Nothing worse than getting ready for bed, to find all the drains in the house are backing up. Time to call around... I first called one of the well-known plumbers you hear on the radio, and was surprised to learn there was a $99 +$265 emergency call out charge (a total of $364 before any repairs are even made!), and a 2-hour response tj. I came here to Yelp, and found Mike with Ace's Plumbing... most 5-Star reviews in the area. I called just before 9PM and Mike answered, said he'd be right over (though he was getting ready for bead as well when I called!). He was at my house within 15 minutes, diagnosed the issue within 5 minutes, and was soon running a snake down the main line! Was a total of 30 minutes and the job was done! So glad we searched Yelp and found Ace's! In the end, it cost us LESS THAN HALF of what the other guy wanted just to show up (not to mention a 2-hour response time). I called Ace's Rooter for a clogged drain in my basement floor. Mike was fast to respond and…read moreactually came 30 minutes earlier than stated. The clogged drain was backing up in my basement about 3 feet diameter. It was a 15-20 foot line that ran toward the main line. The water went down the next day when Mike arrived. Mike said if he has to clean out the main line that would be 575, but he would clean out the small line for free. Mike put the camera down the small line which had a handful of small fingerlie type branches in there which shouldn't be. Mike said the pipe was bad and really needed to be replaced. He checked the mainline while I was upstairs turning on water for him. When i came back down stairs he said he already ran the camera down the main line and it was fine. I asked him to show me with his camera because I had just bought the house a few years ago and the house inspector showed me where there were a few branches at the end of the line that would need to be cleaned out eventually. Mike ran the camera again and there was sitting water at the end. He said he could clean out the lines but that would be 575+220 after he just told me he would do the small line for free. I then asked him for a rough estimate on replacing the small line. He got on the phone with his concrete buddy and was whispering in the corner on the phone. Comes back and gives me a quote of 9700.00. I ended up only having him clear out the small line and he ended up charging me 575.00. This guy does a bait and switch on his pricing, so I would get everything in writing on how much it costs before he does any work. I won't be using him again. He gets a 3 for his quick response and that's all. His pricing a 1. His integrity a 0.

Contacted the owner (Chase) on Christmas Eve(Sunday) after discovering no hot water and unable to light the pilot. Chase stated he would be here 9:00am Tuesday morning. After performing reviews on our current Whirlpool water heater, could not find a positive review for the unit, so decided no matter what the problem, would have a new one installed. Contacted Chase again to let him know to bring a new unit. Chase arrived on time and right off could tell he was very personable, professional and respectful of property. After going over the Whirlpool unit, he agreed it was time to install a new one. What gave me full confidence is his knowledge of the water heater unit operations, venting, chimney importance(flue through chimney) and root cause of the rust(and how to prevent it in the future) which had accumulated on top of the unit. Another factor was the expansion unit which was totally rusted, preventing water from entering. The goal of Chase's satisfaction was to make sure we were totally satisfied with the install, all questions answered and stepped us through the new unit controls, etc. He uses 'Bradford White' water heaters which are highly rated. Chase is a perfectionist, making sure the unit is level, good drainage and secured a couple copper lines which had broken away from the rafter. I will recommend 'KC Water Heaters' to anyone knowing Chase is the template by which all business owners should follow in 'outstanding' customer service. UPDATE: Last month(12/2025), noticed some water dripping from the overflow valve. Contacted Chase to explain the issue. He came out the next day in the morning and replaced the valve at no cost. After checking the main house water pressure, it was right at 80 which is considered high that may have contributed to the leaky valve. Chase reduced the pressure and everything is working fine. Even after two years, KC Water Heaters provides exceptional customer service.

Usually, it involves having someone out that is just there to get in and out as quickly as possible, doesn't want to be bothered by details, doesn't show a lot of attention to detail, and rarely cleans up well after themselves. That is not KC Water Heaters. I'm almost dumbstruck by how responsive, communicative, consultative / informative, and all-around thoughtful Chase was throughout the entire process. He arranged and quoted everything with a couple of brief phone calls and some photos I texted to him, all within a couple of hours...and then they were out the next day to replace a leaking water heater (showing up on time, no less!). He completely reworked the plumbing and drain lines associated with the water heater, and educated us on maintenance and the effects of water softeners on water heaters (wow, was that an eye-opener). All throughout the process, he even talked us out of more expensive, but unnecessary options, and redesigned the placement of the water heater to make it more supportable and safe. He literally thought of, and anticipated, everything. We could not be more impressed!

However when I walked into my bathroom it looked like he left a train wreck all over and in my tub. Now my tub drain is slower than normal to drain. Had him work on an outside faucet too and he spread all the power tools with water. For the amount that they charged I would have expected better clean up and communication, but no way. Once he decided he needed to go he left in a hurry no let me show you what I did or do you have any questions. I had to pull information out of him. I had another faucet that needed work done but he said he had to leave and couldn't do it. I get that we all have busy lives and I would have understood had I not mentioned everything I needed to start with. Save your money and go somewhere else. It's not worth getting your house dirtier than it was to start with and flooded without your knowledge. I tend to let workers in my home do their jobs and not bother them much so I guess that I should have kept a closer eye on what he was doing so I would have known about the flood sooner than later.

I had…read moretried installing and it didn't want to power up with the normal wiring scheme, but would with the included power adapter that came with the thermostat. We had also called to have our A/C checked out as well and they told us that had to be 2 DIFFERENT technicians, EACH with a $150 service charge. Don't really understand how someone who is qualified to work on the electrical components of an A/C condensor is not qualified to connect a thermostat, but... The apparent "special" Technician for the thermostat arrived when I was not at home, but I spoke with him over the phone and described the issue where the thermostat would not power up with the standard 5-wire configuration, but would when using the 4-wire adapter. He looked into it and called me back a short time later that said that they Anthony PHCE charges $500 to install a smart thermostat. I just wanted it done so agreed. Once I arrived home I found out from my wife that they technician claimed the smart Thermostat was broken and that he couldn't install it and put the old thermostat back on. He said it shouldn't need the adapter and because it didn't work with the normal wiring it must be broken. Never mind that I told him exactly what he found over the phone before he began. Despite not completing the job we called them for, that didn't stop him from charging us the $500! Fast Forward a couple of months I decided to give it another shot myself and just to start from a clean slate I spend $15 to replace the wire from the furnace to the thermostat. AMAZING, that made it work. Turns out the "5th" wire must have been damaged so it wasn't getting power. Very sad that a special technician for performing this specific type of work didn't even know how to check for a broken wire. When I called them to request a refund for at least the Thermostat installation (I was fine with paying for the service call since they did come out), I explained the situation to 2 different people. They told me the Service Manager would review it and get back to me. Once I did receive the call, they told me that they would not refund any portion. I explained the whole situation again and the gentleman commented that is not what the people I had previously spoken too wrote down. They took it back to the Service Manager who again refused the refund on the basis that I did not let them come out again to fix it. Why in the world would I call back incompetent people who could not diagnose something as simple as a broken wire? Furthermore, I didn't know what the problem was myself until I fixed it, so there is nothing to call them back for. Based on Anthony PHCE's obsurdly high prices, duping people into paying multiple service calls and still charging people for work their "professionals" could not complete, I am amazed anyone uses their services.
