I spent a good portion of quarantine a block away and ordered Half Shell often -- you get a big bang for your buck. Definitely try the gyros. They offer beef and chicken (if you don't specify, you'll get beef). The pitas come stuffed with a ton of meat and are super filling. Wings are decent, as are the salads (which are also humungous for the price). The pizzas might not be to everyone's preference. They tend to be quite thin and wet, and the toppings often slide off. It doesn't have a chewy crust or really cheesy . Still, the flavors are great, and my favorite is the namesake "Half Shell" pizza without the olives. read more

I was picking up bagels from Bagelsaurus when I noticed this place right near. I was intrigued by the lit up shell and boy oh boy am I glad that I noticed this place. It's a hole in the wall that accepts card. I could not find any site that would deliver from them, nor could I find a place to put an online order. I could not even find a website for them, so looking up a menu was a bit difficult and I had to rely on google images and yelp photos to figure out what they had/the menu. That same night Hubby and I ordered dinner. I had to place my order over the phone, and my questions and order were taken swiftly and efficiently. Food was ready 20 minutes from ordering. We got: 1. Chicken fingers- not anything special but decent just what you would expect 2. Small gyro pizza- comes with gyro, tomatoes and onions and the crust was a bit thicker than I was expecting but enjoyable 3. Two gyro pitas with extra tzatziki on side- this is the star of the show. These gyro pitas were DELICIOUS. The gyro is both lamb and beef (no pork-I called and asked) and they do not skimp on the portion size here. I've sampled many a gyro, and this one is levels beyond the rest. For one, Half Shell uses only beef (a traditional gyro is made with lamb and beef, and I don't like lamb). The strips of meat are crispy on the outside and juicy and tender on the inside. Wrap it in a warm pita and top it off with homemade tzatziki and voila! The Half-Shell is a great, affordable place for gyros, pizza, etc.! Our first time here, we had the gyro and souvlaki dinners (which was like a gyro, but with steak tips), both of which were freshly made and delicious (with the kitchen just behind the counter, you can really smell the food as it's cooked). They also give you a pretty substantial amount of salad and rice or fries with the dinner, so you're almost sure to be full at the end. At first, the restaurant seems like a place more for quick take-out orders and not so much dining in; you order at the counter, where you'll also get your napkins and utensils to take to your table, and the restaurant itself is a bit on the smaller side. However, a few minutes into our meal, and it was clear that the restaurant had a special place in the community, with customers laughing and joking with the cooks who sometimes came out to greet them. There was a steady stream of people coming in to pick up food, and I'll definitely be joining them in ordering take-out from the Half-Shell in the future! read more

Ok this review comes after MANY deliveries this summer. This place is fantastic! It's a super fast delivery and the food is really quality. I have only had the sandwiches and fries but legit they hit the nail on the head every time! I am a sandwich person and I usually make my own bc I am really picky about the ratios and the condiments. The bread is never soggy when delivered (even when I get oil on it) and the fries really are always crispy (need a little salt but crispy). The price is great for what you get. I usually get the turkey sub and the small is HUGE!! We're talking at least 2 meals worth. Got the turkey club today to try it out! delicious, I even stopped eating half way to take a pic! It's the kind of really greasy food that you can sort of pretend is tasty if you're drunk, but if you're sober, really has no redeeming qualities other than the fact that it's somewhat cheap and cops and firemen frequent this place (what can I say, I have a thing for men in uniform). I fail at coherent reviews, but here's all the awesome things about this place Meatball calzones & Ravioli, and whatever else comes with tomato sauce. The sauce isn't tacky watered-down ketchup I seem to find everywhere... Its actual good Thick stuff with chunks of tomato! The pizza is very tasty and the toppings are a-plenty! I'm a big fan of their dough and they make breakfast stuffs (omelets ahoy!) way past noon (had mine at 5pm ^^) so don't be shy about getting a nice fluffy fried egg stuffed into a bagel The subs made by the wonderful "man with the mustache" might be the reason I'm gaining extra pounds. They're just So Wonderfully Good! For 5 bucks, the "small" isn't small at all, and filled to overflowing with delicious steak/mushrooms/cheese (or whatever you feel like mixing up in there) oh, and last but not least is a cookie. So my brother wakes me up this morning with a phone call. I hear through my plague-like-sickness haze that he's ordered lunch for me and it'll be arriving in like 30 minutes. So he ordered a large lentil soup, two sandwiches and fries from the Half Shell. It came and it was okay. It was all cold. The soup I reheated and was pretty good. The fries were not salvageable. The BLT I had was passable, but the bread was a little chewy. I know, it was a delivery, but I'm not that far away. Maybe a mile. So it would have been nice to have it a little warmer.
