    L. Sweet & sour seaweed strips (6.99), r. spicy beef (10.99)

ZSX Szechwan Rice Noodle opened where Von's Chicken was. Interior redecorated, tables changed. Offerings: Rice Noodle entrees, appetizers, cold dishes, Rice Noodle hot pot varieties, desserts, snacks, BBQ, combos. Ordered at counter, pd, to go ready in 10 minutes. English & Mandarin spoken. Single associate very efficient. Bites: spicy beef (10.99) -generous serving of cold slices of thin beef shank immersed with rich application of mala chili oil. Tingling, numbing localized sensation in mouth. No burning sensation going down chest cavity. *mala chili oil made from sichuan peppercorns. Sichuan chili oil made from special chili pods-creates burning sensation going down chest cavity. -mala taste so good! Sweet & sour seaweed strips (6.99) -generous portion of fresh, crunchy, green seaweed strips that wasn't sweet & sour. Had nice spicy mala flavas. Also great! May be sourced from seabeds close to shore. 4.5 stars yummy authentic. Hot pot a maybe. Saying on wall: "home made bowl of rice noodles may not be special. The memory of it is.."

Overall this is an okay noodles place. Their noodles definitely have some heat so be careful if you aren't used to spicier foods. The spicy tofu skin appetizer I ordered failed to impress: that was rather bland and turned out to be not spicy at all. Service was pretty quick although it wasn't all that busy.

Everything here is so tasty and authentic, and the portions are huge! Rice noodles are my absolute favorite and I think this might be my new favorite spot in the area! I got their Pickle Pepper House Special Rice Noodles and it was spicy, savory, a little sour, and just packed with so many toppings for added texture. The bowl was also really deep and lasted me two meals. The ingredients are super fresh, the rice noodles are soft, springy and soaked with flavor, + the broth is so flavorful. You can adjust your spice level and they have a small area where you can get sauces/fixings (green onion, cilantro, chilies, chili oil, soy sauce, etc.) to add into your bowl. Also the crispy pork here is 10/10!! And the workers were really sweet & gave us free lemon tea which was the perfect drink for the meal. Everyone who worked here was super patient, helpful, and attentive. They were overall really friendly, and that in combination with the delicious food definitely makes me want to come back. The inside is very spacious and has plenty of seating as well.

Nasty "crispy" pork in my tomato noodles

Ordered their Tomato Crispy Pork Rice Noodles to go. When I got home I realized they put that CRISPY pork in the soup, not gonna lie it was really nasty when that deep fried batter had been sitting in the soup for like 40 minutes, I ate just just because I didn't want to waste food. Other than that the soup base was pretty good, portion is quite generous. To the restaurant owner: consider putting your CRISPY pork on the side for to-go orders.

We came here after a short hike at coyote hills nearby. It was 7pm on a Saturday night, and this place was packed with many families and groups of Chinese speaking people, which was a promising sign that this place had authentic Chinese food. Luckily we didn't wait for long before getting seated As we scanned the QR code on the table to open up the menu for ordering, we realized that about 80+% of the menu items were sold out for the day. The only available items seemed to be four types of house signature rice noodles - original, pickled vegetable, spicy pickled vegetable, and tomato flavored. Each base noodle costs $7.99, and you can choose additional toppings such as tofu, chicken feet, mushroom, and more veggies for ~$2-4. I got the basic spicy pickled vegetable, and was pleasantly surprised that even the basic noodles was pretty big in portion and came with lots of pickled veggies, slices of tomatoes and strands of enoki mushrooms, some spam and pork, and even 2 quail eggs. This was a pretty good deal for $7.99! The broth was szechuan chili oil based and had a good kick from the peppercorn, and the rice noodles were good with the toppings. This was a satisfying meal especially given the price.

Pickled pepper soup and crispy pork. 10/10.

New joint, wife wanted to try, service? Fantastic. Broth? Flayyyyyvorful. Portion? It was like having 4 cup noodles. And there's more topping than noodles. Very clean and very quiet, (arrived right when opened but there were doordash, ubereats, etc picking up orders already). We are for sure coming back to try all that's on the menu. 10/10 would recommend. (Also, hangover cure broth. 100.)

I've bookmarked this place for a while and thought I'll invite my youngest brother to have lunch with me at this restaurant. When we arrived, they had just opened for the day and we were their first customers. As soon as we were seated, we were given 2 cups of cold water. To place our order, we had to scan the QR code that was placed on our table. I ended up ordering the tomato house special rice noodles with crispy pork and my brother ordered the original house special rice noodles with crispy pork. Our noodles arrived pretty quickly after we had sent our order in. In terms of flavor, I thought my soup was delicious. However, the "crispy" pork was no longer crispy when we received it. If you look at my pic, the pork was soaked inside the soup which made it super soggy. My brother said his soup was slightly too peppery for him and he also had the same problem with the pork. The restaurant was clean and since it wasn't busy, service was quick.

I ordered Sauerkraut Prime Beef Rice Noodle,Hand Make Brown Sugar Glutinous Rice Cake, and Sweet Potato Ball with Taro. Soup base was a little bit plain. My expection is sour and a bit spicy. Beed isn't soft enough, kinda tender. Don't add fried egg, because the egg is very oily (and plain taste). I recommend the snacks, which are Hand Make Brown Sugar Glutinous Rice Cake, and Sweet Potato Ball with Taro. Sweet and mochi. I'd like just to order snacks alone. Overall, not bad to try out. If they could improve the soup base, the taste will be more better.

Fantastic food with quick service and fun decorative banners along the walls. We ordered the tofu strip, tomato vegetarian noodles, and hot pot house special. Perfect blend of spicy with Szechuan flavor, but they are serious when they say "spicy"! The handmade lemon tea is also worth ordering. Very new still, but a lot of more people are learning about this place so visit soon if you haven't already!

I really wanted to like this place. We were actually craving Szechuan Mifen and very excited to try ZSX. However, there were too many gaps for me to give it a higher score. There are some positives! The service was nice and attentive on a busy evening. My table even had a bit of a Karen and the staff handled her really well. They gave out free Iced Tea to every table which was perfect for a spicy meal. The presentation with the old school pot and wooden spoon was a nice touch. Very photogenic! Unfortunately, the food and ambiance is where things go downhill. It's just not a comfortable place to be. The tables are small and the place is crowded. They don't have chairs, so everyone sits on stools. Kinda feels like a cafeteria. The Mifen was honestly disappointing. Way too oily and the broth wasn't very flavorful . It was just spicy without any depth. They didn't have cilantro or green onion, which is pretty much mandatory for this type of dish. They also have very traditional toppings which is fine, but they are charging $15+ for a bowl of really humble ingredients (Pork skin, intestines, liver and feet). This is usually my cup of tea, but I ended up leaving my bowl mostly uneaten.

Came here during opening week and I must say the food is underwhelming at best. Taste reminds me of top ramen and the value just isn't there; I literally got about 4 pieces of meat and I had to dig around to try to find them. Take a look at the photos. Note the photo of the spicy pot includes two add-ons that cost $8 extra. Does this not look like something you can make at home by just throwing a pack of ramen and some ingredients into a pot? I am disappointed. 3 stars only because there was an opening week discount, but otherwise I would not pay full price ($16 base, add-ons are about $4 extra each) for this..

Don't let the fair pricing fool you, it is a really nice restaurant!! The interior is incredibly clean & well maintained, it's a whole experience having dinner there. After dinner (if you have children, this is key) they give you a scoop of ice cream, which is included with your dinner / lunch. I took my little daughter there once, for lunch, during daddy-daughter day. She REALLY enjoyed it. They have great meat options & the noodles, vegetables, etc - you go grab yourself, buffet style. So you go load a plate with whatever you'd like to add to your cook pot, along with the meat. They have little soft boiled quail eggs that you can add to your pot - HIGHLY recommend!! They have, if I recall, 4 or 5 different soup bases to choose from. I've had three thus far & they have all been incredibly good. PLEASE NOTE - the spicy one is no joke, I am a spicy food connoisseur & I will admit, even on my "0-10" scale, that red spicy soup base was easily an 8. Interestingly enough albeit very spicy, the red soup base has excellent flavor; in other words it's not just pure pain & terror & capsaicin overdose... It's spicy AND very flavorful. Give these guys a try!! We will definitely be returning, although this has to be more of a quarterly thing. As eating hot pot with little kids is NOT easy for parents - constantly making sure they don't spill boiling soup on themselves. What we did was asked for a bowl / plate; so we could serve the children the various meats, noodles, vegetables after they were cooked... Also to prevent the children from sticking spoons into a vigorously boiling pot. (SAFETY NOTE - the cook pots are directly in the table, built-in cooktops. So be vigilant with small children. The wait staff will give you a tutorial on how to increase/decrease the heat on the burner and/or how to shut it off when you're done cooking. Aside from my concern of the children burning themselves, it is an EXCELLENT experience for kids nevertheless).

We were led to our seats and once we were given the menu, we started studying it meticulously. I got the HINODEYA "House" Ramen, my wife got the Beef Bowl "Gyudon", and our friend got a ramen with katsu in it. They asked me if I wanted my ramen mild, medium or hot in spiciness. I went with the medium option. I enjoyed my ramen. The broth was well made but I didn't notice much difference between the wheat noodle they've used versus normal noodle used in other shops. The portion was not big for its price and I was about 80% full from the bowl. When I tasted a bite of my wife's beef bowl, boy was I disappointed. They added way too much sauce and honestly I can't say this dish is good. The beef wasn't cut in the traditional way in how a gyudon should be and it turned out a little bit thicker which is a little weird for me. I would compared it to a Yoshinoya and the irony is that I actually like the beef bowl from Yoshinoya better at half the price? lol. Our friend shared a little bit of her katsu with us and we thought it was way too dry. Perhaps it's been sitting at the heat lamp for way too long... Overall, what I feel about Hinodeya is that they've definitely have some unique ideas in their dishes but the execution and consistency still needs to be worked on. I noticed that there were 4 different spicy level and I was a little curious as to what they were. It wasn't until I asked the waiter that they explained them to us. I was a little puzzled because this seems to be what they wanted to push but we just weren't told to us in our visit until way later... It's a 50/50 whether I'll come back or not. I think there are definitely improvements for a good ramen spot that people would crowd upon in the bay area for sure.
