This ice cream shop has been a neighborhood staple for years. Nice decor inside (great hard wood and cute bovine knick-knacks). It's great for families or to catch up with friends, though I'd avoid it after any of the local middle- or high-school functions because it gets FLOODED with people. The actual ice cream is delicious and VERY inexpensive. I'm not sure how many non-chain ice cream places there are around here (there are plenty Carvel locations and a Cold Stone), but Halo Pub is definitely my top recommendation. read more

Super awesome place for a crazy rager of a Saturday evening, if you're looking to get drunk off the sorbets on draught, root beer floats, and delicious ice cream. We stepped inside and I was immediately taken aback by how much of a pub it really was. Pub environments, in my experience, entail live music, dim lighting, and wooden furniture and decor. Halo pub was just that. With cowbells hanging off of the ceiling, assorted bovine pictures, and even a moo-bile hanging off of the ceiling, this place was fantastically eccentric. My sorbet was taken from the soft-serve machine - adorably labeled as "Mango draught" and "Raspberry draught." The mango flavor was spot-on, but both were too sweet for my liking. I also wished that they were creamier, though I know sorbets generally aren't. My date's mint cookies 'n' cream milkshake was reported to be amazing, though I didn't try it myself. His only regret was that he didn't get a large. Oh well, mistakes made will be corrected at the next visit. This place is wonderful! The staff are always so bubbly and nice and ready to help. The ice cream is amazing and everyone rushes in to get their share before it is all gone. This is also a wonderful night spot. With a live band and a cup of ice cream this place is amazing. They also make sure that you get your order. My friend wanted a banana milkshake but unfortunately they ran out of banana ice cream. The staff was so nice that they had decided to just take vanilla and put a banana in it to make her milkshake! Always liked this place when I lived here and snuck in two visits on a recent trip back. First of all, this place is extremely unique. When you walk in, you are walking into what looks like an old, old bar (it is a Pub afterall). There's plenty of seats, although most people seem to carry out their orders. Anyway, they have a lot of choices with their ice cream. A few of my favorites are peanut butter, caramel and cashew and strawberry chocolate, but there is truly a flavor or two for everyone. I've never really been here when it's packed, but there is always a steady stream of business coming in. They've got a group of mostly teenage kids working behind the counter and their all pretty nice and outgoing. They also offer samples. You don't really feel rushed here and I like that. This place is really popular with families and teens. The ice cream here is good. The owner of halo pub modeled the flavor off of hagen das and made their own creations. I went around 6pm and had to wait a little bit because there was one server and 6 people in line. What I really love about this Halo Pub is their extensive list of coffee drinks. There aren't many coffee houses in this area and I'd much rather go here than to a dunkin donuts. Their espresso is really bitter and black but not burnt like at starbucks. read more

There are two locations for Halo Pub. This one and one in Princeton. Both serve ice cream made at a dairy that sources grass-fed milk locally. This location is in a former pub. It's really cute. There are many ice cream flavors, mostly standard ones, nothing too crazy. I got vanilla and strawberry chocolate chip. Both were very good. read more

I may or may not have a degree of lactose intolerance, and I may or may not suffer after consuming large quantities of dairy. But in the famous words of some guy named Gus Malliarodakis (thank you, Google), "No pain, no gain." (This line applies to the beginning of hard workout routines, physiotherapy, and eating ice cream). I had a coffee-flavored, soft-serve, no-guilt, happy-coronary-arteries medium shake and it was heavenly. The coffee flavoring didn't taste artificial or fake, and the consistency was perfect. It was so delicious, and you can really taste the freshness -- no easy feat for soft serve ice cream. The cash only is a bummer, especially if you're trying to treat generous family members. Halo recently raised their prices significantly, and the portions have gotten stingier to go along with the price increase. My husband and I have found that the service has gotten worse, so we've decided we will no longer patronize this location. If we want Halo ice cream, we'll get it at the store in Lawrence (three pints for $6!). If we want the ice cream parlor experience, we'll stop by the Purple Cow in Lawrenceville, which is similarly priced but is way more generous with their portions. read more

Ihad heard about this ice cream place from friends in the area. They have 2 locations and I found myself in the Hamilton so I stopped in for their notorious chocolate ice cream. The quality of the ice cream and the taste was way better than Hagen Daaz. I found out that their ice cream is all natural - no preservatives etc - which I like a lot. Pretty cool place to hang out and do some computer work or reading. Planning on coming back for the Peanut Paradise as I am told it's to die for - up there with their line of chocolate ice creams. read more
