Being from out of town and on vacation, we inquired as to which beers were their own and which were recommended but the guy at the register was not very friendly or informational. When he brought us the beer, he set them down without telling us which one was which and walked away and we had to stop him in his tracks to ask. We ordered 2 of their own beers to try, including a pumpkin cream ale, though, it didn't have much of a pumpkin flavor. Both beers were also fairly flat. However, they were pretty busy on a Saturday (late) afternoon. We snagged a picnic table in front of the entrance and went inside to order. My friend and I aren't beer drinkers, so we got some lemonade and iced tea to make our own Arnold Palmers. For food, we ordered Pierogies and Burrata Poutine for the table. The Pierogies were unfortunately super bland - edible, but nothing special. I loved the skinny fries in the Burrata Poutine and the concept of the dish sounded fantastic. However, the execution could've been better - the gravy wasn't my favorite and I wish there was more burrata on the big pile of fries. I also got a Chicken Caesar Salad for myself, which was very standard - exactly what I expected. My friends enjoyed the Pulled Pork Sandwich and Chicken Fingers with Tater Tots. It is an order at the front then sit down type of brewery. I have to admit the best thing here is still the pulled pork. Everything else is average or below average. 16 dollars for some nachos is absurd! And 14 dollars for a bowl of Mac and cheese is pretty expensive. Their clam chowder was thick creamy and full of clams and potatoes. It was very good. The chili was just okay. Coleslaw was very sweet and was one of those apple coleslaws. I spent 27 dollars on just nachos with some pieces of brisket on top. However I will say when we ordered the side of brisket($7) and pulled pork($6) separately they gave big portions. Lots of seating inside and out and a great menu. Only downside is not a lot of toddler food options but our kid didn't care he had fries and pasta. On this perfect Saturday in January, we chose a picnic table outside in the warm sun. We ordered their Sacrilege burger on an English muffin for the husband and their special of short rib ragu with homemade pasta ($26). My oh my was that worth it! I bet it is more spectacular with the cheese on top but I was so happy to eat this comfort meal, I didn't miss the cheese. I washed it down with their peach wheat ale-YUM!! I also ate my husbands fries (it's part of our nuptials agreement) and they were so crispy on the outside with perfect amount of salt and pepper. The service was prompt and friendly and they brought out the pasta as soon as they could so my kid can eat. All the stars for this go towards the unique indoor and outdoor ambiance, plus the very friendly owner/server. My husband and I were in the Half Moon Bay area and he wanted something hearty to eat, so we found this place. We went during lunch so the line was a little long, but I don't remember waiting for a long time. The cashier/owner (I think) was also very friendly and helpful with regards to asking to refill napkins and the like. My husband and I aren't big drinkers, so I don't have much to say about the drinks unfortunately, but I do have some stuff to say about the food. The food is why I have 3 stars. I think my husband liked the burger and fries that he got, but I did not really like the fish tacos and nachos that I ordered. The nachos just probably needed to be reheated to be honest - my husband and I decided to eat outside that day when it was a bit chillier, and so naturally the melted nacho cheese cooled down and I personally don't like cold, melted cheese - so I did not finish that side. The fish meat in the fish tacos did not taste very good. They also included some sauces to go with the taco, but I can only use so much sauce to make up for the unpleasant taste in the fish meat. I would be open to trying something else on their menu though, it's unfortuante that the fish taco did not taste great. read more

Typical bar/taproom environment. Good music which was great. You order at the bar and then find your table. The guy told us up front that there would be a small wait which was appreciated. We decided to go ahead and order. We got the Brussel chips, buffalo chicken tacos and a sacrilege cheese burger with a side of fries. Service and ambiance were fantastic, unfortunately the food didn't follow suit. The bussel chips were a great idea or concept but they are actually fried individual bussel sprout leaves which made eating them quite difficult. You can't stab them with a fork because they break and when you attempt to "scoop" them, they fly off due to how light and airy they were. Super disappointing. The sauce on them was tasty but hours and hours later I kept burping up the oil and taste of these things. I would never order them again and believe it's a waste of money at $12 an order. He ordered a burger and I ordered the buffalo chicken tacos. The burger was probably the only decent food we ate here. And it wasn't even that great, at that. We threw some of the Brussels chips on the burger and that was a tasty invention (also enabled us to actually eat them). The fries that came with the burger were fine and very well seasoned. The buffalo chicken tacos unfortunately were a massive fail. They come LOADED with pico de gallo (why??) and a drizzle of sauce. However the chicken itself was extremely dry and over cooked and had zero flavor. Needed salt in a major way but I couldn't find any! I had a hard time locating the "buffalo" path of these tacos and discovered a very light drizzle of buffalo sauce on the lettuce (under the pico). Needless to say 0/10 will not be back. read more

Firestone Walker anniversary ale - my fave So I got just sample sizes of my listed #4 and #5. My partner ordered the Hazy IPA. Let's start with the positives: the restaurant itself is cute and inviting--a great place for a quick bite and a drink with some friends. The food? Solid. We tried the cheeseburger, veggie burger, pulled pork sandwich, and buffalo wings. Everything was fine--nothing groundbreaking, but it hit the spot. Pricing was as expected for the type of place. Now, here's where things got a little...**sigh**. The cashier was not having it. She was short, dismissive, and clearly over the day. Don't you dare ask her a question about the menu, she's not interested in answering it. My mom, who is in her 70s and one of the sweetest women to EVERYONE she encounters, had her feelings hurt by how rude her response was when asking a question about the daily menu written in chicken scratch up above the cashier's head; clearly she had difficulty reading it which is why she needed clarification and needed the cashier to do, you know...her job? The table next to us made the same comment about her vibe, so at least we weren't imagining it. Thankfully, the food runner was a total energy shift! She was kind and engaging. I've enjoyed Half Moon Bay Brewery often, but this is one of the best places to have beer and some food. I didn't expect them to serve me very good food, but surprisingly their food is good! I got a shrimp sandwich last time, and it was fresh and tasty. It was coated with butter. I got Hawaiian chicken tacos this time. It looked simple when they served it to me, but when I tried it, I was impressed. I'm picky with meat in general, unless it's really good quality. The chicken was really good--no bad taste or smell! I want to start off by saying the service here was so nice. The gentleman working the counter and the gentleman running food were both so kind and helpful. Facility is nice and clean. There is also some outdoor seating which is great for those sunny days. We didn't have the opportunity to try any of the beer due to a long drive and being with child. I wanted so bad to like this place but the food was disappointing. I don't know if I'm missing something because a lot of the reviews seem excellent but this is the second time I've eaten here now and both times were not great. I really wanted fish tacos and it just wasn't good. They only offer them breaded with panko. There was so much breading on the fish that that was the majority of what I tasted and when I finally got down to the fish, it was so chewy. Since Half Moon Bay has a variety of wonderful fresh fish why not serve a fresh fish taco? And since this is a brewery, why not try a lighter beer battered fish rather than a heavy panko crusted one. For those of us who love fish tacos I think we'd all be stoked. Maybe I just came on a bad day. Boyfriend said his sausage sandwich had so much stuff on top that it took away from the flavor of the Bratwurst. He said all he could taste was bell pepper. He also said the wings weren't fried enough. Chicken fingers were ok. Again, maybe we just ordered the wrong things. Most places have something that's their signature. Nice outdoor seating and good vibes, food was just alright. We got two Sacrilege Burgers and a Lamb Burger, as well as an order of Pierogies and large fries. The beef burgers were standard, albeit a little dry. They used English muffins as buns, which I thought was odd; would have preferred a regular bun. My friend got the lamb burger and wasn't a huge fan; it came with a white Mediterranean-esque sauce that she didn't expect nor appreciate. I wasn't a fan of the pierogies; you get four for ~$10.50 and I definitely didn't think it was worth the price. Fries were typical. The food took quite a while to come out--about 25 minutes. If we lived here, this would be our "go to" weekend spot. They have a huge variety of homemade craft and other beers. The menu has a lot of great options. We loved the Tachos (nachos with tater tots instead of chips) that we added shredding chicken to. Just those could fill two people up. The fried artichoke hearts were also excellent. The best part about this place are all of the seating options. You could sit inside facing one TV playing sports or at another spot facing another. You could sit outside at ground level, where most people with dogs sat or up above that on the deck. We chose this in order to people watch. The staff and owner were super nice. If you come here, suggest bringing snacks or something so they're not screaming "where's our food?" I wouldn't call the food a pro or con. It was alright. We got the fish tacos (2 of them. Not large portions, that might a con). I got the chicken wings, which were ok. You can choose ranch or blue cheese dip - I ended up getting both because I use a lot of dip apparently. We came here on a weekend for lunch and had a great time! There was parking along the street that the restaurant was on. There was plenty of seating inside and outside, and lots of TVs inside. It was an order-at-counter situation. We got a pumpkin cream beer and a macadamia nut beer. Both tasted great, there was a pleasant aftertaste and it paired nicely with our food. We tried the burrata poutine (how can you say no to burrata and fries?) which was tasty. The main downside was that the fries got soggy pretty quickly under the burrata. We also got the fish tacos and pulled pork nachos. The fish tacos were amazing, but there were only two. The nachos were alright - pretty standard heavily loaded nachos. It took a while for our food to come out (which was fine since we were enjoying our beers), but service was slow overall. Not sure I'd come back for food (which was on the expensive side for brewery food), more likely to return for some unique beers. I thought it was cool that they embraced the "sacrilege" theme with some merch and branding. Overall, a fun spot to grab some food in half moon bay. We are up in Half Moon Bay almost every single weekend, so we've tried a variety of different restaurants, and a diverse breadth of different types of foods. Our favorite Thai spot closes for a couple hours in the afternoon, so we decided to try Sacrilege out to see if we could add it into our rotation.
