I'd put this ice cream up in a taste test against any of the fancy (and often more expensive) brands available in your supermarket. It's that good. When we go to someone's house and they offer up a brand like Häagen-Daz, Tillamok, Breyer's, or Jeni's, it's always a disappointment. They're just not as good. The rest of the store is a useful mix of daily necessities like bread and the aforementioned milk, and junk food like chips and cookies. Both normal milk (under $2 for a gallon) and the chocolate milk($2.89) are silky smooth and delicious.They ago down like water, without the strong milk funk that I now detect from store bought milk. The cheeses are also all great. I recommend the cheddar or muenster. If you like smoky, the smoked cheddar is right up your alley. The packaging area for the cartons is located in the same building, so you can see them packaging the milks and juices. This is fun for the kids as you can view the process and wave at the workers! After frequenting Halo Pub a few times, I came to know that Halo Pub has a facility nearby, Halo Farm, supplying their famous ice cream nearby. With fresh ingredients in the ice cream that rival the best, I was intrigued by the possibility of visiting the factory nearby. I got there late in the evening so the manufacturing side of the building wasn't in production but the lights were on and the machines were there in full view. So the Halo Farm building not only houses the manufacturing side but a retail side that sells essentials such as milk and eggs that seem to be cheaper than the local markets and fresher than anything outside of the farmers markets. They also had other items like bread / cookies which I didn't take interest in since I was just there for the sweets. Back to the ice cream, a buy two, get one free promotion on their ice cream pints seems to be an ongoing promotion. They are open late and they sell artisan ice cream on the cheap. My favorites are cookies n cream and their bourbon vanilla. The vanilla has ingredients you can pronounce, and I like that it doesn't have all that added junk! Of course the flavors with cookies etc., will have more added ingredients; but still seems better quality and less processed than most of the ice cream you get at the supermarket. Walking in I was hit with these super weird overhead lights that messed with my eye sight and balance, also my photos. Why are these bad ingredients suddenly in your tea? It tastes entirely different now - it has a lingering sweet aftertaste and appears to be watered down. My family has been going to Halo Farm for 40 years. Until today, their Iced Tea has been a staple in our refrigerator and for holidays & family gatherings. The tea was not only a quality beverage, but it was a sign of tradition for my family. But no more. Please change back to your original recipe. I'm sad this place no longer has the cows on site but it has also been 20 or more years since the last time I was here. I came to show my son some of the things I used to do as a kid on vacation in Jersey. Seriously though, everything else is still the exact same. I was shocked they had debit card readers. You can still watch them carton the milk through the glass windows. They have just about every option when it comes to dairy products: milk, cheese, yogurt, ice cream, etc. I remember enjoying the ice cream as all kids do but this visit I wasn't able to eat any because I had to get to the airport shortly after. I also used to love their juices. I did see a lot of packaged foods that probably have always been there and I just didn't remember that part. I was hoping for more fresh breads and pastries. I would encourage you to shop here just so they can remain open. I would hate to see it close. read more
