Firstly , it's not easy to find a halal hotpot place and this is one of it! Overall great food food and service. The restaurant is huge and has a nice wooden chairs and table decor. It's AYCE hotpot. Each person gets their own personal pot. You get to pick the broth, with selection of 5 soup base to choose from like spicy, peppercorn, original, tomato, fungus and Thai spicy. The meat selection is selected from the robot on wheels rolling around in the store, you get to pick beef, lamb and chicken. You pick the rest of your veggies, seafood , dessert and drinks form the main section. Mid. No sauce at the sauce bar. Its all just toppings no ponzu brisket sauce nothing. Its just garlic peanut chili and some thick paste but no sauce. Only two meat options, lamb/ beef. Upon paying I decided to not tip and the employee was upset and started insulting me, calling me terrible and no good. Bad customer service for Buffet, food refill takes so slow. Our first time there and kind of lost without any explanation. 1. Only has 1 tray of Chicken Katsu and never saw it get refilled during our dining time. 2. Boba Station but Ice keep running out and doesn't get refilled 3. Asked for Meat when our 1st round of meat are almost running out. The server, probably the manager there hesitant to provide and ask if we were going to finish and wasting food. SIR! We just got in! Rude and kind of ruin our entire time there. 4. Had 1 kid 11 yrs old but got charged adult price. 5. Tom yum broth is bad. Just a quick note on the health and safety standards at Halal Street. Unlike some other reviewers' experiences, we didn't notice any issues as far as hygiene, however, we did find ourselves stepping on a number of cables and sockets under the table which are used to power the hot pots. All you can eat hot pot, under 30$ after tip: - there are many sides which you can serve yourself...some were clearly mislabeled too which was annoying...also some dishes didn't even have serving utensils and I had to set up a plate and serving spoon so others and I could serve ourselves... - broths are nice - meat selection is very poor compared to other places...just 1 cut of lamb, beef, and chicken...very average taste wise (did not have the chicken but can't imagine it was any better) and not really tender - the beef in particular was a pain in the ass to deal with, it is frozen directly onto the plate which makes it super tough to get it off without shredding it into pieces...and then talk about trying to snipe the tiny bits out of the broth with the slippery chopsticks...quite annoying, this would happen with the lamb too but much less because they were frozen in rolls making them easier to deal with - taste is average (so still enjoyable in my book) - Did not try any of the Xinjiang food, but they honestly look much more interesting based on what I saw from other tables Service: - disappointing, waiter was not present at all, I had to walk around and find him to ask for more orders...there were only two servers attending to the entire place at the time Ambiance: - pretty nice dining area, no complaints Overall: - pretty good deal, food is pretty average, quite enjoyable time if you are with good company 6/10 for me read more

Decided to try a new hotpot place that took over Lavender. This is still one of the few hotpot places where you get your own individual pot. The format is AYCE, but you choice of meat is beef, chicken or lamb. Beef 2/5: beef is sliced thicker than it should be. It is tough. Not sure what cut of beef it is but I would guess top round. Lamb 3/5: better than the beef but a lot of the trays came out so frozen, that we had to heat the tray on our pot to get the meat off the tray. Lamb was sliced thin and was tender. Chicken 2/5: just ok. Nothing special here. Sauce bar 2/5: they had a variety of ingredients available on the sauce bar, but the one ingredient they lacked was ponzu sauce. This threw me off and did not enjoy it. Vegetable / tofu selection 3/5: they had a good variety but they did not have the fried tofu cubes I normally enjoy with my hot pot. Service was ok, not great. No one came by to offer more water for your hot pot until we flagged someone down. Overall, I don't need to come back. There are better hot pot places with better meat quality. read more

Okay experience, all you can eat hot pot. The broth was solid, I loved the purple sweet potato straight thin slices, as well as the baby bok choy, the beef buns, and the lotus slices. Although I do think the options for what can go in can be better as they didn't have much variety, and lots of things were out. When going to pay, the server made eye contact with me seeing that I needed help and walked away. I think we were there for an hour and some change and not one server checked in on how we were doing. The waitress that's really tall with dark hair is very rude. As I was paying, she outwardly asked me why I was 'leaving a low' tip. I was planning on leaving a cash tip before she said that but I felt so uncomfortable. Mind you I was already planning on tipping but her saying that was so uncomfy and It made me not want to leave a tip. I don't know why people are so comfortable outwardly asking for tips. We like Xinjiang Cuisine, and found out this restaurant a couple weeks ago. We decided to try it out last weekend. The result: We are very disappointed by their food, way below our expectations. We ordered lamb kebab, baked bun, lamb polo, and Xinjiang big plate chicken. The only thing impressed us is the baked bun, which is very delicious. The lamb polo is in poor quality, compared to a nearby Afghanistan restaurant, and the permanently closed Eden Silk Road restaurant in Fremont. The Xinjiang big plate chicken is in poor quality compared to the one severed by Din Ding Dumpling House in Union City. Lamb kebab is just too dry. The skewers we got were great though, and very tender. We also ordered the large size big plate chicken, which was delicious and extremely flavorful. The noodles were wide and flat and the chicken was fall-off-the-bone tender. I would definitely get it again, especially paired with the thick Uyghur bread.
