger connoisseur, it may even be worth the longer pilgrimage. Overall, I'd absolutely recommend Amboy and agree that it's a top-tier burger. I just think there are a lot of really good burgers out there, and it's difficult for something as simple as a burger to reach the almost mythical level of hype that surrounds this one.

Bootie LA is all that rolled into one. Other Yelpers have done a pretty good job at explaining details and the awesome that is Bootie LA, but if you are lazy, here it is in a nutshell: it's a non-pretentious dance party, with mashups, an affordable bar, and a great time if you bring a good group of friends. The venue is at the Echoplex, and the cover is $5 before 10pm. The DJ's are awesome and are always open to playing different mashups if you request them in time. You get a pretty cool crowd. A little more hip, artsy I suppose. Less pretentious than your usual hollywood crowd. You don't need to come all dressed up. Jeans and a t-shirt is fine. Wear comfortable shoes, and light clothing. Take a cab. I had my 30th bday here. It was called Save The Dave. Several months prior, I sent out an e-mail with an email for a "Save The Date", but I made a typo....and my friend Rebecca suggested I make that the name of my party. In any case, at midnight, I got a killer birthday shoutout, with confetti. This was also the last thing I remember from that night. Black out. Holler. What can I say? I turned 30 in style. These are the best hot dogs you'll ever have! Forget Pink's, Carney's or The Hat, for a true LA hot dog experience nothing can stand to the bacon wrapped red and green pepper onions and jalapeno dogs served by the Hot Dog Lady outside of the Shortstop on weekend nights. God I heart her! Those onions are softest and best tasting, specially after a night of drinking and before stumbling down the street to my house. This lady's food is so yummy I can never resist passing by and not stopping. After a night of drinking there's nothing better than a hot dog topped with onions bell peppers etc. I've found myself enjoying a delightful conversation with the hot dog lady. She's really nice because she nods her head and smiles at me while I ramble on about the state of the economy. The hot dog wrapped with bacon topped with sizzling onions with some red/green peppers. Scarfed down one of these amazing hot dogs after Bootie LA last night around 2:15 AM.. Nothing caps a night of dancing like a HUGE, juicy, perfectly cooked dog covered in all the condiments you fancy. Other than hot dogs and chicken quesadillas, she also sells packed fruits and chips on the side. Fresh fruits are $3 a box. Water melon was pretty good for the season. Make sure you bring exact change to avoid having her or yourself going from store to store getting single dollar bills.

The Bomb Dog: It was incredibly messy. That's to be expected when the hot dog is wrapped with bacon covered with mustard, grilled onions, a pile of chili and cheese, and slice of pickle to boot. It was also incredibly good. How U Doin Dog: This was forced upon me after some heckling from my Cali buddies hoping to showcase some kind of east coast sounding hot dog ... but this chicken apple sausage topped with bbq sauce and onions while wrapped in bacon was a surprise. It was really good. The onions were a little excessive but I didn't realize how good bacon and *chicken* sausage would taste together. Bravo. Hippie Dog: Had a bite of this soy based hot dog and was not thrilled. I'm not saying a vegetarian version of a hot dog isn't quality, but I think the combination of me being almost full as well as eating the other hot dogs meant that this one really stood out for the wrong reasons. We also scored fries and chips, which were nominal at best. They made for nice side pieces for the hot dogs, which were clearly the star of the show. They also have salads as well for the health conscious, but we weren't about that life that night. The lemonade is super fresh, I recommend that as the drink of choice over anything else they offer. Lastly, the guys in the truck were professionals all the way. They were kind enough to explain all of their menu items and dealt with the more unruly guests by offering more food. They were just the right presence for a fun evening and I wouldn't hesitate to stop by their truck (or their San Luis Obispo location) for any and all hot dog related cravings.
