Victorian style two piece set from Eleanor Brenner

I had spent a lot of time planning out what vintage stores to see when I visited NYC, but nothing panned out. When my partner and I decided to visit Greenwich Village, I took a look around to see if there were any vintage stores, and lo and behold, I found this gem. The selection was AMAZING. It was shocking to find that a lot of the vintage dresses were sized above an 8. Nearly everything I picked out fit me (a size 12ish), which is a genuine rarity in a vintage store. The owner had the cutest dog and was incredibly kind and helpful trying to find my partner some shirts and pants. I don't expect a genuine vintage store to be "cheap", you can go to Goodwill or other places if you want to find pieces being sold for the pennies. But it's also not incredibly expensive. My dresses ranged from 90-120$, and the two piece Victorian style set was $200. To me, that's an incredible steal for the quality of pieces you're getting. I can't stop raving about this store and the next time I visit NYC I can't wait to visit again.

A recent Saturday was windier than expected, making us wish we'd worn just one more layer. So my husband grabbed an Italian army jacket for $20 (They also had a beadazzled Syracuse sweatshirt, but I passed). The army jackets were great - some of them had Italian nametags, and some were ripped (Like they'd been through a real war!). My husband spent the rest of the day warmer and more comfortable (if slightly fascist-looking). Best part of the store, though, was its adorable canine mascot, who let us pet his tummy and totally made our day (See photo).

This is definitely a cool store. On the smaller side but you can still find some good stuff.

I am confident, however, I will find something that appeals to my frugality. I do not know if Muji invented the concept of a brand that is not a brand, in the sense of not advertising itself, which ironically achieves its own iconic minimalist status. They have perfected it though. Last time, I got their 90 degree socks. I actually have concluded it is not a gimmick. I have some socks that slip off, at the heel, in particular if I wear them with runnig shoes. These do not. Everything I have acquired from Muji has gone into my regular rotation. The design is good, the quality is there, and the prices are not outrageous. So I commend Muji to you if you have a similar sense of not wanting to want, but being willing to browse. I'm confident you will find something on every visit.

I feel like it's free aromatherapy because they have tons of diffusers going on but never overwhelming. I also appreciate this location is wheelchair accessible. The employees are helpful and never pushy. It has the usual stock of home goods and clothing for men and women, but I don't think this location is particularly large if you're looking for the full array of what Muji offers.
