Happy hour food-meh
Robert S.

Since my last visit, the Chart House began having nightly Hawaiian musicians perform. The first time I went a couple months ago,had a great time. However, tonight went with a friend and had terrible customer service. Our server, a Polynesian looking lady dressed in what looked like spandex workout clothes, was very inattentive and seemed to have a bad attitude towards us for no reason. We complained to the manager, which only resulted in the server coming to our table and telling us how rude we were to her, so we deserved whatever treatment we got. I was very interested in seeing a musician perform this coming Wednesday, however, I am not going to patronize this establishment anymore, even though it's right across the street from my condominium. The food is mediocre and the service horrible.

Food was terrible. Salmon was dry and overcooked, I had the Chilean sea bass. It was tough overcooked and chewy. Mash potatoes were cold. Green beans overcooked and soggy. Waiter was very slow. The only positive was the atmosphere was great. Table right out on the street. Overlooking the marina. Prices were high as well. I'm from California and I thought their prices were high. It's a real turnoff when you're paying top dollar and getting marginal service and food.

Coconut pancakes!

Really loved this restaurant! Came right when it opened for brunch! Brunch had a special for free mimosas with entree purchases so we got a couple and got to choose fun flavors! The short rib loco moco was recommended to me and I loved it! It melted in your mouth and I loved how orange the egg yolks were (you can order eggs cooked how you want, I just like a runny yolk). The coconut pancakes were also amazing. Full of flavor and perfect overlooking marina. Our server was really helpful and had great advice. The restaurant itself had a lot of fun character and still up to date. Makes sense to me why this is a staple of downtown!

My family and I went there to celebrate my dad's birthday. Staff were very kind, they made sure our waters were filled quickly and our food on time. I really enjoyed the short rib that I ordered with the garlic mash potatoes and green beans. At the end, we got ourselves a slice of the cheesecake for desert. Our server (I forgot his name but it was Hawaiian and I think it had an apostrophe after the second letter) was good and funny. Hopefully we can comeback again.

Came here for a little date. Immediately was seated by a sweet server. Got our drinks fast and it was still happy hour and that was plenty for us! Everything was tasty and feeling and their mai tai is bomb! They were about to start live music too. I can tell they have a lot of regulars and I just like the vibe here~

The atmosphere and ambience of the restaurant we happen to come in on an afternoon with leaf as the bartender. We were here for two hours, and he did not smile once he seemed extremely agitated and upset that he had to work. Christian was very happy and friendly and ready to make our experience fun. Drinks were great and food amazing! We really enjoyed ourselves!!

Creme Brulee

Pre wedding celebration dinner with friends. The restaurant was very busy and having to climb the stairs wasn't expected As an appetizer I ordered the shrimp. They were cooked perfectly and quite large! The lobster tail was incredible! It was steamed perfectly and was served with garlic mashed potatoes and vegetables. Everything was delicious The crème brulee was a bit mediocre. It was cold, solid and not very creamy. The top was not caramelized. Overall a good experience

Happy Hour Kimchi calamari with the sauces on the side

Let me put you on to the happy hour at the Chart House, Honolulu. Been going here since I was a kid! And I'm so grateful that even with a shift in ownership, the classic dishes like the stuffed mushrooms, escargo and black and blue ahi are still heavy hitters on this menu. But pro tip is ordering the happy hour kimchi calamari. For those who are purists with their calamari, ask for the sauces on the side and squeeze the fresh lemon on top. Leave the sauces for dipping if you so choose. Comes on a bed of tempura veg and is just such a mountain of fun we highly recommend.

Shrimp, avocado and mango stack app

Newly renovated. Best thing I can say. Good views of the Ala Wai harbor. Menu is definitely pricey even for Honolulu. Most entrees 40-70 and they don't include a side. How do you like your $14 fries add on? Or $13 asparagus? There's no reason a restaurant that charges $70 a steak can't throw a few cents worth of veggies and starch on the plate!!!! I had shrimp, avocado and mango stack app for $29. No effort in terms of flavor. All 3 ingredients were fresh but all beg for something. Definitely some salt. Very bland. Staff was inattentive. Never checked on me. Took forever to get their attention even at the bar. They were too busy chatting with each other. Also was an off shift staff member at the bar that was too drunk and very obnoxious. Will not be back in spite of its proximity to where I generally stay.

So this was my first meal during my return to Hawaii. I'm a sucker for a nice view and live music and this spot had both. I was quickly seated near a patio and had my drink order taken. I got the oyster as an appetizer and it was not what I was looking for and/or expecting. Definitely would not order it again. For my main, I got the steak and it was amazing. Right temp, good mash potatoes, and crisp asparagus. All in all it was a great meal and I would definitely be back when I'm in Waikiki.

I came here for dinner with a group of friends. The restaurant looks a bit on the older side but it's right by the water and there was live music playing. It was definitely a busy night as the restaurant was quite full. I ordered the garlic shrimp which didn't come with as much as I would have liked but they were pretty big. I enjoyed that the most out of everything we had. I also tried the special of the night which was a butter fish in a miso sauce. It was nice and tender but the flavor was too sweet for my liking. Our server was very friendly but it was hard to flag people down for simple things like refilling our drinks. It was a nice dinner but with how pricey everything is I definitely think you can get better food elsewhere in Waikiki.

Located right on the harbor, close to affordable paid parking and in an open air building. My party ordered a few drinks like Mai Tais and they were good. We also ordered oysters and they were my favorite, creamy, flavorful, not too oceanic. We also ordered the calamari and it was cooked well, not rubbery. I ordered the braised prime short ribs with beans and a side of mashed potatoes. You get quite a bit of meat, enough for two, in my opinion, same with the potatoes so keep that in mind, especially if you're going to eat pupus. The meat was tender and the sauce was good but a little chunky. I tried my partner's butterfish and it was flaky and mild. Our server was quite attentive. It's a nice place for a date or an gathering with family and friends. You could also catch the sunset!

Calamari off the happy hour menu

First time back to the Charthouse in years. They just finished their face lift and the restaurant looks great. Still the same set up but everything is new. We had reservations in the bar during happy hour to listen to the live music. This place is kind of crazy busy during happy hour. The regular menu here is pretty pricey but during happy hour the pups menu lists a wide variety of plates priced at about $13. So, if it is getting close to 6:00 all of the tables start ordering a lot of plates so the kitchen gets swamped. We had a couple of orders we cancelled because they forgot to bring them. The food is good and the music on this particular night was excellent. Seems to be a regular hangout for some of the patrons. Parking without validation is $5/hour. I paid $5 total but some friends ended up paying $25 even with validation. I will return.

At the bar, the service is excellent. Even when they are slammed, you can have a conversation with the barkeeps. Their craft cocktails are on point. A must order is the Duke's Mai Tai, their signature cocktail made with fresh Hawaiian juices & two types of rum. Surprisingly, they offer a breakfast, lunch, and dinner prime rib buffet. We just ordered off the menu. Surprise number two, the food is excellent. We ordered the Duke's Nachos with kalua pork. Our nachos arrived piled high with black beans, jalapeños, pico de gallo, guacamole, sour cream, and Colby-Jack cheese, and of course, shredded pork. A local ice-cold draft beer was a perfect accompaniment. They did have live music one early evening, and the place was rockin' You can make a reservation online, and if you want a sit-down experience, make a reservation. We made a reservation for an early lunch, and we were able to easily secure two seats at the bar.

Excellent…read morelocation and highly recommend walking there if you are staying close by the Kalākaua Ave. There are very limited dining area so we decided to order to go. We were also able to order online and the process was seamless. We have ordered the most expensive lobster roll, which I believe has 1/2 pounds of lobster. The lobster itself was super fresh and the texture is great. You can taste the freshness from the food and you know that the lobster is not previously frozen. Although the price is close to $80 for one lobster roll, the portion is huge. It can easily feed 2 adults. We enjoyed our experience overall but will opt for the smaller option next time haha

I was able to experiment with different flavors with the Old Bay seasoning, garlic mayo, lemon, and butter. The garlic mayo was surprisingly good with the lobster. You can also throw the Old Bay seasoning on the chips if you're in the mood. The price is pretty steep which was my mistake. I don't know what I was expecting when ordering lobster in Waikiki. The lady at the cash register was less than pleasant and helpful so it makes spending that money feel a little more painful. If you can afford it and are really craving a lobster roll, this should satiate you. I didn't feel like I needed more to eat after finishing my meal. Location: The store is located in the Royal Hawaiian shopping center. You have to take a staircase from the first floor to a lower floor to get to it. You may need to ask around for directions. The restaurant is super small. Maybe two or 3 small tables that can fit no more than 6-8 people.

Chat gpt recommended this place and I have to say the AI was right! The place is really fun. You can park downstairs and they valet Park you and they will stamp you for free parking. The atmosphere is a fun vibe. They had live music. It's a indoor outdoor place. One thing to note, they don't serve their lunch menu after 4:00 so we went there expecting burgers and they don't serve them. So we kind of stayed reluctantly. I ended up ordering the guava ribs and my wife got them too. Those had to be the best ribs I think I have ever had! They literally fall off the bone as you're trying to pick up the meat. One of the reasons we wanted to go here was we wanted the options of seafood but one of our adults doesn't like seafood and they said that they had all kinds of stuff, which they do. Our server Maka, was incredible. He brings us out a free appetizer and said that was from the chef. I don't know if it was the chef or him but I was impressed and it was good. It was some kind of little fried dumpling. It was awesome! One of the people in our party had thought he was not going to order something and I gave him one of my ribs and after he tasted it, suddenly he wanted some too. I grabbed Maka and asked him If he could get those ribs fast because the rest of us were already halfway through our meals. He got right on it and had that order in. We were dying to go back this trip and sad to say, we left disappointed. The whole vibe changed from a fun Hawaiian restaurant to a yuppie upscale restaurant... however they still have the live music, which was a nice. The atmosphere was nice too. The menu items were minimal and surprising to us, none looked appealing. We did get a couple of appetizers, which were good... and a few samplers from the chef which were the best thing we had. But overall, is was a waste of money - and a lot of it!- I will share a positive though, the crème brûlée served in the bottom of a pineapple was delicious! It had a tangy, sweetness of pineapple that was delicious, as well as beautiful! Overall, not the same Tiki's. We did eat at food trucks and little hole in the wall places that had food that was better. Skip the bougie restaurants and go straight to the food trucks and little restaurants.
