Ridiculous wait time, extremely slow staff. Need more employees and more efficient way of assisting customers

I have been using Hammocks Auto Tag Agency since I first moved to the area many years ago. Established in 1991, this agency has been diligently serving the community for over three decades. The truth is, with the advent of online services, it's not necessary to visit in person as often as before. In fact, it had been eight years since my last visit. However, I recently sold one of my cars and needed to transfer a personalized license plate to my BMW, so I decided to head over on a rainy day, hoping it wouldn't be as busy as I remembered. To my delight, when I arrived, the place was empty--yes, you read that correctly. There were five or six employees behind the counter but zero customers. I was warmly greeted by a very friendly security guard at the door and then proceeded to the counter. Remarkably, this place is exactly as I remembered it; nothing has changed in all these years, not the employees, not even the color of the paint on the walls. The employees were all very friendly and attentive, and my tag transfer was completed in less than 10 minutes. It's amazing to see that there are currently 120 specialty plates available in Florida in support of various organizations, including state colleges, universities, and sports teams. Overall, the Hammocks Auto Tag Agency served its purpose efficiently and effectively. While I may not need to return for another eight years, I'm glad it's there and how quickly I was taken care of this time. Highly recommend! read more

I don't go anywhere else to renew my car registration. The lines go by quick. When I got to the front I had a hold apparently because I had a $6 toll from Orlando which they gave me the number to call to resolve the issue. Once I finished they said I could just go to the front of the line which I am thankful for but I felt bad and wasn't in a rush so I did the line again. I feel compelled to share my highly unpleasant experience with this tag agency. On December 30, 2024, I visited the agency to replace my 10-year-old personalized license plate. I was informed that, in addition to replacing my plate, I was also required by law to renew my vehicle registration for two years, as it was a personalized plate. I proceeded to pay all necessary fees, including agency fees, the cost of the plate, and the two-year renewal. On February 5, 2025, I received a call from the agency notifying me that my license plate was ready for pickup. However, upon arrival, I was informed that I needed to pay additional fees because, while my registration had been renewed for two years, my license plate had only been renewed for one year at the time of my initial visit. I spoke with an employee named Judith, who stated that I would need to pay the additional fee in order to receive my plate. When I asked why I had been required to renew for two years if a one-year renewal was an option, I was told that no one had provided that information. Judith then left to speak with someone in the back, and another employee, who refused to provide his name, came out to reiterate the same information with a dismissive attitude. He stated that if I wanted my plate, I had to pay, implying that the misunderstanding was on my part. I expressed my frustration, explaining that I felt my license plate was being unfairly withheld due to the agency's failure to properly inform me of my options and associated costs. I ultimately paid the additional fees under protest. The owner, Mike, then came out to explain the charges. I conveyed to him that his employees need better training to ensure that all fees--government-mandated or otherwise--are clearly communicated to customers in advance, rather than at the time of pickup, so clients can plan accordingly. Overall, this agency lacks proper customer service, well-trained staff, and transparency in its fee structure. It is disappointing that such practices are allowed to represent the state, as they create unnecessary stress and financial burden for customers. My husband passed away due to covid on September of 2021. I went into the tag agency to get the titles of our cars, transferred to my name. This way I can sell one of my car without issues. Liz was the person who helped me out and she was amazing! In less than 20 mins, she processed everything and the titles were under my name. It's not by appointment and I thought I'd have to wait forever, but truthfully 30 mins wait isn't bad at all, compared to other agencies. I will for sure be recommending this tag agency. I try to avoid the auto tag agency and DMV at all costs, but I had to come in, in person to renew my tag. The place was packed considering it was a week day, during lunch time. There were only 3 workers assisting, and they were definitely taking their sweet time. The line was slowly moving, and it was definitely about a 30-45 minute wait before being helped. I guess you can't expect much from these agencies, as they all have the same work ethic. It's a shame though, because they literally all have the same poor reputation. This particular location does offer plenty of parking, but no seating or specific system. It's first come first serve, standing and waiting online. Once the room gets packed, the line extends to outside the door. It's awful. If possible, I definitely recommend avoiding to come here at all costs. Yesterday I was passing by the shopping center where this agency is and I decided to give it a try, since whenever I can go it's always packed with people. It was raining so I guess that's the reason why this location was finally empty. I loved it, in and out in less than five minutes. The place doesn't look good but I didn't care. I'm not there to look at the place. The young girl taking care of me, asked me for my license and car registration. She was nice with me and the rest of the people here seamed nice too. She offered me the option of laminating but I decided not to. I was charged to renewal my tag $53 and they accept cash and debit card. Came on a weekday (granted, it is spring break), still it wasn't that busy and yet the service was incredibly slow. I wanted to make a purchase for license tag with teacher logo (gift). I called several times in hope of gathering info on what would be needed in order for me to make this purchase (since it is a gift for someone). No one answered the phone. I decide to just show up, wait in line. Completely gave up after asking the very simple question of what was needed in order to purchase a tag for someone else, and getting no real response. I had not gone to a tag agency in a while, we do the yearly stuff online, and I guess that is a huge plus, considering the waste of time it was, to visit the location. I don't know how good or bad other agencies are, but this one, is worse than a dmv office.....and we all know how fun those are! read more

She better be carful as some ppl will not tolerate her stink attitude. I ask why they refused to take credit cards as a payment. Only can, check or debit and I think it's a surcharge to it. The police officer told me to get there immediately and get my car registration that documentation belongs to me for any agency that require. I went there and I asked the same guy , he gave it to me , but never apologize to me about his low and shame action.
