We decided to try this upstairs restaurant and were delighted to experience the nightlife of this area. The restaurant had live music and many tables facing the marina with the nice breezes from the water making for a welcome relief from the warm evening air at this open air establishment. Unfortunately no air conditioning here. The food was great although everything is expensive but it was worth the experience and is to be expected on an island trip I suppose. I ordered stuffed shrimp w crab meat and a side of garlic mash. The portion wasn't huge but it was filling and tasty. Although the potatoes weren't overly seasoned and a bit bland not having enough garlic flavor but the side was attractively dressed. The shrimp came w a side of asparagus and hollandaise sauce which added a nice rich flavor. We ate and lingered a while to listen to the live music and enjoy the breezes and ambience. read more

Mostly amazing. Except I like to sit at the bar. And one of the bartenders that works a lot just ignores me. And it's not just me - at first I thought it was but nope... Not even an acknowledgment. No menu (so no food). Finally, a beer! And still no menu.., Trying to make eye contact and - not going to happen. Why does she hate me??? That being said, I keep coming in and there are other bartenders that take good care of me. The food is very good. So is the service except for, well... So giving more stars than I feel like I probably should be giving as I sit here being ignored. And maybe she just didn't get basic training which wouldn't be her fault. 1 star for the Miso Cod special on Father's Day. Miso Cod or butterfish invokes images and flavors of a simple, pure umami dish. And it was a beautiful piece of butterfish in a miso broth, BUT it was covered with chunks of crunchy green and red bell peppers, potatoes, onions and tomatoes (?) that appeared to have been tossed onto the plate without thought of presentation; not at all pleasing to the eye. The array of veggies were totally unrelated to miso or butterfish. It was a huge disappointment. read more

It is now bright with new furniture and a new concept. Do not expect the "Charthouse" menu. The menu is now designed with a local and island faire That said, some menu items remain the same. The steak and seafood are what you would remember of the original Charthouse. They now serve brunch. With a main brunch entrée comes a mimosa on the house. We started with drinks, they have a great selection of all alcohol and some great original cocktails. I had a yuzu drink that was splendid! Then we shared the small seafood tower...it was plenty for 4 of us as an appetizer. It had all sorts of cooked and fresh seafood, a true splurge. I had the Ahi Mignon, a wonderfully fresh block of Ahi that was prepared with a wonderful sauce and seared just right...raw inside. Mom had the lamb chops, which were cooked medium to perfection. The creme brulee had the crispy crust and a soft creamy center. Our server was wonderful, very busy but always had time to dote on us. This is one of the few places that has that seafaring/Trader Vic's ambiance left in Hawaii. Just like the old Spencecliff Restaurants in Hawaii in the 70's and 80's, it brings back nostalgia. Went for dinner with my family and the servers were very accommodating when it came to our family needing to move tables for the baby in our group. The ribeye and prime steak were delicious. The edamame was supposed to be salted but didn't have any so we added our own. The restrooms did not have a changing table which made having a baby with us rough. Since my last visit, the Chart House began having nightly Hawaiian musicians perform. The first time I went a couple months ago,had a great time. However, tonight went with a friend and had terrible customer service. Our server, a Polynesian looking lady dressed in what looked like spandex workout clothes, was very inattentive and seemed to have a bad attitude towards us for no reason. We complained to the manager, which only resulted in the server coming to our table and telling us how rude we were to her, so we deserved whatever treatment we got. I was very interested in seeing a musician perform this coming Wednesday, however, I am not going to patronize this establishment anymore, even though it's right across the street from my condominium. Really loved this restaurant! Came right when it opened for brunch! Brunch had a special for free mimosas with entree purchases so we got a couple and got to choose fun flavors! The short rib loco moco was recommended to me and I loved it! It melted in your mouth and I loved how orange the egg yolks were (you can order eggs cooked how you want, I just like a runny yolk). The coconut pancakes were also amazing. Full of flavor and perfect overlooking marina. Our server was really helpful and had great advice. Chart House is a great restaurant located a block away from Hilton Hawaiian Village, with a nice view of the marina in front of it. Our party enjoyed each of our meals, I wish I had more pictures of how well-presented the food was. I was on a non-stop rave about my Ahi Mignon from the moment I had it to now; I've never had anything like it. The restaurant also starts you off with fresh bread. A couple of the people with me got the crab cakes and loved them, as well as the scallop and shrimp scampi. The food is the pricey side as it is in Waikiki, but the food is very fresh and very well made. The staff greeted us when we walked in and when we left, and were always refilling our water. Our server was Kris who was not only personable, but knowledgeable of each dish and various sides that you can choose to go with your meal. We stopped here on the recommendation of a local. We were struggling to find a restaurant that sold fresh fish... someone said "chart house!" So we came... honestly, this was the best meal we have had on the island. I was blown away to see the bad reviews on yelp. The food was out of this world. So this was my first meal during my return to Hawaii. I'm a sucker for a nice view and live music and this spot had both. I was quickly seated near a patio and had my drink order taken. ON 2/31/2025 our family kicked off our NYE celebrations with dinner at The Chart House Waikiki. It was a winner! Table was ready on time. As requested we got a harbor view. Service was very timely, attentive and friendly. I had the local Cod butter fish and it was perfectly seasoned with a lemon beurre blanc, juicy and succulent. Our grown kids had the 3 course menu with rock cod, one had Ahi and the other rack of lamb. The lamb was a little tough. The sea bass was best ever and the ahi was perfectly prepared. The bananas foster cheesecake was sweet and very tasty. The mud pie was huge and we wiped it out but wished it was more traditional with hot fudge and nuts. We left very full and happy to walk the mile back to the hotel for a little exercise. This is a great place to dine for a special evening on your vacation! read more

We also ordered oysters and they were my favorite, creamy, flavorful, not too oceanic. We also ordered the calamari and it was cooked well, not rubbery. I ordered the braised prime short ribs with beans and a side of mashed potatoes. You get quite a bit of meat, enough for two, in my opinion, same with the potatoes so keep that in mind, especially if you're going to eat pupus. The meat was tender and the sauce was good but a little chunky. I tried my partner's butterfish and it was flaky and mild. Our server was quite attentive. Wow. Just wow. The miso butterfish (black cod) special absolutely blew me away. I usually don't order fish on the mainland unless I'm at a Chinese restaurant because most places overcook it, but not here. The fish was cooked perfect and the sauce was phenomenal. Rarely do I say this but this special blew me away. Michael our server suggested this (I was between the special and the macadamia nut crusted mahi mahi and he said I'd like the miso butterfish) and he was 100% spot on. If the miso butterfish is available, get it. I also got the peach mocktail and it was very tasty. Mac salad and mashed potatoes as sides were also delicious. Highly recommend this spot. It was definitely a busy night as the restaurant was quite full. I ordered the garlic shrimp which didn't come with as much as I would have liked but they were pretty big. I enjoyed that the most out of everything we had. I also tried the special of the night which was a butter fish in a miso sauce. It was nice and tender but the flavor was too sweet for my liking. Our server was very friendly but it was hard to flag people down for simple things like refilling our drinks. First time back to the Charthouse in years. They just finished their face lift and the restaurant looks great. Still the same set up but everything is new. We had reservations in the bar during happy hour to listen to the live music. This place is kind of crazy busy during happy hour. The regular menu here is pretty pricey but during happy hour the pups menu lists a wide variety of plates priced at about $13. So, if it is getting close to 6:00 all of the tables start ordering a lot of plates so the kitchen gets swamped. We had a couple of orders we cancelled because they forgot to bring them. The food is good and the music on this particular night was excellent. Seems to be a regular hangout for some of the patrons. Parking without validation is $5/hour. I paid $5 total but some friends ended up paying $25 even with validation. I will return. read more

This was one of those experiences where the setting tries to carry the entire meal, and unfortunately, it doesn't quite succeed. The food was very underwhelming. Bland across the board. The lamb was cooked properly, but lacked any real flavor, which made it forgettable. My father's short rib was bad enough that he sent it back entirely and settled for a salad that honestly looked like something prepackaged from a grocery store. The cheesecake was fine, but nothing memorable. The one redeeming factor was the view, we had a great look at the fireworks, which definitely helped salvage the evening. That said, our table was right next to scaffolding, which made it feel like the place was mid-construction. Given the high prices, the overall experience just doesn't justify the cost. You're paying for the location, not the food, and even that comes with caveats. I wouldn't go back. read more

Side note: Even if you come during happy hour, you can't order from the happy hour menu unless you're sitting at the bar. Not exactly welcoming. Unfortunately, the food took forever to arrive, and when it finally did, everything was lukewarm at best. I ordered the French onion soup, which used to be my favorite dish on their menu. This time, it was a total letdown. The cheese was melted, but the soup itself was cold. The crouton was soggy and a blob of mush, and the presentation was totally unappetizing. I wish I had taken a picture to show just how sad it looked. We also ordered the poke nachos and that was a complete disaster. One bite and all I could taste was an overwhelming amount of mayonnaise and gooey teriyaki sauce. The chips were soggy and chewy, like they'd been sitting out for days. We let the waiter know, and he kindly offered to replace it with fresh chips and the sauce on the side. Unfortunately, the second batch was even worse. We ended up picking off the fish on top, but even that was mushy and flavorless. Big fail. To their credit, the waiter was very apologetic and had the dish removed from our bill. But still, the entire meal left a bad taste in our mouths, literally and figuratively. Now, let's talk about the bill. If you have a party of six or more, they automatically tack on a 22% gratuity. Seriously? This is not a fine dining experience by any stretch. We normally tip 20% for excellent food and service, but 22% for this? Ridiculous. And to make matters worse, they don't accept Landry's gift cards, even if the card says it's accepted at Chart House on it. Apparently, this location is privately owned. Super lame and misleading. We're all about supporting local businesses, but this is one place we absolutely will not be supporting again. Major disappointment from start to finish. Since reopening, I have been to Chart House two nights back to back for happy hour. It was just that good. They have two pau hanas, which is amazing: 330-6p and 9-midnight. Both times I went late at night with some friends and ate a little bit of everything. The portion sizes are large and the price cannot be beat. The edamame is also the perfect mix of chili and sweet. I have absolutely nothing bad to say about the food so far. I even accidentally ordered the zucchini and was so grateful that I did because I finished everything. Food can be paired with $10 wine/beer/cocktail specials. The kitchen moves fast and so do the waiters. Parking is always easy in the harbor to top it all off. I do hope that they continue to keep this up because it can be a great option if you're looking for a late night drink with some views or even coming to watch the sunset. We went for happy hour and it was really packed! We were seated by the bar and the servers were pretty friendly! We ordered their happy hour items, including their pork ribs, escargot, oysters and baked oyster. The pork ribs was pretty tasty and their baked oysters was good too! Their fresh oysters, though wasn't as fresh as I thought it would be, but still pretty good! Their escargot was definitely the highlight of our meal. It was tasty and not too oily! We also got their dragonfruit cocktail and it was really fresh, but I can tell it was a bit watered down. The view is awesome. The menu is overpriced and the food was mediocre. My wife and I had the clam chowder and my wife said it was good and I thought it was ok because we've had better. I have a hard time paying $65 for a steak when I can smoke one at home for ¼ of that price. My wife also had the house salad with grilled chicken. She said the chicken was dry and they gave you zero choice on dressing. Our group also shared fried calamari which was tough and stringy. Calamari is very sensitive to being overcooked. Overall, none of us were impressed with the food. The service was almost too good. He tried to take one of our groups glass that still had 1/2 finger of whiskey in it. They were definitely quick to clear your dishes almost to the point of it being too aggressive. We definitely won't be back. read more
