It has taken me nearly a year to write this review, but I am actually glad that I waited. Peter made the landscaping process easy, and I really appreciated his attention to detail. The days he and his team were here were low stress and they cleaned up well. It's been about 10 months since everything was installed and here's what I can say - we have had zero problems with the lighting, the drip system, and the general quality of the installation is great. A few smaller plants died, but I expected that, and establishing new plants was easy with the drip system. The native shrubs and the tree are thriving, they look great, and are easy to maintain, which was what I wanted. 5 stars for sure! read more

Peter did a fabulous job on our church property which is quite extensive. The drip irrigation system originally installed by another company was not efficient and he replaced all of it with a traditional sprinkler system. He also cleaned up plants that were dying and replaced with plants more appropriate for the exposure they received. His understanding of the kinds of plants that would survive in each area around the church made all the difference. It's been several months since the install and our church property just shines! I called early (before most businesses open) and he immediately returned the call. My irrigation system was not working. The yard had not been watered for a week. Peter is kind, hard working, thorough. I could not have been more pleased. I consider him a gift. The replacement "clock" is simple enough that I can manage it by myself. I consider his price quite reasonable. I had expected a much more expensive installation. He didn't try to influence me. He was willing to install the same type of "clock" I had before; however, it was complex and I could not manage it without help. We "opened" our landscape plan with Armstrong in AUGUST 2017! Due to their designers failure to communicate and coordinate, after threatening to cancel a $2,000 job, they asked Peter to call us. This was early December!! Peter responded within one day, came out 2 days later, we figured out the hardscape design and made the plan for him to do it right after the holidays. He never let us down and we are SO HAPPY with what we now have. His pricing was right on, he communicated regularly, he worked with our schedule needs and a plus was our doggie, Mako, loved him! Last week I went to Armstrong Nursery and purchased several new plants to be planted. Since I have a black thumb -- I needed someone to come and remove several shrubs and new plants to plant. Armstrong Nursery in HB contracted out with Peter who called me on Friday to arrange a time on this past Monday and arrived with his crew of two. They removed my shrubs and did a fantastic job in planting the flowers. I asked about tree trimming and he said that he does that also. I will definitely call Peter Hamill in early September to complete my yard with the tree trimming service. read more

I need to rewrite my review (glowing) from last summer: Peter was very easy to work with while I was paying him cash-- my first mistake-- and writing checks for materials (another mistake, but at least I have records). Plants were delivered and left in the summer heat, often without water while the hardscape was being dug. He said-- I have the emails-- that he would replace plants that died. He didn't. I asked him to help me dig holes to replace the plants that died with ones I purchased. He said he'd help. He never showed. I asked him to come over and look at the plants he planted six months ago. I wanted to show him that the ones I planted three weeks ago have already progressed beyond his. Peter's response to this last request was an offer to come over, bargain with me on a price, and then "be done" with me. As he remembers things, I did not pay him completely for the last job. He is as rude as he is wrong. I have records. I doubt he does: he took cash and ran. (Are you listening IRS?) He won't be bidding on any future work in my neighborhood. read more

He suggested locations and moved some plants to better locations. He installed cement mow strips. His price was right. He was gracious and responsive to change requests from my wife. Although Peter did a great job on the initial install he failed to do the follow-up he promised. He promised to replace any plants that died. When a couple did die I contacted him and he said he would come over. I made several calls to him and the bottom line is he never returned to fix the problem and failed to show on several occasions when he said he would. read more

I had been warned how difficult it is to find an honest and competent contractor considering the negative environment we are surrounded in today, so did a little research and got some recommendations before making a final choice. I am happy to say, I definitely chose the right guy. Peter and his team worked harmoniously together, and were totally in tune with my needs and concerns. They are respectful to the client and each other at all times. My home is old and my yard had basically not been touched in about 40 years. He started a job with many challenges and met them all. To name just a few, Peter is a "hands on" guy, and was physically on the job for the entire time his crew was working at my home. Peter is honest, professional, knowledgeable and was always compassionate to my situation. He is a man who listens to your concerns, makes suggestions, follows through with them, goes the extra mile, and is always on time. When you call him, he returns your call in a timely manner. Peter is also flexible to changes. He did some additional things such as repairing some badly damaged cement areas, carted away a lot of junk that had been lying around, exacerbating the disheveled look of the yard, and added a few unexpected extras to make caring and maintaining the yard a lot easier for me. As the job developed, things came up that I wanted to add or change, and he was always amenable to addressing unexpected situations. A treasure for us OC folks wanting custom landscaping, extremely high quality work, great attention to detail, Peter is a very hands-on guy and closely watches the quality and workmanship of his team every step of the way. I found him very creative and easy to work with. When an issue came up (as it always does) and we appeared to have a misunderstanding of the scope of work, he listened to my side and was willing to work with me. Finding a contractor who does what they say they will do is not always easy, but Peter did not increase costs and he was very flexible as my ideas changed a bit here and there. He was fairly priced, not the cheapest but not the most expensive by a long shot. He is really top notch and very creative but practical as well. I will definitely be using him again. read more

Peter was the third contractor I called for an estimate to install a sprinkler system in my front yard & parkways. Since I had a good deal of hardscape to work around, the job required some thoughtful engineering. Peter's layout was the cleanest most efficient plan and his quote was well below any other estimates I had received. He and his crew showed up on time and finished the job in a day and a half where other contractors said it would take 4-5 days. A week later he stopped by the house to make sure everything was working to my satisfaction. Peter is an experienced, trustworthy tradesman who knows his craft.
