I spent five nights and six days in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama. Parrain's Jambalaya Kitchen wins hands-down for best meal of all. Key deserves a huge shout out for being such a sweet and attentive server. I liked her tremendously. We had the boudin egg rolls and the Swamp Tour Sampler: jambalaya, crawfish étouffée, gumbo, and red beans and rice. For dessert, we had bread pudding with beignets. The Boudin egg rolls were the best thing I ate on my entire trip. Perfectly seasoned and perfectly crispy, every bite was heaven. The jambalaya was the best jambalaya I had on my trip as well. It had a fantastic smokiness and was not wet at all. I also loved the crawfish étouffée. It was creamy and loaded. The red beans and rice had a bit of a sweet edge that was not quite my taste. Try for yourself. The bread pudding was the perfect sendoff. Bite-size beignets were nestled in the bread pudding. It was a sweet, creamy, perfectly Mississippi dessert. I loved Parrain's so much that I bought a T-shirt. I generally don't like wearing clothes that serve as advertisements, but this place just has to be advertised all around the country. This is it!!! Under new management. My wife had the best shrimp Poboy she's ever had. They deep fry the bread here. It was absolutely amazing! I wrestled a bite from her. I had the swamp tour which include included a serving of jambalaya, gumbo, red beans, and rice, and the best crawfish étouffée I've ever had. We're coming back for lunch tomorrow. DELICIOUS FOOD! My husband and I came here because one of my coworkers recommended it to me and we LOVED it! The service is great but upon walking in, the place is a lot smaller than a lot of restaurants. We loved that it had such a comforting feel to it and if anyone was craving bold rich flavors, this is the spot. We've been here multiple times and got the sampler, the red beans and rice, the gumbo and the jambalaya and it did not disappoint! Their portions are a lot smaller than most and it is a little pricy for the amount of food you get but it is quality over quantity for sure. We end our meal with their rich and silky bread pudding! UGHHHHH thinking about it is already making my mouth water. The bread pudding is soft but also crisp and it just melts in your mouth! Came here with my wife. Excellent service. I will say that the parking is small but this small spot packs punch. We got a little bit of everything to check it out. We split a few things between the two of us. We had the tour of the swamp. The red beans and rice was really great. Not always my favorite when we go out but it really stood out. Very flavorful. The etouffee was great. Wish there was more crawfish but I always wish there was more. We all probably do with most dishes. lol. The jambalaya was really good. Well seasoned. Now my wife is picky about gumbo and is a hard judge to please. I am a little more on the giving side and look at it from the perspective of "even a bad day fishing is better than a good day at work" point of view. A day with gumbo is generally a better day most days. The gumbo this day was not great. I have heard amazing things and I was not impressed. I will only mark off a star because everything else was so great. I hope it was just a bad day and we will hope for a better next time. And there will be a next time for sure. The shrimp po boy was slam packed with shrimp. Great bread and dressed well. The boudin eggrolls were fantastic. Sift and tender on the inside and crispy crunchy on the outside. I assume there's street parking nearby. ~ We went during a weekday for lunch, and it was just us and one other table, which made for a relaxed experience. ~ The place has a classic diner feel, which I love--a nostalgic feel for me. They offer fountain drinks along with canned and bottled sodas. Here's what we had: Chicken & Sausage Jambalaya ($14.95) - Comes in a generously sized bowl. My friend, whose only reference is the boxed stuff, said it was great. I agree--it was flavorful, though a bit drier than I expected. The Swamp Tour ($24.95) - A sampler of jambalaya, gumbo, etouffee, and red beans & rice. The etouffee and gumbo were a little saltier than I prefer, but still delicious. I loved the sweetness of the red beans--it balanced everything out nicely. I'm a sucker for samplers because I like trying a bit of everything. White Chocolate Bread Pudding ($7.95) - Definitely on the sweet, but a great way to wrap up the meal. Bonus points for the mini beignet on top! Overall, it was a nice outing and worth the visit. This restaurant currently ranks as one of my all time favorites! We stopped by on a roadtrip and I have been thinking about the Red Beans & Rice ever since. They were ahhh-mazing and I am half tempted to drive 8+ hours just to get some more. Aside from the Red Beans & Rice though everything else was also delicious! Our server was so sweet and while service was a bit slow we had such a great experience here. It may not be the place to go if you are on a time crunch, but other than that you need to go here! I also loved that their gumbo and jambalayas are not made with shellfish which was so nice! Everything was super yummy and the beignets were made fresh and were just the perfect finish to a great meal. The restaurant itself is pretty small with only a few tables and a small parking lot out front. It has a great southern vibe and there is fun artwork on the walls. If you come on a busy night I could definitely see that you might need to wait, but when we arrived there was only two other parties. Lots of people were getting takeout though so that is always an option. I am hoping I will be back in the area just so I can stop by and eat here again!! read more

Wow. This place is just as good as the reviews say. Christie at the front, was a delight and while they were sold out of tjambalaya we came for, we opted to get the catfish po boy and a bowl of gumbo. Both perfectly seasoned. My friend deemed the catfish the best he's ever had. The sandwich was overstuffed with fried, yummy fish! The fries were crispy and salty. Sweet tea, brewed in house, was not overly sweet, but done just right. They're making a fresh batch of jambalaya today so we're going back tomorrow. I ate so quickly the only thing I got a photo of was the beignets which were hot and perfect! Updated: Went back again today for the jambalaya and the catfish special which is on a bed of jambalaya and covered with crawfish étouffée. The flavors here were unbeatable. I could eat the etouffee by itself it was so good. Definitely my highest suggestion! I'm so happy we went back. We had a seafood combo at our hotel last night and it was not impressive. Stopped here on a recent trip to New Orleans. Of course we had to try the Po' Boy. Good food and lots of it.

The little place is off the beaten path and kind of non descript. But..... the woman who seemed to be the owner or manager and also our waitress was fantastic!! The shrimp poboy I had was off the chart good. The poboy bread was soft and soooo good! It elevated the poboy from a great sandwich to a fantastic meal! We ordered drinks (the lemonade is SWEET sweet!) and decided that we would get the swamp platter to get a little taste of everything and it was enough for the two of us. The swamp platter came with red beans and rice (they put sugar in this and it's sweet which was something I'm not use to), gumbo, Étouffée, and jambalaya. The serving size was enough that two people could enjoy a little taste of everything. I watched items being served at other tables and everything looked great. I had a chance to try this place from searching Biloxi restaurants. I had no idea what to expect from this place but the food from the pictures looked good. When I arrived at Parrain's I noticed it was a small restaurant with some seating on the outside. As I walked inside there was one couple that was in the restaurant. I was with another person and we were greeted by an employee. She was very helpful and told us we could sit anywhere. She provided us with menus and quickly I decided that I wanted the swamp tour. How could I not try a sampler of gumbo, jambalaya, etouffe, and red beans and rice. When the food came back it looked amazing. And I can say it tasted amazing as well. The food was very flavorful. I think my favorite was the red beans and rice. It had sort of a sweet smoky flavor that was different from any red beans and rice that I've had. All the other dishes were delicious as well. The person I was with had the catfish parrain. I tried a little piece of the catfish and it was superb. I'd definitely recommend this place to someone in town in Biloxi. read more

This place is awesome, food is delicious and service was great. The étouffée and pudding are the best and she brought out a sample of Jambalaya that was fantastic. I'd rather eat somewhere like this than a chain. Came back to Biloxi for tech school recently and was looking forward to coming back here after last eating here four years ago. Four years ago my father and I had the pudding and it was so good that we urned around halfway home to come back and get another order. Highly recommend! i absolutely love dinning at family owned/hole in the wall restaurants and supporting small/local businesses. i heard a lot of rave about this local joint during my visit to biloxi so of course i decided to try it out. the boudin eggrolls were my favorite, they are served with a sweet and spicy sauce that takes them over the edge. the catfish parrain was good but not what i was expecting: i wish the jambalaya was a little bit more cajun/spicy. additionally the catfish was lightly breaded. i personally prefer my fried catfish to be prepared with a thicker corn meal breading and fried hard. i opted out of getting the crawfish etoufee bc i'm allergic, and was shocked they do not have some type of cajun cream sauce. i believe having this option for those of us with shellfish allergies would highly compliment the dish. overall the service was good and the atmosphere was chill/relaxed. read more

Parrain's is true Cajun Cuisine. This is a tiny place, chuck full of homestyle cooking. We ordered the Jambalaya, and the Catfish signature special with etouffee, which came with a garden salad. I am sensitive to salt, so it was a bit too salty for me, but not fir my husband. The food is good, hot, service perfect... and the beignet's are the best I have EVER had. I definetly reccommend the quaint and lovely little gulf coast home cookin gem. read more
