We heard good things about this restaurant but it was a bit disappointing. First, they did not take waitlist/reservations. So we showed up around 8 pm on a Friday and were told 30" wait unless we wanted a bar hightop by the front door. I was willing to wait but my partner wasn't so we sat in the bar area - which was also the kitchen grill area. We should have waited for a table as our two popular meal options took almost 45" to receive. Service on drink refills was the best part. When the food came out the only hot food was my pecan crusted mahi. Sweet potato "creme brulee" was not brulee - it was sprinkled with raw brown sugar with a pat of butter on top and was just warm. The crabcake on my partner's seafood sampler was mushy inside and lukewarm. Shrimp on both plates was just warm. Cheesy grits were actually good to me but my southern partner said southern grits do not have garlic but the texture was okay. Green beans were soft and just warm. And the cost for 2 meals and 2 sodas was $80! If the food had been hot and cooked well, we would have no issue paying this. As it was, the whole experience was a disappointment. Do you know why most people choose a restaurant (especially for an event)? Besides the food- Experience and atmosphere. This is why I will not be returning. As one of the only locals in our WEDDING party, I suggested our group of 11 have brunch here. We didn't even make it past the door before we were scowled at and turned away. The staff was simply being lazy and not wanting to accommodate a party. I don't know why considering the place was practically empty. Luckily, our bride was in good spirits and we were well taken care of down the road. Overall, it was just disappointing to turn our party around and throw off the wedding festivities over a staff who couldn't be bothered. Start to finish, this place was amazing. We were here 8 years ago and has stood out in my husbands mind since. He has forever said that this place had the best oyster Rockefeller and from the minute we booked our trip he said we had to go back to Half Shell. I love the building inside and out. The service was fantastic and as a non-seafood eater, I was torn between two meals and eventually settle on the burger which did not disappoint. My friend immediately ordered a soup and salad and ordered a second cup of soup with her meal. I believe it was a seafood bisque? I think she might have liked it. This is an all time favorite for my husbands and our friends said several times they would be fine if this was the only place we ate dinner at. This is one my go to restaurants . It had some of the best food and oysters on the coast . The atmosphere is a little busy . I went there last night . It was Saturday and it was packed . It's is a little loud. The wait time was approx. 15 min for two people. The service was great . My wife got the filet and lobster. I got the ribeye and lobster. Side salad and orleans oyster. For my tottie i got an old fashion. Over all the food was great . My steak was ordered medium, it was a little medium well. But the flavor and the sauce saved it from being sent back. We'll surprise, surprise, surprise. I don't know how or when they did it, but they are truly now one of Biloxi true good eateries. I recently went there on a special dinner and wow was I shocked and awed. The food was very tasty and well prepared, the serves was wonderful and the atmosphere was well it all was superb. We arrive around 5pm and I'm glad we did we were seated immediately and taken care of. The establishment became quite busy after we were seated but staff worked extremely hard to keep things moving quickly. We had the chargrilled oysters and smoked tuna for starters and both was delicious . Their drinks were great as well with happy hour from 3pm-6pm with $2 off all drinks. I am visiting from out of town with my family to see my hubby. This place is a fantastic restaurant for families as well as others. The atmosphere is awesome & the service was so good! I waitress was so sweet and very knowledgeable. The food was yummy too! I ordered the Royal Reds Shrimp for a starter and it was cooked perfectly! I was happily surprised and the was huge! Perfect being by the ocean. For my entrée I ordered Seafood au snapper I think it was called with a side of their asparagus covered in a cheese sauce and the cheese grits(I wanted to try something different) The snapper was just a smidge overcooked but wasn't bad! the tlavor was delicious. I loved the sides too! I would definitely come back here if I lived here as it is fairly priced and I see why it is a huge hit! People were dressed nice and casual. We got here five minutes after opening on a Sunday. Granted we need a table of 7 on the first floor, but there were several four person tables available. We've been sitting here for 35 minutes. So, as we were driving by on a Sunday evening, looking for a place to eat, we saw a restaurant sign and an arrow pointing towards city hall. We turned off the main road and found a few places. We decided on this place once we saw the reviews. It looked busy. People were sitting outside like they were waiting for a table. We walked in and were immediately shown towards a table on the second floor. We had a huge table with a view. Our waiter came over immediately after we sat down. Auston was awesome. He provided Great recommendations, had a great attitude and was very nice. Everything on the menu sounded good. We started with an old reliable, Crab cakes. We also ordered the main dish of Royal Red and Shrimp and Grits w/ Bacon. We also got the hush puppies. We got our crab cakes and they were really good. Little bits of lump and good filler. They were awesome. The Royal Red arrived as we finished the appetizer. Holy cow. 1 pound of HUGE shrimp. You have to peel and devain the shrimp so be aware. When you finish cleaning the shrimp and take your first bite, wow. The flavor was as good as any spiney Lobster I've ever had. Sweet and soft, not chewy, Shrimp / Lobster meat. I got my shrimp and grits. Again, big plate of food, so come hungry. The dish was very flavourful and really filling. I barely had enough room to have a piece of my wife's shrimp. We were totally full and so happy that we found this, off the main road, restaurant. This is not just an oyster bar. This is probably one of the best restaurants in this town. If you're in Biloxi you have to eat here!!! During our trip we ate here every night, not even kidding. Our first trip here we came for lunch because they have lunch specials during the weekdays. We got there a bloody Mary that they have and let me tell you that thing was life-changing. So good in fact it made me come back and have one for dinner. Outstanding meal. First I want to mention our server Gabby who was wonderful, welcoming friendly, sweet, made great suggestions! For appetizers we had the voodoo boneless chicken wings which were excellent. The sauce was a perfect Smoky, tart combination. Chicken was perfectly cooked chunky white meat. Crab claws were delicious too, fried with a nice cocktail sauce. My fiance had the triple steak cheeseburger which he said was wonderful. Had a great flavor. I had the redfish Orleans. It was amazing. Very heavy smoky taste though so you'd have to like that. Shrimp and crab meat topping added to it perfectly. Finally the chocolate obsession for dessert. Great. Very chocolaty so in the future I would just ask them to leave the chocolate syrup off. Atmosphere was beautiful, clean, quiet. Can't wait to return. Ate here twice on holiday to the Gulf coast. Came for the Oysters and were not disappointed. On the half shell, pristine, fresh and delicious ! Char grilled even better. One dining companion who was not a huge fan of the oyster proclaimed " that was really good " referring to the char grilled. Had the blackened redfish both times......Excellent Only drawback was our waitress the first night, eating downstairs. She thought she was doing us a favor by waiting on our table. Lovely seafood locale evoking NOLA vibes. \\ green tomatoes + crab cake - i'm learning that deep fried green tomatoes are a Southern staple, and the savory crab cakes work pretty well with them - not sure if I'm a fan of the texture, though--everything is classic Southern soft and mushy \\ oyster sampler - giant salty oysters, cooked in several different ways. i'm no oyster connoisseur, so excuse me for not really being able to tell the differences... \\ stuffed mushrooms + greens with pork + sweet potato - portabello mushrooms packed with crab and other bits of seafood. again from a texture perspective, i like my seafood in larger pieces - comes with two sides - loved the collard greens with pork (maybe because i was really craving vegetables by this point and also the flavors reminded me of something straight from a Chinese mother's kitchen) though also rather overcooked, Southern style - the sweet potato was covered with a crust of brown sugar, which for once provided some texture. this side is great because it doubles as dessert I definitely could not finish even half of what I ordered, but that's what to-go boxes are for.
