Don't waste your time selling books here; you're better off donating to Good Will and getting a tax write-off. I brought 5 boxes full of all kinds of books. Most were in "like new" or "excellent" shape. I also had 2 boxes full of Windows and Mac software as well, half of it was never even opened, and included a valid Serial Key. They had me wait over 75 minutes in the store, then they admitted to not even looking through all of my stuff, and offered me a whopping $17.75. I expressed my surprise with this low, low offer after wasting 3 hours of my life (I drove out of my way because of the excellent reviews on here), particularly because they had a quote ready for several people that came in after me, despite their "first come, first served" policy (which they lied to me about, saying those people had come in before me... nope!). Frustrated, I asked if they could just make it an even $20.00 cash. The guy paused a couple seconds and said "That would be the best I could do." Sounds like a yes, right? Nope - he handed me a receipt with a total of $17.75 on it. I'll say it again, folks: Your time and money are better off donating to Good Will or any other charity that offers a quick drop-off and a receipt for tax reasons. Your books will go to a charitable cause instantly, instead of you having to wait over an hour for chump change, which they tend to mark up from buying from you for 25 cents to selling in their store for $5.00 to $25 and up.... They will buy whatever you bring in, but just give you credit, and a lot of it. I found a book over a century old in perfect condition. You really have to hunt around, not sure what you will find. They also had a cute little cafe in there. read more

I understand they need to make a profit, but when I bring in brand new, hard cover books that are still on the best seller list, or unopened CDs and get $1 for them, it's a little discouraging. If you go, just look at the book selection and not at the heavily pierced, tattooed, dirty sales staff and you'll be okay. The selection is good and I will continue to be a customer, it's just that it could be so much better than it is. read more

This location was way over priced compered to their other store on camelback. Also, wouldn't take some of my valuable comics but would take my dime a dozen titles. LOL. Condition wasn't the issue, they need a knowledgeable person in there. read more

I've noticed most of their collectible and antiquarian books can be found for a much lower price on ebay, even when you have a coupon. The same goes for anything else they are asking alot of money for. I always check ebay on my iphone while in the store and I am always finding the same books cheaper with no tax and usually free shipping on ebay. I've also sold some collectible and antiquarian books to them and they typically offer only about 2% of what they are going to list it for. So if you see your book on Ebay for $50 for example they will most likely offer you $1 for it and when you go in the next day it will be out for $50. There is one particular buyer at this location who will lie to you as well. I bought a book once at this location for $50. I read it and the condition was no different and I brought it back to sell to them. The buyer said "there's no way we could ever put this back out for $50 so I can offer you $1 for it. The next day I came in and it was out for $50. You would be much better with the tax write off from GoodWill. The 2 antiquarian books I sold to them for $2 would have netted me a $100 tax credit at Goodwill (which in real dollars would be $20 at 20% tax bracket). That means I would have gotten 10 times the money donating the books to charity. read more

Nice staff, great store with decent prices. I like to get calendars here because it's a lot less $ than anywhere else. We also like to root through the vinyl albums and have purchased many. Make sure you check the condition, some are pretty trashed. read more

My new favorite little bookstore! I'm a total instant gratification person and like actually going to the bookstore and browsing rather than ordering online but still like to pay the online price...if you are like me...you will love this place! Great prices, selection, and people. read more

Possibly my favorite bookstore in Phoenix. Prices are pretty cheap, they have a good selection of books, not always a complete selection but better than average. I love that they have a clearance section in an already cheap bookstore (lol). It's not too noisy, obviously, it's a bookstore. Video and music selection is pretty good. Though the only drawback is selling to them. I've sold multiple times and let me tell you, these people are such cheapskates it's not even funny. The best they could offer for at least around 60+ dollars of books and video was around $8. Ridiculous, but other than that they're pretty good for buying. Just don't sell to them. read more

Both my husband and I are big readers and we love shopping in this store. It's not often that we are looking for a particular book that we don't find and the clearance section is great BUT (and that's a big BUT) it is NOT a good place to sell your books. I have brought in boxes of books of different gendres in excellent condition at one time on more than one occasion and they will take them all but offer you very little and I don't think they offer trade credit. Your best bet for selling is Bookmans. read more

If I could give them a negative 1 I would. I have been in there many times over the years to try to sell my books and each time I walk out so annoyed and disappointed. I've tried taking in a range of all different things and each time I will take boxes and boxes of new books, old books, paperback, hardback, no matter what I am always offered $1.25 FOR ALL OF THEM. I'm better off selling them in a yard sale or something. I dont read often, so my books are always in pristine condition too. Kids books, love stories, cook books, twilight series, craft books, you name it I have it. At least offer enough to make it worth my gas to get there. On top of it, the staff is never friendly, seems like they are always in a bad mood. This place is definitely a joke, and I dont recommend this place to anyone. read more

I love this place. I do still like the large book stores, but every now and then I'll go here. Sometimes their used books can be a little over priced (especially for being used) but their clearance aisle can be great. read more
