First of all ! This place is amazing !!!! The size of their catfish is mind blowing!!!!! Jammed pack with flavor and so so fresh. The service was quick and friendly. I briefly spoke with the owner and thanked him for his meal ! lol it was that good. I ordered the fried shrimp, catfish, mac n cheese and fried pickles. For my little one, i ordered the 2 pc combo chicken tenders and French fries. Soooo much flavor is every bite !!! This place is a little price I will definitely be returning.

We came here for the first time and WOW this place did not disappoint! I ordered the 2-piece chicken tenders with double mac n' cheese and toast with their famous crack sauce. We also added a catfish fillet on the side. My husband went big with the 7-piece tenders, fries, mac n' cheese, toast, and crack sauce. For drinks, we tried the mango lemonade and watermelon lemonade. The portions were beyond generous everything was so delicious that we couldn't even finish, though we definitely tried! The chicken was crispy, juicy, and cooked with care, and the mac n' cheese was rich and comforting. The service was just as amazing as the food. I've seen some reviews mention the wait time, but honestly, the 20-25 minutes was more than worth it. Everything is cooked fresh to order, and you can taste the love and soul in every bite. As someone who used to work at a soul food spot in Las Vegas, I can say this place is the real deal authentic flavor, great portions, and a warm vibe. We'll definitely be back next week!

Excellent fresh squeezed lemonade! Just about the best Mac and cheese I've had. Love all the homemade sauces, especially the ranch which has fresh dill in it. This place is an unsuspecting delicious find.

I had the opportunity to visit Hale's Kitchen during their "soft opening" on Tuesday (02 August). Since it was just a soft opening, they were running with a limited menu. I chose to order the Shrimp Po'boy and fried pickle slices. I thought the po'boy was excellent. Everything from the hoagie roll to the fried shrimp, and the delicious sauce used in the po'boy was great! Unfortunately, I thought the fried pickles were a little soggy. I'm hoping that was a result of being in a new space and not having everything set up yet. We'll see if they can get it right after the Grand Opening this Friday (05 August). I am looking forward to seeing the new Hale's Kitchen up and running full steam ahead. It looks like they have a great little space. They even have a bar alcove in work in the back of the restaurant. When I asked about it I was told that the bar will open, but probably not in time for the Grand Opening.

Really good, consistent quality, generous portions. When this place opened I knew it was going to be good. They had some major issues in the beginning as most restaurants do but the food has been consistently great. This is some of the best macaroni and cheese I've had from a restaurant and the chicken is always well seasoned and consistent. They always add extra pieces to the generous portions. Really glad this place found its footing.

The chicken is really delicious, perfectly cooked and seasoned!! Best fried chicken in town! Fried pickles, okra, and home style Mac n cheese are the sides we tried and all were fabulous. Today we had the opportunity to dine in, with a large group of 40 or so, and the service was impeccable, fast, friendly, and so very welcoming. Everyone got their food in a timely manner, and everything was perfect. Having had Hales food before by takeout, (and loving it) eating at the restaurant was another level of delicious!!! We also got to try the beignets today, and WOW those little pillows of greatness were a treat. Highly recommend. This place is great, cozy, clean, and friendly.

I had to use up my Grubhub credit and there weren't many options in Oak Harbor so I decided to just take a chance and try this place out... tandoori vegetables, can't screw that up too much right? It... wasn't tandoori. Nothing seemed cooked in an oven, it was just some cooked veggies with a sauce on top. The sauce was pretty tasty but nevertheless the dish was not what I was hoping to get. The chef was kind and did help me wrap up my order. Also same issue with ordering as other reviews, Grubhub said order went through and confirmed, restaurant called me 15 min later and said they had a weird order come in with no location for delivery, but I had ordered pick-up. It ended up being ready 30 min later but just super confusing. Their delivery system doesn't seem to work well, I'm not sure what the issue is, if it's related to Grubhub/Doordash, but seems to be consistently happening. Would call to confirm if you do place an order.

Affordable lunch burger and a beer? Yup. Fancy date night romantic dinner with craft cocktails? Heck yeah. Combining a casual, marine-themed ambiance with quaint La Conner vibes, and adding in some truly delish food and drink, there are few places in the area I'd rather eat. My favorite here is their bouillabaisse, with big pieces of fish, half a fresh Dungeness crab, sausage, and all the goodness cooked in their house-made broth. All I can say is: try it. Their raw oysters are also a favorite, but I can't say I've ever had a bad dish here. One time I swung out and tried their pork chop, which was truly sent from heaven. Their wine list contains several affordable options - on one visit our group enjoyed two bottles of an exquisite rose. And if gin is in your repertoire, don't miss the Empress Aviation which is not only pretty to look at, but quite tasty as well. Their happy hour features incredible drink and appy discounts, including half price bottles of wine. And I'd be remiss not to mention their friendly, lovely service. We always feel special when we visit. What's not to love about The Fork? I'm officially hungry now!

Such a gorgeous spot to stop…read moreand get a bite to eat or head upstairs to their cocktail lounge and just relax a day away. The vibes inside are immaculate as a kind of barnyard chic and the pizza topping combos are hyperlocal and fascinatingly unique you have to give them a try. Unfortunately my first time trying a pizza place must always be a simple cheese pizza so that's what I ended up with this time. The crust is cooked a little extra charred which can work well as long as the dough is moist enough, oiled well, and the pizza has enough flavor overall to balance it out. I wouldn't say that was the case here but I think there are many, particular NY/NJ/CT area folks who might prefer this style. Overall the pizza was just OK for me, a bit too dry from the extra cooktime/char and maybe dough hydration, the sauce not being as refreshing and bright as I like, the cheese as bursting with creamy milkiness as I want on these types of pies. But it still hits the spot and I'm happy I stopped here at such a cool little spot on such a great island. But for Whidbey Island pizza I'll probably stick with Village Pizzaria for now. Who knows, I didn't get to try the cocktails here so may need to come back for that. I did also get a smoked carrot dish that was a bit underwhelming for how cool it sounded, just a bit too much acid and fat without a lot of spice and flavor to balance everything out. Still may come back for the dinner-only pastas, I'm simply too intrigued by the chic menu recipes and chillaxing vibes here.

(And they had a nice, covered outdoor patio seating area, where our dogs were welcome!) However, we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food! They do have beer and pizza -- but we opted for the salad (healthy) and the Pork Belly (perhaps not so much). Both were five-star delicious! And the view from the patio is also pretty darn nice. We'll be going back!
