Man I really didn't want to write this review, I emailed them privately 2 weeks ago in hopes of them responding and not having to make this public. I assume now they will respond since it's on world wide web. Not sure where to start but here goes, went there to celebrate a very special occasion w the family and we were told because we were larger group (6 adults and a few kids) we had to order off the special menu which was "Meza style" of them bringing some of there popular dishes. What started out as something new and exciting quickly turned to disappointment. They brought out 4 tiny appetizers, some Turkish fusion pizza and kefta kabob that was raw and not edible. Not only did we leave hungry and got pizza next door, but for a bill around $1,000 it was complete robbery, not to mention the server brought out doubles of certain drinks that they promised would be taken off the menu (that never was) the food was definitely not worth or justifying the bill, food was not enough and also undercooked. By far the worst dinning experience of our lives (and we've had some bad experiences). It would have been more enjoyable if we could have ordered off the regular menu, at least that way we could have ordered what we wanted and not gotten ripped off by there Meza style party set up price, but again for groups 6 or larger they choose this route which doesnt make sense other then taking advantage of customers w there pricing because it would have been easier just to bring out 6-7 dishes off the menu. Maybe they were understaffed which I get these days but we waited 45 min in between certain rounds. The fact that we got pizza next door and burgers for the kids on the way home, tells you everything you need to know. Again, hate posting things like this but gave them 2 weeks to respond privately, however the experience left such a bad taste in our mouths (literally and metaphorically) that I wouldn't ever go back or suggest this place to anyone. read more

Overall food was delicious and our group of 4 had a nice time. The lamb kebab was the highlight and we needed 3 orders for the 4 of us (honestly, we probably could have even had another order). We ordered every appetizer for the table (except for the soup since that wasn't shareable) and all were delicious. Overall, we thought portion sizing was small for the price, and for our group size we probably should have ordered 2 of each of the appetizers to have more than "one bite" each. We were eyeing the dry-aged porterhouse (which were running in the $150-$200 range) and agreed we wanted to come back at some point to try that out. The wood fired kitchen was beautiful and it was great to taste a lot of that smoky/charred flavor throughout the various dishes we had. Service was overall attentive with a few minor "polish" improvements that the restaurant can work on as it gets into its rhythm. Wine and cocktails were great - we had a nice turkish red (very reasonably priced at $45) and cocktails were different and balanced (and were in the ~$15 range). We ended with some amaro/sauternes which was also nice and the bartender led us to some good offerings and was helpful with suggestions. I recognize this is a new restaurant so will give them the benefit of the doubt for some areas and am looking forward to how the restaurant will grow and evolve in the coming months! In terms of some things the restaurant could do better: Reservations: Hamdi needs to work out its reservation timings. We were seated 40 mins after our reservation for 4. There was nowhere to stand while we waited (granted it was rainy/snowy outside), but we just had to huddle at the door with other parties who were also waiting for tables - which also unfortunately encroached upon other tables that were seated. At some (nicer) restaurants, they might offer to buy a round of drinks (or even ask if we wanted to purchase a drink?), or proactively offer something for the long wait, but there was barely an acknowledgment that we were standing there waiting. Not to mention, as we were finishing our meal, we were asked to leave b/c another party was waiting for our table. Ummm....this wouldn't have happened had we been seated at our original time! We weren't rushed throughout our meal, but also felt like they didn't value our time. Also, this is miniscule, but the $5 order of bread is a bit ridiculous...especially for 4 people to get one tiny bit of bread. Also, why on every bread order was one of the pieces of bread way smaller than the others (its like, lets give everyone 3 big pieces and 1 piece of the "butt" end of the bread to compensate)?? Seemed a bit tone deaf to also not include bread automatically on some of the dips and sides off the bat. (Do I really want to eat a salmon roe dip with just my spoon?) I'm fine to pay for good bread (and this bread was good). On another note, it would have also been nice to have more traditional pide/pita vs. sourdough. Service: Overall bordered on casual with a slight upscale slant. Some dishes were plopped on our table with zero explanation, whereas other food runners gave a nice overview of the food. It would have also been nice to have a plate change-out during the meal. Our server was great overall - but was also a bit forgetful and we had to order some drinks multiple times, etc. Ambience: Beautiful restaurant, small with gorgeous wood-fired open kitchen. Music was loud (hard to talk even across the table), had nice plants throughout. Shared restroom with Ballard pizza next door. Given the December timeframe, there were lots of hoshigaki (Japanese dried persimmons hanging from ceiling). Would be nice if persimmon were featured on some of menu items - or if hoshigaki were offered in some of the food items to say they were "house made" or something. :) read more

This is a place for meat loving foodies!!!! They even serve an Anatolian Cattle, which is an animal that is at risk of extinction So, if you LOVE meat and are only going with fairly hardcore meat eaters, you'll probably love Hamdi. After we we're seated, we were informed that the menu has only four entrees (one of which was sold out and the other - the steak listed at MP was a little under 200$ before tip and tax which was a drastic difference from the price of the rest of the menu items). They require a 20$ per person deposit on the reservation site online, which makes sense because they want to insure you attend dinner, but only being able to choose between 3 entrees and 1 being a crazy price difference made me want to leave then had it not been for the reservation deposit. We proceeded to get a few apps and a side of bread before getting some actual food elsewhere. Our server told us that everything was meant to be shared- the appetizers were crazy small however. We got the beat plate, lamb ribs, and eggplant pide. We also ordered the white bean side dish. The side dish was enough for literally one spoonful for each of us (we had a three person party). The lamb ribs were good (but small again). We were brought a mushroom pide out from the kitchen- and two in our party don't like mushrooms. We would not have ordered that dish if we had been informed that the eggplant pide was no longer in rotation. We told on of our servers about this and he said that they still had some eggplant pide in the back and would switch it out for us. If you still had some, why would we be brought another dish without first informing us? This took about 30 minutes past finishing the other food to come out of the kitchen. We paid and then left to finish eating somewhere else, but my card was charged for the wrong bill first, and had to be voided and redone with the correct bill. TLDR: not a lot of options to choose from for main course, bad communication between staff members and costumers, food is mediocre or overpriced for what it is read more

Food was very good and the kebap was truly amazing. It would be a 5 star review if it wasn't for the drip pricing. There is a 20% mandatory surcharge on top of the final cost, meaning the food prices are actually 20% higher, however this isn't disclosed to you until you get the check. This would have been five stars if not for the last 15 minutes of our experience where it was made very clear that they wanted us to leave ASAP. the reservation was very bad. the made us wait in a cold weather 45 mins and keep saying wait another 2 mins but it ended up 45 mins then we decided to leave. we had a reservation for 8:30 but they made us wait till 9:15x respect to time if customer is the most important thing . so we never go back there read more

The food was great at Hamdi, however, the service was lacking. We had an 8pm reservation that we made weeks in advance for us to arrive and the server tell us they didn't see our reservation in the books. We happily waited and ordered a drink while we waited for a table. Our drinks never came during our 1 hour wait. Finally, when our table was ready our hostess flippantly told us that she did see our reservation in the system for an hour earlier and it was "their bad". We still didn't receive our drinks till 15 minutes after we were sat at our table. We proceeded to order the servers recommendations which were all vegetarian and our bill came out to over $200 with the $20 reservation fee not applied. I wanted to love this place but our experience was so soured I do not think we will be back. The owners need to seriously look at how to efficiently operate a business before they charge astronomical prices. read more
