I recently had several problems all at once. Dr. Dennis Rigosa is the most skilled, empathic, artistic in his ability to create my retainer for example of a front tooth that was removed for an implant that has my missing tooth painted in to the exact shade of my other teeth. I never heard of this until I had a serious problem with my front tooth, unrelated. He then created a night guard. Not just any night guard. I have had them for decades. They are awful to wear. Like a girdle. I used soft guards they were more comfortable but not effective. This night guard for TMJ and clinching is actually the most comfortable one I have ever had. It has an iridescent look. Not ugly like all the rest. Now he is helping me with a crown for my molar that cracked in four due to previous clinching. Zero pain! Total comfort with my temporary. After decades I found the best of the best. He has helped me with TMJ which is another skill of his. The front office always has several people there so I never ever wait with questions. Love this dentist office! This is a dental practice with a two dentist team. You can get an appointment with either Dr. Brent or Dr. Susan Hale I honestly don't know at this point who "my" Dentist is, whether it's Brent or Susan Hale. I've seen both and they're both fantastic. Their front desk staff is helpful and professional. All of the hygienists are great. Because they have two dentists and multiple hygienists I've never had any difficulty getting appointments here. They also offer early morning appointments which is HUGE, especially if you work. So I'm usually able to go to the dentist early and not have to miss work. I've had several night-guards made here and Dr. Brent has always been extremely helpful with ensuring that I had a good fit and the night-guard was doing what it was supposed to be doing. There is parking under the building, but it is independent from the dentist office and you do have to pay. It is a cash only lot and unfortunately the dentist office doesn't validate. It's a little bit of a bummer that it's located in Santa Monica which (for us) is difficult to get to, but I think that's even more of a testament to how much we like going here, that we're willing to make the drive. Seriously love this dentist office. Can't recommend them enough! read more

A big disappointment. There are plenty of dentists in the area who genuinely care about people--Brent Hale isn't one of them. I had been going to this practice for many years. I started with Dr. Susan Hale and subsequently, was assigned to her husband, Brent, who isn't as good because I've had problems with work he's done in my mouth. Unfortunately, in 2019, I temporarily left the state to care for a relative who had been diagnosed with terminal cancer. I moved back in July and recently made an appointment to visit this office to have a cleaning, X-rays and pending work done. However, I received a call today telling me that "they assumed I went elsewhere and closed my file" and basically I wasn't welcomed back. We all know what assumptions do...they make a**es out of people. This was definitely a Brent Hale decision since he walks around the office with a ginormous ego, albeit his wife is the more competent and caring dentist. Upon my return to Los Angeles two months ago, I haven't received this type of treatment from any of my other long-term physicians, i.e., UCLA Primary Care, Optometrist and ENT-- only Brent Hale. It's been a difficult two-and-a-half years for me, not to mention the ongoing pandemic, but I came back to a dentist who made unfounded assumptions instead of picking up the phone. Further, Brent Hale is older, so I expected a higher level of professional aptitude. Maya Angelou pinned a famous quote, "When people show you who they are the first time, believe them." Apparently, all the niceties over the years were insincere. Not one time over the last 2+ years did I receive a call from Brent Hale or office personnel inquiring about my well-being since I hadn't been back to the office. This is who Brent Hale is...fake and disingenuous. And such behavior is petty, unprofessional and sad. After what I've been through these last 2+ years, I will gladly take my money elsewhere. Life is too short to deal with crappy and disingenuous people or situations. I've moved on, but not without having my say and holding Brent Hale responsible for two crowns he inserted 7-10 years ago that have been sensitive and sore intermittently ever since--should my new dentist find a problem with them. read more

Honestly, the best dentist I have been to hands down. I had always had bad experiences with various dentists before, namely dentists that would lie to me about needing crowns, additional fillings, or other procedures. Finding a dentist that is honest and isn't trying to scam you is not easy. Dr. Hale's office and staff are all professionals that can be trusted. I had seen another dentist who told me that I needed a few crowns and had about 10 cavities to fill. I came to Dr. Hale to get a second opinion. He reassured me that I did not need any crowns, and although I did have a few cavities, I did not have 10! Whew. Not only that, even though he only accepts PPO (from my understanding) he was able to give VERY reasonable cash prices for procedures to be done. His cash price was even less than what the other dentist was saying my copay would be with my HMO plan! Most importantly, what I find pleasing about this office is the level of customer satisfaction and professionalism all staff members exercise. The hygienists, front desk staff, and the dentist himself makes you feel welcome and treat you with care. When you sign in, they have water bottles in the waiting room. They provide headphones as well if you want to tune out the drilling during your procedures. Not to mention, they do such a great job of numbing you and administering the shot before your fillings. Although it is never pleasant, this is the best that it can be. Very gentle! If you are looking for a dentist, this is your best bet in the west LA area. You can park in the lot downstairs (cash only) or metered street parking. read more

When my previous dentist retired, he referred me to Drs. Brent and Susie Hale as he told me that they work in the same way and have the same values. I am very pleased with the care and treatment I have received. Dr. Susie replaced an old crown that came out and her work looks good and has never given me a problem. When she was out of the office once, I needed emergency treatment and Dr. Brent saw me immediately and arranged for me to see an endodontist that same day. The referral to endodontist, Richard Rauth, DDS, was also excellent. Debra is my hygienist and she is supercalifragilistic! I've no complaint about the professional, state-of-the-art, exceptionally sensitive-to-my-anxieties dental care I received from Dr. Susan Hale and her team of 1st rate and friendly dental assistants. On that score, you are in good hands and I recommend. I'm simply bummed that I will no longer be availing myself of the office's primo dental care because of the snide and obsequiously rude treatment and behavior directed at me by a member of the desk/reception staff. I've visited the office on two occasions, and a red flag should have gone off when, both times, the receptionist in question glared at me as I entered the office--with nary a smile, hello, or greeting of any sort---until she caught sight of my partner, a longtime patient of the dentist, and ergo, a familiar face. This was followed by a dutifully officious interaction not at all on par with her interactions with my partner or other waiting room patients. Although I took notice and was bothered by it, my anxious feelings about the dental visit itself took precedence in my mind, and I let it pass. On my second and final visit six months later, not only did the same reception individual "greet" me in a manner similar to before (stony silence and a glare very close to a glower, until my partner came into view), but later in the visit when she was speaking to my partner about an appointment, she misunderstood a question I posed to my partner as being one directed at her, and in doing so, responded in an unnecessarily brusque, condescending way before shifting into a kind of robotically dismissive politeness no one...on the surface...could find fault with. No apology or acknowledging of the misunderstanding. So, alas, that will be my last visit. The exceptional dental care I received isn't worth dealing with whatever problem that particular staff member has with me. I stress the "me" part because it all felt so personally directed, I doubt that everyone will have the same experience. I should mention I'm Black, my partner is white, and one never knows if this plays into the disparity of our experience with the desk staff. And in the end, when one is met by subtly discourteous behavior from the first person encountered in an office, perhaps trying to parse out the source doesn't really matter, because the feeling of being unwelcome is the same. But the nagging issue of racial bias (its invisibility to all but those to whom it's directed, has always been its power) arises when one sits in the waiting room, never to witness said receptionist behaving in a similarly cool manner with any other patient...the inevitable question pops into mind: was it because no other patient has been a Black male? read more

I have been under the care of Dr Brent for two years now. He and his extremely competent assistant, Pasty LDA., are undoubtably, the best in the business. They have worked as a team for 28 years. They are efficient and professional. I rarely feel any pain, and always leave the office in a good mood. When they work on my mouth they are constantly cracking jokes, and sharing stories with each other. Her assistant hygienist Stephanie is her partner in crime and they are an amazing team. I really cannot recommend them enough. I called, spoke with Dawn, explained my needs and what I was looking for in a dentist. I am looking for a new dentist near my house with basic sanitary conditions and reasonable costs. I have found it is hard to find a good dentist for whatever reason. I asked a friend who he uses (since he is a doctor) for his family. He said Hale and Hale is "OK, but have all the usual dentist scams going on." So I was satisfied to simply find a "satisfactory" dentist if close to my house and if they were indeed satisfactory. I have been coming here for over ten years now and was referred by a friend of mine. My dental hygienist is Debra and she is great. Why? Because she knows I'm neurotic about my health and is always willing to answer any questions I have (if she doesn't know the answer, she will say so) and how I can improve my teeth and lessen my plaque/tartar build-up. I'm 56 and only have two cavities (both of which I got before I turned 30) and I give Debra a lot of credit for helping me maintain my smile. It also helps that I go every three months for a cleaning (yes, I don't have dental insurance so it does drain the pocketbook) but let's face it, it's better to spend money on ensuring the health of my teeth because as we all know: "be true to your teeth or they will be false to you." read more

After moving to the Woodland Hills several years back, I thought the drive to Santa Monica was too far for my ongoing dental care. I started my quest for a new dentist and tried out at least four in my area. I didn't realize how great Dr. Hale truly is until my search came up miserably short. I had mediocre to terrible experiences at other offices, even having several other dentist tell me I had up to 18 cavities! I knew it couldn't be true. I went back to Dr. Hale for a second opinion and he assured me that I was fine and didn't need to have any fillings. What a relief! Dr. Hale is one of the most honest dentists I've ever met and is always cheerful and upbeat. I've decided on Dr. Hale as my primary dentist and his practice is worth the drive. Deborah is a great hygienist too, always very gentle and thorough in her cleaning. I Grew up In England with notoriously bad dental practices, And also did 4 years in the US Air Force with equally bad work, and still always loved going because you are supposed to come out of the dental office better than you went in... For 27 years of my life (since I was 6, and until 10 years ago) I have not had a good dentist until I found Hale and Hale. This is by far the best dentist I have ever been to and they are just plain fantastic. I have had maybe 15 dentists in my life and this office is amazing and the work they do is top tier. Not only all that but it's basically a totally painless visit, on your mouth, in your head and in your wallet. Love, Love, Love this Dental office and all the staff. Today marked my fourth visit with Dr. Hale in less than a year and DAMN am I glad he was recommended to me. Each time I return to the office the staff is friendly, fast, and professional. I actually look forward to getting taken care of by someone I can trust and enjoy talking to (when there's not an electric drill in my mouth...). I've never had any trouble booking an appointment, but you should plan for about a week or so to make arrangements. They offer very reasonable payment plans and have been immensely accommodating with their services.
