    Hot Hash Skillet
    Rose J.

Underwhelming food and service. The first time we went, we were there for about 2 hours total. It was a Sunday so we weren't too put off by it and understood the wait. It did take the server about 20 minutes to take our drink orders and another 15 to take our food orders because she ran off before we could complete our initial order. We both ordered the the hot hash skillet and our sunny side up eggs were severely undercooked. The cinnamon roll was dry and only had a sliver of cinnamon filling. Coffees and waters were not refilled regularly and we had to track people down for refills. The server was nice and apologetic at least. Went again today and I ordered the Up N At Em with French toast, eggs, bacon, and hash browns. The hash browns and eggs were the best part. The French toast was made out of bread so stale I couldn't even cut it with a knife and the bacon was over cooked and almost jerky-like. It's unfortunate because the servers are all so sweet and are trying their best but the owners should look into the quality of care the cooks are putting into the food.

Burnt bacon, broken egg, & those hockey pucks that they renamed "hash browns." Aug 2024

Went in Sat AM at 10:25 & sat at counter by myself. Had to wait 15 min to order 2 dippy (sunny-side up) eggs, bacon, & potatoes at 10:40 am. I counted: 4 servers & 10 people total in the diner. My food didn't arrive until 11:30 am, after I flagged a server & asked. They had a 5 yr old girl sitting next to me, rolling silverware into napkins - she kept playing on her phone, wiping her nose, & then grabbing more silverware with the same hand. The bacon was overcooked & horrible. Of the 2 eggs, one yolk was cracked. The "hashbrowns" were those dry rounds you buy from the freezer section - they were like hockey puck hard. Never, never again. Crazy expensive for such a bad experience.

After an early flight and landing at Allegheny County (AGC), we needed some breakfast before finding our hotel. We were instantly sold on the name and had to check it out. The staff was very friendly and inviting, which made us feel right at home. I ordered the "Breakfast Sammich" with a pancake and my captain ordered "The Usual". My sandwich had the spicy sausage which was not the best part. It was probably my only complaint of the whole breakfast. The sandwich was absolutely huge. The pancake had blueberries and I loved it. Overall, this was a great option for breakfast and it definitely hit the spot.

The scrambled eggs were uniquely flat but good. The bacon was thin, but it was delicious (and they gave more than two pieces, so it was plenty). The home fries were pretty standard. Italian toast was well toasted and buttered. I found it odd that they gave ketchup packets instead of a bottle, but this is a Greek owned restaurant, and maybe ketchup isn't prevalent in Greek culture. My son got Greek eggs Benedict, which had Gyro meat. I tasted a bit of the meat, and it was awesome. Definitely something to consider on a future visit or maybe for lunch. Not huge inside, so large parties could be tricky. There were five of us, and it looked like only one table could accommodate a larger party, but it was available with no wait. There was only one server, so I was worried that the service would be slow, but she did a great job. The restaurant was only around half full at the time. I saw comments in other reviews about the waitress being rude. I'm not sure if ours was the same person, She had a very monotone voice and direct demeanor (probably partially due to being the only server and trying to be as efficient as possible) and I can understand how some people might perceive this as rude. We had zero problem with her. She was very nice and attentive, and she offered a bit of small talk as I was paying at the register.

Absolutely nothing crazy (minus the French toast) that is just NAILED. And THE PRICES are so awesome The Hot Mess. Massive, loaded and delicious. That's not an omelette either.. that's their scrambled eggs loaded with potatoes and smothered it their insane sausage gravy. The biscuits with it. Right out the oven fresh, so soft, not dry in the slightest and honestly didn't even need anything on it. The corned beef hash was probably the best I've had. I never had it was such a great crisp/crunch to it. That is my new standard for corned beef hash The pancakes. The best in Pittsburgh and my top 3-5 of all time. I hate the hotcake style which you see in Pittsburgh MINUS the crisp with it. But I don't want that throughout the entire thing, I still want my fluff. This delivered that PERFECTLY. Great crisp on just the edges and the fluff in the middle. Absolutely perfect THE BOSTON CREME FRENCH TOAST. My second favorite breakfast item I've gotten in Pittsburgh. You will rarely see me get French Toast unless it's recommended a decent bit or just looks nuts. THIS is my favorite French toast I've had and I hate Boston Creme 90% of the time. It always gets too overfilled, and too sweet of a custard. NOT HERE. The chocolate topping was perfect, not just a basic syrup people buy at the store that is so overpowering. Can 1000% tell homemade. The custard had the perfect amount of sweet ratio for amount they give Warning it's small inside with minimal seating and you will have to wait. I drove 50 for it and waited 35 for a table. I would drive 2 hours and wait another 2. I will be returning numerous times ESPECIALLY when they have the Bear Claw Pancake Special
