Hamilton's opens up their basement on Fridays for beer pong, but when I called to asked if we could play on a Tuesday, Steve happily obliged and let us use the space. Went here on a Saturday to watch the Badger football game. This is definitely a great place to go to hang out with fellow Badgers!! The fact that there is Leinie's on tap made it that much better. It was an energetic game day atmosphere, but be sure to get there a little early as the top floor filled up pretty quick. There are also game day specials for both the Badgers and the Packers, so if you're missing WI, its the place to be. We got a couple orders of cheesecurds which game with ranch and marinara sauces. I like the idea of having both, but the ranch could have been a little more distinct than the standard thick ranch from the bottle. The cheesecurds were decent, they just seemed to be lacking some flavor. The batter was a little thick, which I was fine with, but some other people in my group didn't like it. Additionally, the batter could have used some other flavor in it, some sort of spice would have made it feel a little more WI. It was kind of nice that they didn't feel greasy however. We were in DC for a day and wanted a quick lunch. My girlfriend's son found that Hamilton's was nearby, so we decided to give it a try. What a great choice! It was a Saturday, and the place was busy. However, we were seated quickly. The server / bartender was great. He took orders right away and brought drinks quickly. We all ordered the same thing - Buffalo Chicken Wraps. Bottom Line: Packers rooter bar during football season but just a quiet hang out near the Capital during the off season. I'd say this is a laid back neighborhood bar but it's not even in a neighborhood so I'll just have to stick with summarizing Hamilton's as a small, casual bar that welcomes Packers fans during football season. After walking by the Capital building and feeling stressed by the political unrest that goes on in the North and South wings I really needed a drink! The closest bar was Hamilton's so I decided to give it a whirl. The interior is split into a restaurant area and a bar area. Additionally, there is a patio. Although I was just there for drinks there menu had some tempting bar food items on it like nachos and burgers. I stuck to one of about ten beers they had on draft but they had a full bar too. I really liked the bartenders here. Both were very friendly and the gentlemen had a quick wit. Not only were they engaging and kind with my friend and I, they were also really nice and chatty with the tourist families. I had a hard time finding Hamilton's probably largely attributed to being directionally challenged but also because it's in an alley. Hamilton's is next to Alibi but unlike Alibi, Hamilton's is open on Sundays! read more

Late lunch. Wanted something new and different. My office is connected to The Hamilton Bar and I just started working here 2 weeks ago. The bartender who took my order was pleasant. He asked if I wanted to add fries with my sandwich but he also warned me that my sandwich would be plenty. The open-face bbq beef brisket came with mac & cheese, beef brisket, onion strings and cole slaw STACKED on top of texas toast ($11 including tax). I'm glad that I didnt add fries. I wasnt able to finish all of my food. Next time: I'll ask for my food NOT to be STACKED. My toast was soggy I and didnt have enough BBQ sauce for my beef. read more

Perfect lunch spot on a busy tourist day in DC. The outdoor seating area was covered so we had protection from the sun but still plenty of fresh air. The food was incredibly quick, delicious and just what we needed to fuel up for a day of sightseeing. The Cobb salad was fresh and the guacamole on top was a nice surprise to a Cobb salad. I can't even remember the guys name to be honest, but it was "too far" for him to set a plate down in front of the person who ordered it. We were clearly not locals and treated as such. Meaning, the staff was rude and acted as if we were imposing on "their" time. But I guess when you are a party of 6 and they slap that gratuity on the bill, you just get what you get.
