This used to be my go to ice cream spot since about 20 years ago. However, it hasn't been lately. Not only has the ice cream price skyrocketed, but it's just not as good. My chocolate chip cookie dough had nearly no chocolate chips and barely much cookie dough. This happened on more than one occasion this year. I now look elsewhere for ice cream in the area and it's such a shame.

Two scoop sugar cone with chocolate butter pecan and black cherry. Yummm!!!

Two scoops of delicious flavored icecream on a sugar cone is what I ordered. It was delicious. I order the chocolate butter pecan (yes you heard that right), also the black cherry icecream. The scoops were humongous. I enjoyed every minute of it. It was a long line upon entering. We waited anyway. They moved pretty quickly. It was appreciated. The service was very nice. The outside looked nice, but didn't look spectacular. I could have overlooked it and passed it by if I wasn't paying attention. The sign for the name of the establishment wasn't big and it was dark. The inside looked dark as well. Like I mentioned, it was packed in there. Wanted to grab a table on the inside but it was no more space. Opted to eat the icecream in the car. I definitely will be back. Thanks for the wonderful day filled with wonderful icecream.

A really cool feel. An old pub with dark wood and creative flavors in the cares. The base is slightly more crystalline than creamy. We got the chocolate peanut paradise and the never veggies seem chocolate butter pecan. Awesome chocolate base. Deducted 1 star for the absolutely disgusting bathrooms (both male and female)

O M G! This place could not get more perfect (for me anyway). Not only is the icecream here made by hand and fresh w/ variety'o'plenty but the decor is outstandingly marvelous!!!! It's like you walked into a classy barn, if such a thing! There are a few tables and chairs but the majority of the 'dining' is done on built-in wood benches! Cow decor is everywhere - sweet artwork, unique trinkets and awesome cow bells & old fashioned icecream scoops hang from the ceilings. So cute and quaint. It was really fun finding a seat to enjoy our icecream AND to watch the live band! I'm not sure of the band's name but they played music right up my proverbial alley - mostly jazz and blues. The tip jar was filling up nicely and rightly so. To make it even MORE festive, a large (wedding?) party came in and were so happy and were dressed up - some of the children even had balloons. I enjoyed watching them. As for the icecream . . . I got pistachio (hmmm, it was white and not dyed!) and chocolate butter amond. Both were so good and perfect. Not too dense, although, I DO like that as well and absolutely tasty. The nuts were nice sized and plentiful. And OMG - the chocolate butter almond! The chocolate was really dark and delicious! I wish I took a picture but I think I was too enthralled in the surroundings to! Really! I'm absolutely going back and hope to on a Saturday night!!!!!!!!! You need to go to experience it! I LOVE THIS PLACE!

The dining room was empty except for one family huddled in a far corner. The freezers that should have been packed with half gallons and cakes and watermelon rolls stood hollow. Two claw machines slouched in the corner, blinking weakly, as though embarrassed to still exist. Behind the counter, one teenager stood guard. She did her best to look occupied while not looking bored, which is a difficult trick. As we placed our order, another father and son walked in. Suddenly the number of souls in the lobby doubled. The place was alive. Three more teenagers came out of the kitchen, laughing together, and began making our ice cream. It felt like the staff outnumbered the customers. We kept things simple. The youngest wanted vanilla with rainbow sprinkles, whipped cream, no cherry. The oldest went with forbidden chocolate and marshmallow topping. My wife ordered mint chocolate chip with hot fudge. At Friendly's it is green, which she insists is the only proper color for mint chocolate chip. I ordered the Reese's Pieces Sundae, though not the five scoop behemoth of my youth. Back then I could eat one after a full dinner and still run around afterwards. Now my cholesterol just shakes its head at me. I ordered a medium, which was still enough to remind me of old times. My father in law passed. He later said out loud what we were all thinking. "Is it just me, or was that place kind of depressing?" He was not wrong. The ice cream was fine, exactly what you expect from Friendly's, but at nearly ten dollars for a sundae, it felt more like an obligation to memory than a bargain. The teenagers behind the counter were pleasant, efficient, even jovial. They were the best thing about the place. But they could not disguise the fact that the restaurant itself looked tired, ready to shuffle off. Three stars. The kids working there earned them. The ice cream kept them. But Friendly's, at least this one, feels like it has already said goodbye.

The place was decorated for Halloween (we've been there at other times and decorations were appropriate for the season). It's cheerful, colorfully lit and not the depressing place it once was. It has nice decorations too within the inside from the pictures to the amount of booths and seats inside. There is so much to choose from like burgers, to chicken fingers, ice cream, cold drinks, and everything else you could possibly want from DQ. The service overall is good too with no complaints as they're always well staffed and have plenty of people keep the lines down. When it comes to complaints there really aren't any as they got plenty of spaces and never too busy. Only criticism is that it can be pretty cold on the inside but that is expected because it's to keep the ice cream cakes and everything from melting. Check out this location if you're ever near it.

Just ice cream. The Turtle Pecan Cluster for me. Royal Reese's Fluffernutter for the lad. The ordering process was painless. The waiting, uneventful. The tables though. Imagine a game show where the challenge is to find a clean surface in under thirty seconds. We lost. We picked the least sticky of the available options and called it a win. A young woman emerged from the back, bearing our Blizzards like they were holy artifacts. She raised one skyward to perform the sacred Upside Down Test, that moment of Dairy Queen bravado meant to prove their ice cream's virility. Unfortunately gravity had other ideas. Our server reversed course at the last possible second when the Blizzard, perhaps suicidal, made a break for it. She gave a look that said both "oops" and "please pretend you didn't see that" and vanished into the kitchen. Despite the theatrical mishap, the ice cream itself remained undisturbed and edible. Mine was fine. Not a revelation. Just a polite mix of turtle, pecan, and processed dairy. My son's Royal Reese's Fluffernutter, on the other hand, was the true star of the afternoon. The marshmallow core ran down the center like a sugary spinal cord. He grinned like someone who had bested the universe. I envied him. We left slightly sticky and moderately satisfied. Three stars. One for the blizzard, one for the boy's joy, and one for the comedy of a dessert almost abandoning ship.

3 and 3/4 stars…read more Someone said a "slice of Boca"? No, not quite. (Although "not Boca" isn't necessarily a bad thing.) However you look at it, the comparison is inflated. The latte was good (not delicious), but a tad watery with a fullness of flavor missing. It was a rainy Saturday afternoon and the place was busy, but not overwhelming so. Tables were full, but it was only a short wait for me to place my simple order (by coffee shop standards) of a small, vanilla latte. However, once my order was taken (yes, the wait-server was pleasant) and I paid, I was left to figure it out. First time in and so I didn't know what the deal was: do I wait where I am? Pick up at a different counter? Ok...but where? Does someone call my drink out when it's ready (there's no put-your-name-on-a-cup thing -- which IS annoying, but apparently can be more handy than I've previously thought)? Is the order stated when the cup is placed down? The person who waited on me had vanished into a gaggle of chatting and giggling girls behind the counter, so I asked another customer. (FYI: you wait at the perpendicular counter to your left of the register.) No big deal, but it's one of those "little things" that separates the four stars from the five. I moved to the "wait" counter and observed a few drinks being placed down -- all beverages in similar cups -- and had to (again) ask someone else for help (i.e., which order was mine), as the barista who made my drink put it down and then disappeared into that gaggle of girls. (Also minor, but another separator of the three and three quarter stars from the four.) In short, the latte was good, but not the best. The service? Ok, but not the best. The ambiance? Again ok. Maybe because I've lived in SE Florida for more than 20 years, but it definitely does not have that true Boca feel. Nonetheless, given the options in the area, Hamilatte is a welcome attempt at something different, and definitely a preferred choice to Starbucks. I will return if I'm nearby, but I won't go out of my way (as I do for a truly 5-star establishment).
